I used mine for 1 month, and 2 boys. The base is smooth so I expected it to have some scratches and mark. There is 1-2 fingernail marks but not deep which I Guess it is expected but overall still looks okay!

Btw just saw a new olive colour and kinda pretty!

Dear all Gabrielle owners, how is the base of your bag holding up so far? I got mine a week ago and have used it twice (and be careful with it) and found two small tiny marks on the base today. I guess it’s normal but I kind of feel a bit sad and nervous [emoji45]

I can’t handle lamb at all because I am paranoid if the bag will get scratches so most of my bags are caviar and only two distressed calf (reissue and small Gabrielle).

I guess I should just go ahead and enjoy the bag without worrying too much but I still find myself checking my bags often while I’m carrying it...is it normal or should I just stick to caviar for good?

I really like the bag and hope I could be more carefree......

I am very carefree with my gabby and I haven’t seen any real scratch after 6 months of almost daily use. I think the base can withstand a lot. Will take some pics of mine when I get home to show you. But then again I guess different people have different levels of tolerance when it comes to marks on their bags. If it really bothers you that you have to baby your bag all the time, then I’d stick to caviar going forward so you can really enjoy wearing it.
Thanks Panzanella!

I think the base is much stronger than I have thought it would be and maybe I should try to relax a bit...Would love to see your Gabrielle once you have the chance!

So far I am most comfortable with caviar and but distressed calf is usually fine too. Maybe I just need to get used to it as all my other Chanel bags are flap bags :)

So here’s the base of my 7-month old Gabby. I’ve used it almost daily and have not been gentle. This poor baby goes on crowded underground on a regular basis, sat on the floor countless times and was in heavy rain once (please don’t judge me :p). As you can see, no real noticeable marks.

If I’m gonna be real nitpicky and macro-zoom, you can see some fine lines. (Those white spots are dirts and not peeling leather. Forgot to wipe before taking the pics...oops.) These don’t bother me since I think they kinda blend with the distressed calf quilts. Also, I never actually look at my bags this close. (Look at the size of the stitches!) I imagine if I zoom this close to my own skin, it possibly look like this too!

The bottom has more fine lines and wrinkles, of course, since the Gabrielle doen’t have any feet. But again, not quite noticeable.

... unless I try brightening up to same photo until my hand is blindingly white then you can start to see that it’s not pristine. Personally I feel leather doesn’t always have to be porcelaine smooth, though, so I don’t really mind unless there is any deep and glaringly visible scratches. But I do understand if it bothers some people. I guess it depends on your personal preference.

I’ve been using Gabrielle everyday (two colours: all black and black and beige) and for me I have not done any single scratch yet- so far so good. And I am not the most careful bag user in the world. I left the bags on floor, took them out in rain. Someone walked into me from time to time. I use bag organiser and find that helps keeping the shape (I don’t quite like slouchy look).

Love those colors. I’m trying to decide between white/black and black/black for the Gabrielle in size large. Which bag do you find more fun/useful? Or do you use them equally?

I have the iridescent purple Gabrielle in medium size and I just love it. I’m thinking I could use more space to add sunglasses in their case and don’t want to repeat the same size, so large it is.

Have you tried on these colours in person? I find that the contrasting colours makes the bag appear bigger than the black/black combo. Personally I loved the black/black combo in large, but with the contrasting colours, I liked it better in the medium.

Wow your Gabrielle has held up very well! I cannot see any visible wear and tear, now I feel much more comfortable with mine now :)

I took her out again today and it started raining, I just wiped off the rain and it looks just fine - maybe I should have more faith in Chanel quality :p

Thank you again for your photos, really appreciated!

I have tried the white/black combo in medium and large. I need to try them again though, because I remember the large looking huge when I tried it on. I don’t mind bigger bags since I am 5’7”, but I need to try them on again in person. Thanks for the advice

As you can see, the bags are not exactly the same, the black one was very slouchy when I got it, the beige one almost not at all! The leather on the black one is aged calf skin as we know it from the reissue bags, the leather on the beige one feels different, it is less shiny and harder. Though the black leather is much softer, I find the nude colour incredibly beautiful especially in combination with different colours of hardware:)

Wow congrats to your beautiful new addition! The nude is so pretty and soft, gives the Gabrielle a more feminine vibe! Both are so beautiful, love!!
