Wow, all I can say having been a lurker here since last year and a member for one month is this. When you submitted your name for membership, you agreed to abide by the rules and guidelines of the PurseBlog. No ifs, ands or buts about it. They were worded plain and clearly for all to understand.

If you disagree with tPB rules and guidelines then leave permanently. No one is forcing a member to stay who has problems with the mods and their decisions on what can or cannot be done within this community. Those members who are disagreeing with the mods certainly belong to other boards where rudeness is apparently commonplace for their threads/posts. So take your disagreements and discussions there. Let the rest of us who like posting by the rules and guidelines set by tPB mods go about doing just that.

YOU SAID IT
I agree with that:D

lol! why would someone have to reveal they had a stake in a company just to mention the product? most people on most forums retain a certain degree of privacy and revealing your private business connections on a public forum that can be read by anyone is just asking for trouble!!
I wouldn't mind the whole hoo-haa if the product was **** or if it damaged bags, but i've used it and its actually pretty good.

but if anyone wants to cut their noses off to spite their faces - then feel free....I just think the whole thing has been blown totally out of proportion :smile1:

I mean...come on...the person who has a vested interest in the company can't be responsible for a forum of thousands when she has no control over how they apply the product! she isn't customer support or anything.

I agree with you. Totally blown out of porportion.

I just thought I'd share a word and some definitions I found on the web. I think it's quite "a propos".

Propaganda:
Information that is spread for the purpose of promoting some cause

Any form of communication in support of objectives designed to influence the opinions, emotions, attitudes, or behavior of any group in order to benefit the sponsor, either directly or indirectly.

Propaganda is a specific type of message presentation aimed at serving an agenda. At its root, the denotation of propaganda is 'to propagate (actively spread) a philosophy or point of view'. The most common use of the term (historically) is in political contexts; in particular to refer to certain efforts sponsored by governments or political groups.

The systematic dissemination of a doctrine, aimed to win people over to a certain idea.

tPF and it's members were being manipulated and I'm thankful the mods saw through it and ended it.

I personally would prefere to be given the information and be given the chance to decide on my own. Brainwashing and propaganda is not what I want.
I feel comfortable on the forum. I let my guard down because i trust the people here.
It's not fair that people can abuse this just to take my money. It's not ehtical.

Anyone who want to buy SM may. I am just happy I was told about the scheming behind it.

If I was to have to chose between two brands, both equally good, but one lying and pushing the product on me, it would put me off. But thats just me.

I adore the attitude Megs and Vlad have taken. I personally would have tld everyone who was being rude and illogical to go **** themselves. I respect M&V's patience. Seriously. We ARE their guests. We should have a bit more respect and realise THEY are doing this for US.

If this product was only mentioned by someone who had no affiliation, I could care less. Actually, if this product was mentioned by the owner and was said that this is my product I also don't care. But the fact that the product was being 'pushed' by the owner who knew and told others that she was pushing and they should too is NOT ok. If the owner wanted privacy, then she can decide not to promote her own product on here. It is pretty easy in my opinion and we do have rules and we do care about business ethics and motives. Myself and Vlad are responsible for thousands on this board, that is why we made the statement and handled it this way

I would advise you to take a basic course in business ethics since the concept is too much for you to grasp. Any course in ethics might be helpful for you.

When somone is making numerous posts and threads promoting a particular product and does not reveal that they are an owner of the company...that is unethical, plain and simple. The vast majority of the members here grasp that.

I have a family member who works for an international company that makes a very specific product. Any time he discusses the product in ANY situation, he ALWAYS reveals his affilation with the company. It's the HONEST thing to do.

And if anyone "cut off their nose to spite their face"...it was the business owner. Had she conducted herself in an HONEST and ETHICAL manner here on the board, she would have potentially had thousands of new customers. Instead - whether or not her product is indeed good or not - she has now lost these customers due to her unethical business practices. Not to mention the way she and her friends have responded to the situation.

WELL PUT. This whole thing leaves a very bad taste in my mouth concerning that Shining Monkey. Plain and simple. That is indeed the bottom line.

I didn't read anything about the OP's post that would indicate she's an unethical individual. I also don't think that insulting her intelligence is warranted. It's her opinion and she's entitled to it, just like you are. I agree with your other points, but I think the rest is uncalled for.

Thanks Vlad and Megs. Full disclosure would absolutely made all the difference.

There's a good reason any business curriculum today includes at least one basic course in Business Ethics. You can't teach people to be ethical but you can maybe teach people the difference between good business practices and bad business practices. Just ask Ken Lay and Dennis Kozlowski. Good and ethical practices can make all the difference in the world to a business.
