Hi Jade4me! I meant every word I said, including the exclamation marks!!! :smile1: It's a fabulous creation!!! Well done, clever girl!!!!!

And ooooooh, love your grey black Jadeite Bangle. It's very beautiful!!! Also many thanks for explaining about the surface colour polish and the way it comes up with UV light. It's so wonderful of you to share your knowledge. xoxo. Thanks so much!!! May I ask a couple of questions please?
How could you tell if the colour polish is on the surface only or deeper? Did you have a suspicion or just decided to test with the UV light? And secondly, what does an 'Olive oil bath' mean and how do you do it? Does it have to be extra virgin Olive oil? Would it help Nori's belly button for example? Being Greek, we always have plenty of it in the kitchen, lol. Thank you so much, in advance Jade4Me. Hugs! :smile1:

I'm so glad you're feeling better everyday! Awww how sweet your furbabies had your back when you were feeling unwell! They really are a bottomless well of unconditional love and can be so sensitive and so in tuned to us! My furbaby is good thanks for asking! In fact unlike his mum (to use your terminology ;) - I still need to shed a few winter/holiday pounds; 1-1.5 Kilos would you say or do you use pounds, too?), he's looking real good after I cut back on his food at the beginning of the year. The vet said he was getting too much love! Well he can never have enough emotional love, but he can have too much food apparently! Though I'm sure if he could talk he would say his previous daily ration was just fine with no need for cutting! :p It's not like I buy him cheap food, so cutting back a little helps his food last longer, which is good for one's jade budget! :graucho:

As for my new grey black jadeite bangle having color polish, from older posts on this thread there has been awareness of color polish being used on some jadeite. This can be obvious with too good looking or too bright colors especially pooling in the surface cracks & pits. My bangle, which I've named Regina, had fake looking green color in her rough spots and surface fissures! I have a UV light that I bought to try to see if the polymers in my 2 known B grade bangles would glow - they don't so I need a different UV light for that... However, when I used it on Regina, the color polish in her surface cracks & pits glowed! From previous posts some may know that I've now self banded 2 bangles with sterling silver, and to clean off the extra epoxy I used rubbing alcohol with no harm done to the jade. So I used a cotton ball and rubbing alcohol on Regina and the green color that came off onto the cotton ball looked almost like I was taking fingernail polish off - it was so bright with a teal green color! The rubbing alcohol didn't remove it from the cracks & pits and so I went online looking for another way to try to remove it and acetone came up. Well the acetone didn't remove it either, but in a larger rough spot it was definitely less vivid. Unfortunately, since color polish is only a temporary surface treatment, sellers can still legitimately call jade with it A grade.

As for using olive oil on jade, I learned about this from a jade sister and older posts on this thread. Before reading about it here, I've also seen online mentions of using olive oil on jade to shine it up. I don't know if virgin olive oil or not matters. King, since you wear Nori 24/7, she gets sort of a similar treatment from your body oils. But I don't believe there's any harm in trying out an olive oil soak on her for an hour/hours/overnight. Some online sellers have also mentioned using mineral oil on jade, but I couldn't find clear guidelines for which purity or grade levels are OK since there are toxicity concerns out there about mineral oil. Whereas with olive oil that you are willing to ingest and cook with, and there are lots of beauty uses for it, too, I'm way more comfortable with using that on jade. I wipe off or wash off the excess olive oil with a little mild soap & water mainly so I don't get olive oil all over the place and onto my clothes!

Okay ladies, stuff that dreams are made of....
This is an 18 ton Nephrite Boulder found in 2000 in Canada!!!!
This is the Polar Pride boulder that the Jade Buddha for Universal Peace was carved from! I just learned about all this from looking up this huge boulder so thanks for posting its pic, King! This astonishing jade Buddha statue is on tour right now in North America! I'd love to see in person someday!

Pretty! I know UJ accepts returns and their outdoor photos are pretty close to what you'll see with your eyes. However, what I have noticed is that macbook (2010 model) with a matte screen is much more accurate for color than my cell phone (2014 droid). The droid picks up and enhances all subtle colors, making colors brighter and more noticeable... which makes the real life thing often look washed out when compared to my phone pictures.

