Fellow scarifies - I'm writing a little apology. I've been told that my Aux Pays de Epices is a fake, a pretty one, but a fake none the less. I've reported the posts to the mods and asked them to remove them so no one makes the same mistake I did in thinking it was an authentic Hermes scarf.
I'm so sorry and terribly embarrassed.
:hugs:Take heart! Them fakers are getting ever more wily. The seller you bought it from is mainly a buyer, and that seems to be the only "H" in her sale list. Hope you can get your money back.

Oh, bother, you too? :console: Silver lining, I've saved all sorts of scarf money over the years by being indecisive!
Yes, I console myself with that silver lining too :giggle: (and get my kicks looking at the drool-worthy posts here!)

For those who don't have 70cm vintage scarves or dip dyes (lookin' at you, fifi), don't forget that older scarves can be incredibly soft and some years seem softer than others. Multiple hand washings can soften scarves too.
A soft old scarf: Veneries de Princes [1957] showing the mesh jacquard

Kimonos et Inros, washed many times to improve the color run on the yellow parts that even boiling water rinses didn't eliminate. (And the seller didn't mention it, either -- my fault for not noticing.)

Face au Large [2000] and Voyage au Long Cours [2001] both by Jarlegant and incredibly soft -- note that the years were sequential, so perhaps the sizing was light that year (or the pastel shades were softer).

Love that Veneries de Princes! Those old Venerie-themed scarves are so pretty!

Please don’t be embarrassed. Put it away for a while until the pain subsides.

FIzzyWater, could you show this flat? I'm quite confused by all the scarves which have been named Amazones :confused1:

xincinsin, I don't have the Carre d'Art book with me here, but she says that this is Les Amazones I:

Les Amazones II is the much more popular one with the circles of horses.

She names this as Les Amazones III and I've also seen it as Les Amazones Special Edition Parfums (I also have it with a white border/center):

Apparently they came out in consecutive years, in the early 70s IIRC. Weirdly, piwigo has I and III reversed.

Try scrunching it up and keeping it in a plastic ziploc bag.

Hm. You think that would give it more volume? Worth a shot, thanks!

Thank you, FizzyWater. I have #2 (must excavate it and use it again). #3 looks very pretty when worn (note to self: no espionage tactics to escape Ban Island)

I think it will depend on the humidity (or lack of humidity) in your environment but the concept has something to do with static electricity. Kind of like teasing out your hair with a comb to create more volume at the crown.

Ha - my hair never has volume either so this is all new territory for me. But thank you, lala28, I will try it and report back!

Yes, #1 and #3 are more old-fashioned compared to #2 - that totally looks like it could have come out 20 years later. I like the starker graphics as opposed to the more painterly style, which is fine - less competition with all y'all. :)

My favorite is really #1. The colors look horrible in the flat picture, but it's a gorgeous rich red-on-red:

'Puddles' :lol::lol::lol:
But of the most awesome sort! I'd love to see that Cavalcadour on - 140cm of silky puddle has to be amazing!

SOTD is L’Arbre de Vie. My first attempt at bunnycat’s pleated improvised cowboy. I like it but it needs refining. Have a great Monday everyone!
