Here's my jade offering today - a Guatemalan jadeite bead necklace, 14K gold beads, and oxidized sterling silver chain. I had been sitting on these 5 beads forever undecided on what to do with them - I tried silver spacer beads with and without other gemstone beads like citrine and garnet, Thai silver beads, just them alone on leather cord with knots in between them, etc. I finally settled on this design because I wanted to simply highlight the dark jadeite, and yellow gold popped way more than silver. I happened to have these 4 gold beads from ages ago with an etched crinkled texture, so they're a bit more rustic than a high polish finish. But I didn't want all yellow gold color because of the rustic shape of the jadeite beads. So I used oxidized silver chain. It's adjustable up to 18" as I used a lobster claw clasp that hooks directly onto the chain links. The best thing about DIY (as you know, too, Molly ;)) is that I can take it apart and do something else later if this isn't working for me anymore! :graucho:

Holy smokes, J4Me, that is just perfect! I never would have thought of mixing the gold with the oxidized silver. It totally works with the shape of the beads - the contrast in shapes and materials makes this a beautiful and unique piece. This has opened my eyes to different possibilities for my remaining jade bits and pieces - thank you for sharing!

Thank you, King. Hopefully the weather is not as hot. The autumn is coming soon?

Thank you for your well wishes, GS!!!!! And yes, we have come into Autumn as of the 1st of March! Fitting with our extremes in weather, we had a sunny 32 degrees Celcius yesterday (90 Fahrenheit) and then it had dropped to 21 degrees Celcius by the same afternoon!
Today is also a milder day.
Thank you also for explaining about the YS bangles! They are indeed very beautiful and I can tell from the photos, the lustre and the workmanship that he is a true Artisan. So like Claire's YS is also from the same! Congratulations to all of you YS sisters and wear your bangles in good health!!!!
And now to that little gold ingot which is so, so precious. It's adorable as is your horse pendant!!! Love them!!! They are amazing birthday gifts that are so well deserved, beautiful Lady.xoxo. And blessings to you and to your very thoughtful husband. May you both be blessed and may your marriage be filled with happiness and love and long life always!!!!
Hugs.xoxo. :heart::hugs:

I think those 7 beads look nice together! You can use gold or silver spacer beads in between them, too, if you wish. I love your new nephrite & pearl necklace! The green looks very rich!

Thanks for your advoce and the complimemt on the new necklace! I can't wait to find just tge right thing to wear it with, I really love it!

And Molly? You should DEFINATELY buy from them as your local source. The quality is great!

Thsnks so much for all the compliments, King! I'm so sorry to hear that you have been under the weather, but glad you are recovering now! I am fine - just had a bad bruise that is now gone.
The new necklace was bought exactly as pictured from Jade Peony. I do like how the pendant is on two strands of beaded chain - I think it gives it a more unusual look. I took some more pics in the sun which I'll post in a min.
Thanks also for your compliments about Koi Kiss - she is one if my favorites. She makes me feel more tranquil just looking at her. Here is a better pic of her color. All jade pics should be in the sun!
Looking forward to seeing more pics of you enjoying the sun and summer weather there. It will be a joy to anticipate warm weather after the week we've had here!
Xoxo

Thanks, dear Crosso!!! My flare-up took a little bit longer to settle than normal but I'm getting there! I guess as I get older I won't bounce back as quickly as I use to. I spent most of the flare up in bed, this time and just resting. It's a good thing I'll always have chocolate to see me through. Lol :D
Glad to hear you are also doing well and your bruise is gone now. It must have been so frightening! I've never had to deal with snow or ice so I can't imagine what a shock it would be! I do hope the milder and warmer weather comes to you very soon!!!
Your new necklace is stunning! I love everything about it and I absolutely adore the delicate nature of the necklace. It's so becoming and 'Lady-like'. Very Jane Austin. :)
And thanks so much for sharing another picture of your Koi Kiss! She is indeed very beautiful and honestly, that is the perfect name for her. It's exactly what I see and she is very calming and serene. Wear her in good health, my friend.xoxo.
Thanks again for the well wishes, Crosso. I too am looking forward to getting back out there and enjoying the sun!
Hugs.xoxo. :hugs::smooch:

GS your new ingot is so pretty! Enjoy!!! When is your birthday?

