Happy Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa, Solstice, or holiday season to all our lovely Scarflandians! I am grateful for this kind and generous community, and thankful for each one of you. Wishing you all joy, peace, health and happiness for the year ahead :hugs:

Whether I have been good or not is very much up for debate, but Santa (or his locally contracted delegate, MrBelle 🤣, anyway) was very kind to me this year. A couple of beautiful silks were released from the vault, with the added benefit of surprise as I never know what he will pick.

SOYD was a special one, and a lucky find quite some time ago, that has been waiting for an occasion. I have long wanted to add a Tyger Tyger, and never thought I’d be lucky enough to chance on the SE. Here it is in all its glory:

And SOTD is my beautiful green Vallee du Cristal, which I am excited to finally get after securing one as soon as they were released, over a year ago, now. Shown here with the permabrass Pegase scarf ring. This combo was made for each other:

Sitting down to enjoy some christmassy cocktails. Season’s greetings all!
🎄☃️❄️
Ohhh. I have to try and tir mine like that when my Pegase arrives. Brilliant.

Hello and happy Christmas morning! Please forgive me for bothering you again with my sweet Baobat Cat but I had to post this, it goes so well with my rose bonbon Christmas present! Merlin was just here to demand his daily breakfast and I gave him a special treat for a special day. I hope you are all enjoying the holidays.🎄🎄🎄
PS No orange boxes under the tree, but no problem, at all.😄View attachment 6107345View attachment 6107346View attachment 6107347View attachment 6107348
A stunning look, @darkstar66. You look beautiful and your BC is lovely. Very festive. I am your gav sister. If I had seen your colorway, it would have given mine some serious competition! Please give dear Merlin a big pat for me, sweet little boy.

How time flies! We are at our last theme of the year!

The Oscarfs 2024

Drumroll please! Your fave awards show!

Our regular year-end round-up host @Living.la.vida.fifi is busy with RL. I'll do my best to  with you

Before we get down to celebratingthe scarves which won our hearts this year, a commercial break!

The 2025 SOTD theme list is ready to roll! If you are keen to host a week or two, drop Team Scarf Mistress a message! Join in the fun  We'll be sharing a preview later this week, and the full calendar will be up next Sunday.

And now, back to our regular programming :giggle:

I managed to snag a few grails this year. Here's a hint as to which scarf is receiving the Oscarf for Longest Hunt.

Yes, it's Les Renards.

I've wanted this since I first saw it way back at the start of my orange journey. And that first one I encountered was a special edition priced at $6k :faint: Subsequent encounters with this elusive beauty were always fleeting, until this year when a friendly seller offered it to me at a non-heart-attack-inducing price :sweatdrop: Congrats, Les Renards, you win the Oscarf for Longest Hunt

The second award for Most Pleasant Surprise goes to Les Jardins d'Armenie. Karen Petrossian did 2 designs to celebrate Armenian culture. I really liked both. Lettres d'Erevan is a CSGM, so it was on the maybe list (tropical weather limit on any greed for cashmere). So I decided several years ago to get the 90 Les Jardins. I hit a roadblock for 2 reasons: I'm not a big fan of tiny florals and have skipped several wonderful designs because of this personal preference. Second reason is that the ones in good condition and acceptable price point were not in cws I liked. I finally sprung for the pink, although it looked kind of dull in the seller's photos. I was Most Pleasantly Surprised when a vibrant candy pink arrived! :hbeat:
View attachment 6108813
Honest admission: I still want Lettres, so if ever that lands in my hands, it would be Oscarf-worthy too!

My third award is the Take A Chance on Me Oscarf which goes to the work of another Karen: L'Arbre de Vie by Karen Swildens. Yes, not the L'Arbre of the same name by Christine Henry. I saw it on a reseller site a few years back and was assured that it wasn't some knock-off design. It was, however, the pics were bad, the price was too high to risk it and I wasn't enamoured enough to risk it. I picked it up this year and I'm delighted. @marietouchet identified thus as a Scandinavian Tree of Life. I haven't had the time yet, but I'm definitely going to delve into the folklore behind this.

Start handing out the awards, everyone! It's time for a lookback. In a year when RL has been less than peaceful, take joy in the little things of life. The Carpe Diem award, anyone?
Thank you for hosting these last two weeks of the year, @xincinsin, and my word, what finds :faint:, especially The Little Foxes. Oh my!

Good morning and happy Awards Week, Scarflandia! I was visiting with my older grandchildren last night and had some help showcasing my Oscarf for Best Design 2024: Sous le Charme d'Orphee. This year I acquired another cw of the beautiful silk double face (twins with @Jereni and @Cookiefiend) as well as my favorite CSGM, the beautiful terracotta, cobalt blue and grey CSGM. Later in the season my DD and I decided that the caramel was not to be resisted so we are sharing that, which is in her rotation at the moment (she also acquired the blue-- so our Orphee love is a family affair 💙🧡). Thank you for indulging my collage addiction!