I rely on my macbook for colors when I buy online.
Thanks for that great advice as I never thought about colors maybe looking different on my phone vs my PC! Also, thanks for the comps on my new grey black bangle!

fluffypants, that Buddha from UJ is very pretty!

crosso, thanks for the comps on Regina and I had the same thought earlier today about showing her with Maya!

Okay... not too late for throwback thursday, right? lol

On the question of color.... lighting makes such a huge difference when it comes to jade! I really wish sellers would take their pics in a variety of lighting situations. Harsh outdoor full sun, sunny but in the shade, indoor light, low light... with a white background...

Here's my first bangle (from UJ) and their outdoor shots came close to mine.

First Princess is still my favorite bangle. I think if she had been a 50mm instead of a 54.8, I wouldn't have built my collection. I would have been happy with just her.

Hi Jade4Me!!! Wow!!!!! Thank you SO much for all that fantastic info and for taking the time to answer!!!! I really appreciate the sharing of your knowledge!!!! So glad to hear that Regina handled her 'baths' well. She truly is beautiful and I love your pairing her with your black bangle. It looks fatastic, sexy and mysterious..... ;)
And you're probably right about Nori, I do wear her 24/7 so she probably gets enough oil, lol.
We use kilos too, Jade4Me and you will easily lose that once you move into spring.... Warmer weather, more chance to get out and enjoy the sunshine and walk and also our eating habits change. We don't need comfort food as much (except for chocolate which is acceptable all year round ;) ) and more into salads and grilled meats or fish, drinking more water so I think it will just fall off you before you even know it!
And how beautifully worded! They are indeed a ' bottomless well of unconditional love'. Xoxo.
I can relate to the 'too much love'.....( How can you not love them as much as they love you?! It's impossible!!!) Our Vet says the same thing to us about 'too much love'! In fact she told us that when she dies and comes back in another life, she wants to come back as one of our pets! lol. I try to keep their food and treats under control but, I am weak....... It's those big eyes that get me........ ;) but they do look thinner when they have their hair cuts, lol. I always joke it's their fur and not them. Neither shed so they have to be groomed every 6 or so weeks. I'll send you a pic of my boys. Jaime is the bigger, Maltese X and Perry is my poodle. :) and I like your style and way of thinking!!!! Not only do we get our pets looking trim taught and terrific, but we end up with a bigger Jade budget!!!! Bargain!!!!! Way to go, Jade4Me!!!!!
Thanks also for the great info on the Boulder!!! Wow, a giant carving of the Peace Budha!!! And on show in North America as we speak??? How wonderful it would be to see it......sigh.
Hugs to you, my learned and generous friend and smooches to your bubby! <3

She is absolutely stunning, JKP! I'd be happy with just her too!!! And well done on the photos! Perfect! So your bangle size (fit) is 50mm? Does the size change according to width and shape?? Wear her in good health, dear Lady, she's gorgeous!!!

Could you wonderful and knowledgeable ladies give me your opinions on the following jade Buddha pendants?

I know Ultimate Jadeite is a popular seller on this thread, but I'm worried the pendant won't look the same as it does in his photos. I've asked him to take photos of the pendant in indoor lighting as well. The pendant is $399 but an extra $100 to add a gold/diamond bail. The carving/detail is my favorite out of all the options. I also worry about returning the item overseas should it not work out.

Here are some pieces from a local Bay Area store, the pictures are just from a cell phone so the quality is not the best:

The biggest benefit is immediate satisfaction and I can inspect the pieces in person. The prices are higher than Ultimate Jadeite.

Does anyone wear a jade Buddha pendant? I would love to see some action shots.

Hi fluffypants! I really love the first little Buddha!!! He's so jolly and happy!!!! Love the colour too!!! Like Crosso, said, he makes me smile!!! Good luck and go with your heart. Don't forget to post pics!!! :smile1:
