The LV Rescue Club

Here's my Speedy which I bought new from LV in the 70's  I had used it a lot back then and then I put it away and didn't use it for years. One of the handles has come apart and the other one needs re-stitching aswell. I took it to LV but they told me they don't work on such old bags. I want to have it fixed and re-use it since the canvas is fine. I will take it to an artisan and see what can be done. I hope to be able to post after pics aswell!

Wow she’s a beauty! Have you tried reaching out to purse rehab? They do awesome repairs maybe they will be able to offer a quote for you. They might recommend for you to replace the vachetta.

That's a little disappointing to read. It was my understanding that LV will repair any of their bags, regardless of age. Unless of course it's a limited item that they may no longer have replacement parts for. With a bag like the Speedy, though, that's disappointing!

I could not forget about the Saleya....won it in auction after losing it in an auction a few days before. The winner of the first auction never paid for it, so I got it the second time around. So it was meant to be mine!

It arrives on Friday....so excited!

Oh my... You're making me want a Speedy in Epi... Gorgeous collection!
Here’s a solo pic of the Epi Speedy 25. She was well loved and in rough shape....no one ever used an insert or base shaper in her and the wrinkles are the result. Also, the handles were sound, no cracks or damage, but the color had almost rubbed off them and the edges of the bag too. I put new color on them all and chose to cover the handles with some bright twillies to protect them. The twillies help draw attention to her iconic shape and beautiful color, not her “character lines.” I tried to sell her, but no one was springing for it so I decided to keep her and love her just as she is!

Just got this Trocadero 24 from April of 1986(!!!!) in for a friend. Ordered it on Sunday night, it arrived noon today (Tuesday). Amazing condition- with dust bag!....I had less to do than I anticipated because condition was even better than I expected. Applied color to any rubbed/scuffed areas, cleaned and fully conditioned, cleaned brass hardware, sealed any worn glazing. She turned out beautifully!

You've done a lovely job! Twillies fix everything! I just adopted a not-too-bad Babylone that will need some love but give me a pre-2005 LV any time

I'm pleased to share that I have adopted a 1996 Babylone in reasonable shape today. I bought a Damier Belem last month (great condition) but it's quite dressy and I wanted a casual shopper that I don't have to feel too precious about. Having bought LVs from Japan before, I knew where to search so trawled the Bay for the last month, assessing the final price of vintage LVs. I was stuck between Sac Shopping, Batignolles and Mezzo, but anything with piping or vachetta trim didn't survive the last 20+ years too well (or if they did, they were $500+). So this Babylone with decent handles (one will need reinforcing over a crack) and some minor scuffs stood out. I put in a cheeky offer based on what the cheapest Babylone's sold for and it got accepted. It has sticky pockets which I'll look at re-lining with a suedette material but given I hardly use them, it's OK. I'll update later once the bag arrives and I give it a refresh
