Thank you! I forgot to let you know that Dargola is her official name.![]()
Tea, you look absolutely fantastic!! What a look. You are a treat to look at lol!
Morning ladies!
Yesterday was a still, hot, humid day... and I made my first attempt at a marathon. Silly because last year when I registered, I was still running regularly and building up my long runs. I thought that surely I'd be ready in year... lol, and then I stopped being consistent and then I also hurt my knee over the summer.
But because I had already paid, I made the attempt. Got 10 miles in before my knee started getting mad at me so I quit while I was still not broken. lol I think I'll try again next year and start training more consistently and I'll get a camelbak.
I brought Cat on the left and Smoke on the right. They got all slick with sunscreen and sweat, but came out none the worse for wear.
OMG JKP! That was smart of you to pull out before something bad happened! You read not so good stories of what befalls some at full marathons even those that have trained hard. Have you done 1/2 marathons? I hear they can help with training for full ones. May your jade help you train for next year.![]()
Morning ladies, I think something other worldy is telling me to get my jade. I've been sleeping fine until last night where my throat decided to burn throughout the night.
The only thing was on my mine was my jade bangle and how it would protect me. How adorably crazy right?
Anyway for you who are going to bed, Night!
Oh yes, when you stop at a water station, some have nurses and some are just water. At each you can stop and rest, or tell the workers if you need help or want to quit. They send a van to take you to the end of the race. This year was apparently lots worse than last year with people overheating & passing out. It was HOT and high humidity there were no trade winds. On our way back, our van (manned by EMTs) had to stop and let us out bc the ambulances were busy and they needed to take care of 2 collapsed runners. One was still conscious, but the other was flat on his back and passed out. This was around mile 22. It was amazing to see people still going in that heat!