Crosso, I love your new pendant/necklace! I often drool over jade pieces on that site. And it's in the same part of the world as me too! I think that's a sign that I really should buy something! ;)

Hi King! so nice to see you! Glad you are feeling better! :smile1:

Hi Molly!!!! (waving back madly) thanks for your well wishes! I'm getting there!!! :hugs::tup:

Hi Jade4Me!!! Thank you so much for your well wishes!!! I'm slowly getting back to my normal self, just taking a little bit longer this time than I would have liked, but hey, that's life and just taking it one day at a time. :) How are you, dear lady? Going to the gym lately? And how is your beloved, fur bubby? My two 'boys' knew mummy wasn't well and have kept me company everyday, hardly leaving my side........ Unlike the husband and the kids, lol :p
I can see that you are at your creative best! This is gorgeous!!!! I am in awe of you, Molly and Crosso, making such beautiful pieces, your own creations.... Wow!
Your necklace is amazing, J4Me!!!!! Love everything about it and I can see its a piece that you can wear with anything!!! What a clever girl you are!!!
Well done to you and to all the DIY sisters!!! You are all brilliant!!! :hugs::heart:

Nice ladies!

Here's my offering for today.... PL with Elsa (yes, from Frozen...lol :p) which is what I've decided to call the white carved.

Your bangles are gorgeous, Junkenpo!!!! Beautiful calming colours. :smile1:

In love with this bangle at the moment...although it doesn't say it's a Grade A. Does this matter?

Hi floridasun8! It is a very beautiful bangle and I can see why you would be in love with it! What's not to Love?! It's gorgeous! :smile1: I only know the bare, bare minimum about Jade and the grades, the other sisters will be able to help you definitely. They are a wealth of knowledge and Jade4Me has given you great advice with the explanation of the different grades and what they mean.
As long as you know exactly what it is before you buy it, then no matter what the grade, it's okay. I agree with J4Me as far as wearing B and C grades like costume jewellery from the health point of view (for me personally) because I wear my bangle 24/7 and she is my 'forever' bangle and never take her off. So for me, keeping that in mind and my previous health history, it was better for me personally not have a treated and dyed bangle against my skin all the time. So everyone is different and we want different things out of our pieces. As long as you know what quality you are buying and the buyer has honestly and truthfully described his product, then whatever you decide is right for you. Good luck, sweetie and looking forward to seeing pictures!!! Hugs! :smile1:

Jkp, when I read your dilemma, I immediately linked to how traders sometimes pay too much or too little for the raw jade boulders. In jade business, there is always gambling involved. We sometimes are not sure if we overpaid for certain jade pieces too.

Bottom line is we will keep our priority. Make sure that it's grade A before you purchase the ring. The seller has to know/ understand his product well so that customer will buy with confidence.

Don't feel obligated when the seller is nice to you. Business means business.

Can you ask the option to return it for a full refund if you send it out to be certified, and it ends up being treated jade? That is if you want to invest in getting it certified.

I did inquire about getting the ring at the gold price and calling it a day; I promise no returns even if it turns out to be treated... I like the setting and it could be just a "for fun" ring and then I could source a cabochon later. I understand his reluctance to have to take a return, but I think the seller is stuck between wanting to make a sale now and possibly losing out on a higher sale (if it is untreated, then the price he wants now is fair). He's going to see if he can figure out (unofficially) if it's treated or not and get back to me.

We shall see.. in the mean time, the hunt continues!

Thanks so much, Junkenpo! I'm glad to be back and good luck on your hunt! Looking forward to the pictures!!! :smile1:

Hi Clairejune,

You are right about the other bangle having a network of spider webs on the surface. I decided not to buy it. However, I purchased this one (see image). What do you think? It is a tri-color transparency, heavy icy with deep plum-purple & apple green streaks and light green to white ground. Thanks!
