Friday stack, TGIF!

And on the subject of lighting - here is today's stack in the sun. If I buy more bangles (which I DON'T need to do!) I would definitely ask for pics in different lighting. Most sellers obviously want to show their jade at it's best, which usually means in bright light - sunlight, with flash which enhances the brightness of the color, or with direct light behind to show translucency. I've been disappointed a time or two with the difference between seller pics and reality, though not unduly so. But I have learned - best to ask! And if a seller does not want to comply, especially for an expensive jade, better to pass, as they may either have something to hide or are not that dedicated to customer service.

SO PRECIOUS!!!! Look how their little ears are all perked up and their eyes sparkling! Such cute boys!

Thanks so much for the comps on my boys, Crosso!!!! They do get away with murder, lol....of the treat kind. ;) they had just been groomed so they are at their best. I thought I'd get a picture in as quickly as possible because it doesn't last to long. They have often come from the groomers and run straight into the back yard and roll around in the dirt! Boys will be boys, lol
And thank you so much for sharing the photos of your stack!!!! Sooooooo gorgeous!!!!i love how you themed it all in one colour together with the green spacer, just beautiful <3 The lighting certainly makes a difference so great advice and tips about asking for pics under different light and if the seller is not willing to do so to give them a miss! Thanks so much for that. xoxo It's great to keep that in mind and thank you for taking the time to take the different photos and explain it to us!!!! But your bangles are stunning under any light, Crosso. You have such beautiful pieces <3 wear them in good health, dear lady.xoxo :smile1:

Hi Ladies!!! And hello, Jade4me! (Waving madly) thanks for inspiring me to read up on the Jade Buddha made from the 'Polar Pride' Nephrite Boulder!
Further to my posting of the picture of the 18 ton Nephrite Boulder and thanks to Jade4Me's info, I'm posting the link to the page that talks about the making and carving of this magnificent Buddha. There is a small video presentation which shows how and why it was carved. It starts and delays a bit, but it does play all the way through and it's only 5 mins long.
The Buddha is Sublime, in quality, workmanship and colour. Enjoy! :smile1:

Could you wonderful and knowledgeable ladies give me your opinions on the following jade Buddha pendants?

I know Ultimate Jadeite is a popular seller on this thread, but I'm worried the pendant won't look the same as it does in his photos. I've asked him to take photos of the pendant in indoor lighting as well. The pendant is $399 but an extra $100 to add a gold/diamond bail. The carving/detail is my favorite out of all the options. I also worry about returning the item overseas should it not work out.

Here are some pieces from a local Bay Area store, the pictures are just from a cell phone so the quality is not the best:

The biggest benefit is immediate satisfaction and I can inspect the pieces in person. The prices are higher than Ultimate Jadeite.

Does anyone wear a jade Buddha pendant? I would love to see some action shots.
Fluffypants, congrats on getting a laughing Buddha pendant.

From the photos you have shared, the icy white one is of better quality and rarer to get. It looks moist and the belly is fat and round.

As a note when choosing laughing Buddha or Guan Yin, the cleaner the face the better. If you shine it through a torch light and find some smudge or the face, the value will be much lower. Then, inspect the carving. Touch the pendant in every angle and feel if there is rough corner. You must also see the facial expression of the Buddha or Guan Yin. Laughing Buddha should look happy, wise and well rounded while Guan Yin has this calming look. Finally the fatter the better.

Top priority for me is the jade type. As for the color, I prefer a balance, even color. I will share my pendants with you in a short while.

I have also gifted the first Guan Yin to my sis and reserved one for keeping (2nd photo).

The 3rd photo is a big laughing Buddha pendant which I also like but didn't get it.
