Just saw this on social media. I recall her large donations when she played in San Jose, CA last year.

That's phenomenal.

She doesn't have to do that but those gestures make it clear that she takes an interest in the areas she visits and learns about issues and donates to try and help in the only way she can. She's kind hearted.

I'm surprised there are not comments here yet about the Newsweek opinion piece going after Taylor for being 34 and not married with children yet. I'm not a Swiftie by any stretch, but I thought it was a pathetic and misogynist piece. The man actually came after Taylor for having a series of long term relationships. Where's the think piece lamenting that it's so normal in Hollywood for men to be unmarried and childless well into their 40s that it's hard to think of many who have NOT gone that route!

I can’t believe that anyone would write an opinion piece with that angle in 2024.

I have not read the article and have no interest in it.

I had to look up the journalist to see if it was some old dude. Nope. I think he’s just being a sh!t disturber and looking for attention.

It was a terrible piece and I did see a lot of rebuttals on X. One showed a number of her exes who are her age or older and are also unmarried and childless - Gyllenhall, Mayer, etc. But I guess in the eyes of the writer that's different.

After I saw some of the reaction to it, including Martina Navratilova, I read the article because i wanted to be fair and see if it was one of those examples where a couple of lines has been pulled out to make it seem like he was saying one thing when he was actually saying another. It wasn't. They described it accurately. He truly argued that Taylor Swift is a bad role model because she has not gotten married and had kids yet, and he believes that the way she dates is unwholesome. The woman stays involved with one man for long periods of time ... and that is somehow unwholesome.
Now don't get me wrong - if someone says "Taylor Swift is not a great role model for girls" I will say "speak to me more" because in some ways, I think that. I think that she promotes a mindset that girls are defined by the boys who pay attention to them, and that if you feel wronged the appropriate response is to get as many people as you possibly can to turn against the person you think wronged you. I don't think those are good lessons. But this guy didn't write that. He's upset that she's not married and having babies. I don't think this forum has enough memory for me to write post long enough that listed all the men who passed 34 without being married and having kids. Where's John's worry in that?

Yeah I saw that too. I guess Taylor better get back to the kitchen and start birthin' some babies eh?

It is the year 2024. Why are so many trying to take women backwards? This isn't the effing Handmaids tale, although it seems like that's what some want.

P.S. Her current boo is also 34 & unmarried. I guess it's ok for a man?

I though the same. Blatant attention seeking of the worst kind.

I remember as a child growing up that Oprah was idolized by legions of women and she never had kids and never married. You can totally be a role model with or without kids/marriage.
I actually respect taylor more for not marrying yet. I'm sure she could have found some backup dancer to marry her like someone else we know. she's a very successful independent woman. I do think she will marry eventually. she has time to still have kids if that is what she wants.

I'm by no means a Swiftie, and I'm getting a little tired of hearing about her and Travis, but I like some of her songs, and her donations to food banks have been very impressive. It's nice to see an artist truly giving back.
