There was also the hypocrisy of Violet (?) Grohl's tweet because Dave goes on at length in his book sharing the sweet story of how he flew back to LA from Australia to take her to a daddy/daughter dance at school when she was little. Then flew back again for his next show. The whole round trip was in a 36? hour period. It was a great story, but that made it cringe-inducing for her to comment about Swift's travel. A world tour (like Foo Fighters are on right now, too) is going to leave a large carbon footprint.

All of that said, death threats and excessive backlash are, of course, unnecessary.
Touring is one thing. Flying home for a daughter dance is also a bit excessive, but Taylor uses her PJ the way others use a car. She tours but wants to fly back every night to sleep in her own bed. She meets up for a date and then back again.

The thing that really surprises me is her fans not caring at all.

I saw The Eagles at MSG about ten years ago before Glenn Frey died. One of the best concerts I've ever attended.
Thousands of people of all ages singing along to all the songs. And let's not forget Billy Joel's long run at MSG. As for Taylor, she's already a billionaire. She certainly won't need the money when she's 70. Maybe she'll just be a very wealthy and happy grandma by then
I've read Taylor's shows are like a traveling Vegas production.

And to think The Eagles just stand there and sing. Billy Joel sits at his piano and sings ... they don't need multiple costume changes, flashing lights and forced choreography. I'm old. Lindas Ronstadt just stood and sang too. Now that was talent.

Ha ha ha. If you saw either Billy or The Eagles recently, you’d see a whole lot of lights and video and special effects. Billy moves around a bit but the Eagles are too old.

My Sister and neice are going to Switzerland to see Taylor, She said it was less expensive to see her Switzerland than the United States.

It's wild that traveling to see her is more affordable...

I also know people who are going to Amsterdam to see her because of that.

Ex, and totally anecdotal:

When The Eras Tour was announced in 2022, my girlfriend from junior high school and I registered to buy tickets and were both successful at having the chance at getting tickets.

We decided to go together and she gave her account details/code to a friend (who got a pair) and I got ours. Immediately after, I booked our hotel in Nov 2022 for July 2023 and the room rate was ~$400/night.

Mind you, this was before The Eras Tour was the thing that it is.

Personal reasons rendered me incapable of going and I transferred the tickets (now at a resale value of $3k/each) and hotel room to her name. Before I transferred the hotel to her, I checked and the hotel had then gone up to $1.1k/night during Tay's shows in the city.

When Taylor announced pt. 2 for North America, I was like, "great! This is my second chance!"

At this point, The Eras Tour is what it is now...

So, my original friend, myself, and then our SOs, sisters, friends, and both our mothers, registered for tickets - we were all waitlisted, until her mother got off the waitlist and got us 2 tickets.

When I booked the hotel in November 2023 for the upcoming show in Nov 2024, it cost ~$1.4k CAD/night. The previous week, it would've been ~$600 CAD/night. When I just went to check, the room rate (for a smaller room), for the weekend of her shows is now $1.9k CAD/night!

Albeit, it's a five star hotel, but regular Marriott hotels are also starting at $1k CAD/night.

It's incredible how much she has increased economies, but a huge ouch for people traveling to see her in North America.

I've been a fan since 2010 and a Swiftie since 2012 and not complaining... so very grateful that I can afford it, but it's really wild how much more expensive it is to see her in the USA/Canada - and not just for ticket resale prices!

yes i heard the US tickets were really pricey..none of my friends in Asia managed to get tickets. most tried for the Japan gigs which were cheaper than Singapore. All the Singapore tickets were mainly packaged including hotels and were super pricey!

i have never bought an album of hers. i only know her songs from listening to the radio whilst driving when I lived in Melbourne years ago. since i moved to London and do not own a car or listen to the radio, i haven't kept up with her music since kpop mania swept across Asia like 10 years ago. so i did a bit of homework before her concert. this is the first time i have spent money on Taylor Swift - concert tix and a t-shirt! her London VIP standing ticket prices were reasonable to me compared to the prices that i have paid to see lesser known artists (and that was before Covid!) and the BST Hyde Park VIP tickets made hers look like a complete bargain!

it is incredible what Taylormania made people do!! i went to her concert with a friend who only knew a few of her songs and not even a fan. she managed to get Edinburgh seated tickets which I declined because I refuse to pay for over-priced crappy hotels and waste a few days travelling and prefer standing near the stage! a week later, i bought wembley standing tickets so she sold her edinburgh tickets months later. at the time of purchase, the policy was no resale and no transfer and she was still willing to shell out £££ and the time to go! I was rather shocked since she is not even a fan but admitted she wants to go due to FOMO! fair enough. after the concert, she said she really enjoyed the whole performance and the festival like atmosphere despite having to stand for hours on a hot humid day.

I tried for the Met Life shows and only got waitlisted, which of course never came through. The silver lining of that was because I never got a code, I wasn't in the Ticketmaster clusterfuck that happened because why bother going online for it without a code. I was gonna take my chances on public sale day, but then they announced the public onsale wasn't happening because they sold all the tickets.

When she announced Miami for this fall I was going book a weekend trip, but only got waitlisted for that too. Such is life...

I have never been willing to spend big, big bucks to see ANYONE in concert. The most I ever paid was $200.00 tickets for Simon and Garfunkel in 2004…I grew up with them and consider them legends.

Will TS be considered a legend? Maybe she will.

My VIP package was £247.50 excluding booking fee and t-shirt £40. The package came with early entry to the general standing area, tote bag, pin badge, a number of posters and postcards, all of which I had given to my friend's daughter who is a fan. Back in 2019 I had paid £220 to see Jacky Cheung from Hong Kong in Wembley Arena. He is a legend to many of us! Taylor's package was pretty reasonable I thought given the the inflation we have experienced the last few years.