So very beautiful and your gorgeous exotic bracelet is *chef's kiss* @Croisette7-- I am thrilled to be your twin...

Gorgeous Quadrige moussie-- definitely Oscarf worthy @Cookiefiend! 🥂

It is a wonderful opera for children of all ages, as they say @GloWW0rM! I am glad you and they enjoyed yourselves...

You look lovely and cozy @Helena7!

Amazing! Congratulations on all of them and I especially enjoyed seeing your two SS25 new-ins @Redbirdhermes! Livre d'Esop is very high on my list-- I am so eager to see colorways-- does yours actually have a pink elephant? And the picnic scarf!!! Just wonderful.

Thank you @xincinsin for hosting the Oscarfs Week. and for sharing your three amazing grails!!! All three are beautiful -- the color on your Jardin d'Armenie is striking and I never knew that there was another L'Arbre de Vie! Of course the de Poret is the subject of many a scarf collector's dreams...
Thank you, dear LKB!
I love Oscarf Week because it is such a great prelude to New Year's Scarf Resolutions. Now I can look back and see all the resolutions I failed to keep from 2024  while at the same time, giving myself awards for the bounty all those broken rules yielded!!!

But here's my first category, which is nothing but pure joy and the satisfaction of a long hunt finally yielding silk gold...

This is a great Oscarf! I've got to think about this one. I tried to be a good girl this year  but my first purchase was on 2 Jan 2024, so it was very much "Resistance is Futile"

Twins on both, nice to see the caramel works with mint or aqua.

Thank you, dear Karenska. You show that this gav can be styled in a completely different way and it looks so beautiful on you! Would love to promenade our two Cats together with you!

Good evening!!

This year have been a year of many attempts to not add scarves to the collection - all of Them has been remarkably unsuccesful. It seems like all the designs I have been looking for for years decided to just waltz by and tempt me in 2024.
A few of the nominees for personal grail of the year are
Voyages de Pytheas, Shackleton and Cosmographia universalis. I might have reached my quota of fantastic pink worlds
IMG_9714.jpeg
IMG_9715.jpeg
IMG_9713.jpeg
My sotd was Mystere au 24 - one of the few I picked up from the store this year besides the avalanche of preloved treasure hunting.
IMG_9711.jpeg
I wore it to meet a friend to have a last minute peek at the H store today.
The result: I Can now definitively point to the winner of My Last Scarf of the Year.
Heavily inspired by many of you and with a sigh of relief of the background color being silvery and not white, I brought home Emile et une nuit. Really no one would have believed I could resist those lovely creatures and colors…
IMG_9712.jpeg
Tomorrow will be a day of intensive cooking and eventually celebrating with Good friends, so this is my last post this year. Thank you all for your kind words, compliments and wonderful and effective enablement - I wish you all a very happy New Year!!!

2024 was the year that I finally embraced the CSGM. Four have entered the collection, including the two on the right that haven't been worn yet.

Here are the nominees for CSGM of the Year.

20241230_092022.jpg

From Left to Right we have:

Voitures en Equilibre - Daiske Nomura

I'm a big Nomura fan, and I was eyeing the little dragon cart in the 45 version for ages. I finally decided to go big with this design.

20241227_143807.jpg20241029_173321.jpg

Le Livre d'Esope - Matthieu Cosse

This pretty arrived yesterday, and yes, @LKBNOLA, there is a pink elephant.

20241229_122131.jpg20241230_091622.jpg

High Flyer - Dimitri Rybaltchenko

I've been wanting this cockpit shawl for ages, and it finally came along in my favorite colorway. While this is a helicopter, the cockpit is not unlike the small aircraft that I flew. I'm looking forward to wearing this scarf a lot.

H553405T 02.jpg20241227_143349.jpg20241227_143658.jpg

Sous le Charme d'Orphee - Alice Shirley

After finally succumbing and obtaining two of the double face 90s in the second half of the year, I hurried to pick out a CSGM before they were sold out. This is a very special design.

20241121_134224.jpg

It turns out that I wear the Voitures en Equilibre nearly every time I leave the house. So far our winter weather has been mild, having gone below 0 F only once. To answer @darkstar66, we had several inches of snow for Christmas but it has all melted away. My Voitures has turned into an everyday workhorse.

The Oscarf for the CSGM of the Year, being the Most Worn Scarf this winter, is Voitures en Equilibre. Here is my scarf of the day mod shot.
