Hi JKP! Can't wait to see your new goodies! Did you wear the earrings today? I'm sure your MIL will love the necklace, how sweet of you and thoughtful to think so far in advance. I can barely think past the coming week, lol!
I picked up two little infinity twists supercheap for earrings. I have them on very thin rose gold hoops right now, but will probably find some silver closed hooks to wear them on too so that I can change them back and forth.

Hello Crosso!!!! How lovely!!! So delicate and the colour is very beautiful! They look great with the Rose Gold! I love Rose gold! Whatever you decide to use though will look just as beautiful because of their colour, so you can have different creations for different moods and occasions! Multitasking...... perfect!!!! Hugs!!! :smile1:

Hi Clairejune,

You are right about the other bangle having a network of spider webs on the surface. I decided not to buy it. However, I purchased this one (see image). What do you think? It is a tri-color transparency, heavy icy with deep plum-purple & apple green streaks and light green to white ground. Thanks!

Connie, wow!!!!!! It's glorious!!!! So beautiful! Congratulations!!!! :smile1::tup:

Could you wonderful and knowledgeable ladies give me your opinions on the following jade Buddha pendants?

I know Ultimate Jadeite is a popular seller on this thread, but I'm worried the pendant won't look the same as it does in his photos. I've asked him to take photos of the pendant in indoor lighting as well. The pendant is $399 but an extra $100 to add a gold/diamond bail. The carving/detail is my favorite out of all the options. I also worry about returning the item overseas should it not work out.

Here are some pieces from a local Bay Area store, the pictures are just from a cell phone so the quality is not the best:

The biggest benefit is immediate satisfaction and I can inspect the pieces in person. The prices are higher than Ultimate Jadeite.

Does anyone wear a jade Buddha pendant? I would love to see some action shots.

Pretty! I know UJ accepts returns and their outdoor photos are pretty close to what you'll see with your eyes. However, what I have noticed is that macbook (2010 model) with a matte screen is much more accurate for color than my cell phone (2014 droid). The droid picks up and enhances all subtle colors, making colors brighter and more noticeable... which makes the real life thing often look washed out when compared to my phone pictures.

I rely on my macbook for colors when I buy online.

Hi Fluffy! My experience with UJ, both personally and what I have seen on the thread, is that their pics are very good and give a realistic idea of what the jade looks like in person. It's a great idea to have requested a pic in indoor lighting though, as jade can look quite different depending on the lighting. I agree with you that the carving is exceptional on the first one! He really is happy looking and I love the slightly blue tone of the green. The texture looks quite fine. I like the apple green hue of the second buddha, but the carving is not quite on par with the UJ pendant IMO. And for some reason, though I love lavender jade for some things, not for buddhas. So there's my very long opinion, lol! I don't wear a buddha regularly, but have a teeny tiny yellow one I wear on a charm bracelet. The right buddha should make you smile looking at him, I think - maybe that criteria will help guide you too 😁

Gee thanks crosso, Kingfisher, JKP, and GS for your comps on my SA jadeite necklace! It was very satisfying to finally come up with a design I liked! I've always loved 2-tone and tri-color metals - gold and/or mixed metals.

crosso, your infinity twists are very cute and they look translucent, too!

connie, very pretty bangle with wonderful swirls and colors! My first impression was that it was agate. Is it jadeite?

JKP, the bead earrings look very classy and pure! That beaded necklace already looks gorgeous in your pic so they must be breathtaking in person! So nice of you to gift them to your MIL!

Here's my jade du jour - a grey black jadeite bangle that unfortunately had color polish on it, but it was mainly in its surface fissures. It didn't even need it in the first place especially with its darker colors and grainy patterns. So it was a waste of green color polish IMO. FYI this color polish glows under UV light. She was very affordable and made even more so by a partial refund when I complained to the seller. So don't do this to your precious jadeite, but I soaked it for hours in extra strength nail polish remover - I read that acetone can remove some dyes from jade, and it can also remove some polymers from B grade jadeite. I'm happy to report that the bangle's polish and shine was not affected by its acetone soak. Some surface fissures still having hints of false green in it, so I'm not really sure the acetone really worked other than getting off the stuff at the very top of the surface that might have come off real soon anyway... I followed up with an olive oil soak. I'm pretty confident it's A grade jadeite and it has good jadeite specific gravity. Again I only dared to soak it in acetone because it was a very cheap bangle in the end. I'm definitely not encouraging anyone else to try this!

GORG, J4ME!!! To echo Kingfisher, how did you know it had color polish in the first place? You certainly didn't seem to do it any harm, it looks great on you! How about a pic with Maya?☺

Hi Jukenpo,

Thank you for the tip. The colors do look different on my Mac and phone!
