Morning jadies! on the way out the door to work....

I owe pictures of my new earrings, and I'm going to try to get them out today. I'm also waiting on a "new" beaded necklace... I plan to gift it to my MIL for mother's day. It's a vintage piece of multi-colored beads on a single long strand with a 14k clasp....I'm so excited waiting for it. Part of me wants to keep it. lol

Connie7777, hi again! That bangle looks swirly and gorgeous... it must be super expensive with the translucency and color combo. My first impression was to wonder if it were glass. Keep us posted!

Uli... hope you are lurking even if you are not posting at the moment! Hope all is well with you!

Hi JKP! Can't wait to see your new goodies! Did you wear the earrings today? I'm sure your MIL will love the necklace, how sweet of you and thoughtful to think so far in advance. I can barely think past the coming week, lol!
I picked up two little infinity twists supercheap for earrings. I have them on very thin rose gold hoops right now, but will probably find some silver closed hooks to wear them on too so that I can change them back and forth.

Boo.... had a reply typed up and the page randomly refreshed by itself and lost the whole thing.

Crosso: love the twists on the hoops! I used to be so into hoops growing up and now I rarely wear anything that dangles down. I don't know when I made the switch because I still like the look, I just stopped reaching for them around 10 years ago... you are inspiring me to try and rotate more often!

While I get my pics prepped... here is a link to awesome jade estate jewelry. Pricey, but soooo gorgeous.

I know right? I can't afford a single thing on that page. sighs

okie dokie... here's my latest earring acquisition. White beads on 14k screw backs. They are for unpierced ears, so that was new to me... I was scared I'd lose them the whole time.... good weight on them though.

And here are the beads for MIL.

I cannot express how much pictures do not do them justice. They are so beautiful in real life... It is going to be hard to give them up, but she will love them!

Crosso, beautiful pair of earrings.

Here's my jade offering today - a Guatemalan jadeite bead necklace, 14K gold beads, and oxidized sterling silver chain. I had been sitting on these 5 beads forever undecided on what to do with them - I tried silver spacer beads with and without other gemstone beads like citrine and garnet, Thai silver beads, just them alone on leather cord with knots in between them, etc. I finally settled on this design because I wanted to simply highlight the dark jadeite, and yellow gold popped way more than silver. I happened to have these 4 gold beads from ages ago with an etched crinkled texture, so they're a bit more rustic than a high polish finish. But I didn't want all yellow gold color because of the rustic shape of the jadeite beads. So I used oxidized silver chain. It's adjustable up to 18" as I used a lobster claw clasp that hooks directly onto the chain links. The best thing about DIY (as you know, too, Molly ;)) is that I can take it apart and do something else later if this isn't working for me anymore! :graucho:
Jade4Me, your necklace is so chic and beautiful.

Thank you for your well wishes, GS!!!!! And yes, we have come into Autumn as of the 1st of March! Fitting with our extremes in weather, we had a sunny 32 degrees Celcius yesterday (90 Fahrenheit) and then it had dropped to 21 degrees Celcius by the same afternoon!
Today is also a milder day.
Thank you also for explaining about the YS bangles! They are indeed very beautiful and I can tell from the photos, the lustre and the workmanship that he is a true Artisan. So like Claire's YS is also from the same! Congratulations to all of you YS sisters and wear your bangles in good health!!!!
And now to that little gold ingot which is so, so precious. It's adorable as is your horse pendant!!! Love them!!! They are amazing birthday gifts that are so well deserved, beautiful Lady.xoxo. And blessings to you and to your very thoughtful husband. May you both be blessed and may your marriage be filled with happiness and love and long life always!!!!
Hugs.xoxo. :heart::hugs:
Thank you very much, Kingsfisher.

Gee thanks crosso, Kingfisher, JKP, and GS for your comps on my SA jadeite necklace! It was very satisfying to finally come up with a design I liked! I've always loved 2-tone and tri-color metals - gold and/or mixed metals.

crosso, your infinity twists are very cute and they look translucent, too!

connie, very pretty bangle with wonderful swirls and colors! My first impression was that it was agate. Is it jadeite?

JKP, the bead earrings look very classy and pure! That beaded necklace already looks gorgeous in your pic so they must be breathtaking in person! So nice of you to gift them to your MIL!

Here's my jade du jour - a grey black jadeite bangle that unfortunately had color polish on it, but it was mainly in its surface fissures. It didn't even need it in the first place especially with its darker colors and grainy patterns. So it was a waste of green color polish IMO. FYI this color polish glows under UV light. She was very affordable and made even more so by a partial refund when I complained to the seller. So don't do this to your precious jadeite, but I soaked it for hours in extra strength nail polish remover - I read that acetone can remove some dyes from jade, and it can also remove some polymers from B grade jadeite. I'm happy to report that the bangle's polish and shine was not affected by its acetone soak. Some surface fissures still having hints of false green in it, so I'm not really sure the acetone really worked other than getting off the stuff at the very top of the surface that might have come off real soon anyway... I followed up with an olive oil soak. I'm pretty confident it's A grade jadeite and it has good jadeite specific gravity. Again I only dared to soak it in acetone because it was a very cheap bangle in the end. I'm definitely not encouraging anyone else to try this!

wow jade4me, I agree that bangle definitely doesn't need any color "help". The grain and back and forth between light and dark make it look really neat on its own. I love it!

Hi Jade4me! I meant every word I said, including the exclamation marks!!! :smile1: It's a fabulous creation!!! Well done, clever girl!!!!!

And ooooooh, love your grey black Jadeite Bangle. It's very beautiful!!! Also many thanks for explaining about the surface colour polish and the way it comes up with UV light. It's so wonderful of you to share your knowledge. xoxo. Thanks so much!!! May I ask a couple of questions please?
How could you tell if the colour polish is on the surface only or deeper? Did you have a suspicion or just decided to test with the UV light? And secondly, what does an 'Olive oil bath' mean and how do you do it? Does it have to be extra virgin Olive oil? Would it help Nori's belly button for example? Being Greek, we always have plenty of it in the kitchen, lol. Thank you so much, in advance Jade4Me. Hugs! :smile1:
