Can someone please tell me what the classic bag on the Chanel website is called nowadays. Is it still called a cerf tote? Also what kind of material is it made off. I want one in beige but not if its caviar.

The best thing for you to do would be to take pics of your bag/handles etc/ and post them on the Authenticate Chanel thread here on tpf and all of the pros would be able to tell you in minutes if yours is legit or not-that would be the way to confirm-they are always right so if it is the real deal-they can usually tell!

I've been wanting this cerf tote for the longest time too, I was just worried earlier that I didn't get the real thing. Now I feel better

Thanks .. Thats what I thought. I know they changed it slightly a couple of years ago. Does it only come in one size now?

Hi ladies,

I have done a search but would like to clarify/confirm a couple of points:


1. Are there still 2 sizes? (If so, what are the measurements for both?) Or is there only one size available now? (Is the measurements Style Code: A15206
Dimensions: "14 x 10" x 6"?)

2. Is there only one material? Ie lighter/slouchier deerskin from previous years. (When did Chanel start producing this newer version?) Or are they still producing the heavier more structured version?

I've only carried mine 2x's but it accidentally got in a pic I was taking last week and the handles look very tall(long) and they have not stretched-they were like this from day one.

I had this at one time, only used it for a summer a few times and the corners got scuffed. I wasn't happy with how it wore but I loved the bag and how easy it was to use.

Is it practical to hold heavy things like notebooks and books? Does it lose its shape eventually like the GST? What type of top closure does it have?

The Cerf tote is great for business. It has feet on it, and the hidden strap is great. I wouldn't put heavy books in it but that's just me. What's really nice about the Cerf is that you can take the middle compartment out since it just snaps in, and if you're a big bag person like me it makes it really nice because you can just throw it in your other bag so you don't have problems switching. That compartment has a zipper closure and then the bag itself has a snap closure that snaps over the middle compartment!
