Hello - new member here but I’ve been reading for years. I recently started cleaning up a vintage speedy 30, but can’t seem to get the black off the handles edge. Has anybody had any luck with this? Thanks in advance!

Here's my latest rescue, a bit of a beaten up 1995 yellow Noe GM dyed to black. I swapped the shoulder strap, as the original strap is stiff to the point of cracking where it bends. The drawstring was in ok condition and has also been dyed, but I like the scarf tie better at the moment. I debated purchasing a short handle for it as well, and then found that the handle on my Loungefly McDonalds Witch bucket bag was the exact right size to try that out, so it's hanging on back there as well.

Wow! I love this. I especially like the way the scarf ties the original lining color to the new exterior color.

Hiya everyone. I have never shopped vintage louis vuitton before but was thinking of getting the one bag that I could never justify in my early 30s, the Melrose Avenue. Thinking of getting a pre-loved melrose and would really appreciate your advice on which bag might be easier to repair or if neither are worth the hassle.

Bag A has one tear in the corner (pic one), whereas Bag B has a white scuff mark and something happening to one corner (pics two and three). Item B is about 200 more than Item A.

It seems that Mozilla automatic translator changed my post...sorry. :)

Hi dear! Nice burgundy grape color you chose!

In the past I have tried to correct the color of vernis leather. So: colored transfer marks are not a problem to hide if you change the light color to dark. You can use alcohol based paint, it works very well.
However, the places where the vernis is missing on the surface cannot be repaired - the deeper layer does not accept the pigment from the spirit paint, or very weakly. Places remain bright.
Permanent enamel could be used, but working with it is monkey work with a very thin brush and the results would be visible - let's say: more visible than not.

On the contrary: A professional in any repair shop can repair a corner without shine. It's a small job and they know they're doing it without grades. The bag could be "like new".

IMHO a bag with a damaged corner but a good vernis surface is a better option.

Incredibly helpful. Luckily I found one that is pristine on ebay. Fingers crossed that it's as good as it looks in pics!

My first luxury purchase was a vintage Speedy 30 on a girl’s trip to Japan, years and years ago. I think I paid about $300 for it, out of a sidewalk bin with a dozen others like it. I still use it a ton, but now want to invest in a newer 25 size. After I saw the Flight Club capsule, it inspired me to use the bag to display my vintage hotel luggage labels that my husband and I collect from the hotels we’ve stayed in together. I have about seven of them. Today I played around with taping a few onto the Speedy and I don’t hate it! I think I could probably Mod Podge them on there… but then there’s no going back. What do you think?

I love this idea, I had the same one but I don’t have any old luggage labels to use. I’m not sure if Mod Podge would stick for very long on the LV canvas so I would do some research as there may possibly be an even better product to use to adhere them.

Good morning, LV rescue team!

Not quite a rescue here, but a more of re-purposing project.

Seeing as old epi pochette accessoires are a bit on the pricey side, I searched for a gorgeous and much cheaper Borneo green Arts Deco (old epi envelope clutch) after watching a lady on YouTube modify her black one. I loved her results, so I gave it a go.

I made a hole on either side with a leather hole punch, attached gold d-ring swivel rivet thingies, and a green/gold faux leather strap. I was so happy the strap colour matches perfectly.

I do love the look of clutch bags but knowing me, I’d take it out, get drunk and leave it somewhere 😂 so it needs to be hands-free placed on my body!

I also did a similar thing with my Toledo blue epi bucket pm pouch. I just put only one d ring cos there was already one on the other side.

I got all the materials/tools from Amazon and Shien, very inexpensive.

Very happy with the results of my project :-)

Hi everyone I have a vintage LV Babylone with alcantara lining. I got it for $395.

The biggest flaw with the bag is the alcantara lining....its pretty bad, but the outside of the bag looks great. Does anyone have experience with cleaning this type of lining?

Congrats to your new bag! :) Look back in this discussion, I wrote about "fixing" with kitchen spoge. 🤩
