2018: Year of the Samourai (for me, anyway!)
I started the year with this cw of Samourai - the last one in the entire country, said the SA. I fell hard for that sales tactic. You got me good, H!

Then we collectively went gaga for the csgm! I went for this cw:

I am usually not partial to small prints because they seem to make me look either too old or too young, haha. But somehow this one works for me! Perhaps it’s because it’s in a large format. In any case, I also was drawn to blue/orange combos so I said yes to the dress — er, shawl!

Duuuuuuuude, this one needs no introduction. So happy it’s mine!!! (But strangely, I don’t find myself wearing it much. Need to analyze that...)

Back to the purples! My fave cw of Dancing Pearls became mine this year!! I think it may not have come up on people’s radar because it was advertised as “Sancing Pearls,” haha!

Nuees Imaginaires wasn’t on my radar but this is a cw I couldn’t refuse. DS calls it my “sneezy scarf” because all the little critters look like ... well, like they’ve just sneezed and their spray is in the air... [emoji38]

Like our dear Bunnycat, I was soooo thrilled to add this to my collection! I regretted not getting this when it first came out and dithered over which one to get. By the time I decided, they were all gone!

Despite my frustrated expression, I was/am so happy with this Tyger Tyger! I think it’s my fave csgm. It kept me so warm during a recent trip to France.

Ending the year with another purple, hee hee! A cw of Confessions that I love!

This was a really nice exercise. I’d thought my scarf buying had trickled down to nothing but the proof above says otherwise. What I’ve learned is to buy only what you love, don’t compromise on cws. I’m really really happy with the nine I’ve added in 2018. They’ve all seen a good amount of use and I love how they make me feel when I wear them.

Oh, I did say it was the year of the Samourai, didn’t I? I can’t end the year without bookending it with another one! I paid in 2018 but haven’t received it yet but here’s a shot of me trying it on at H in Paris - can’t wait to wear it in the spring!

Wow ! All so amazing on you! You really rock purple!

I tried venturing into the world of 140s, starting with silk

Then cashmere.

What have I learned?

... I like scarves. I wear one almost every day. I would rather have a great scarf than additional shoes that I don't wear, clothes I don't need, or jewelry that just gets shoved in a drawer. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of researching, buying, and wearing scarves.

But, I also think that I am nearing a critical mass. There aren't many more that I can fit in my drawers and I think I have a scarf for nearly every occasion. There are still some gaps I need to fill (particularly for spring and summer), but I feel like a hungry person who gobbles half the meal before being able to take a deep breath and slow down. I can now take my time and enjoy the rest of the process. It really is fun!
Thanks for sharing your scarf year with us! All beautiful!

Squeezing in at the end of the week, my most loved purchases of 2018 (all longstanding H.G.'s to me) were all acquired due to others simplifying their own collections...thank you.
At bottom left, Premiere Mains (because I come from a family of cavers and my grandmother saw the originals before the caves were closed; I remember having a postcard of some of the images from when she went back again in 70's to see the reproductions), Les Femmes aux Semelles du Vent (because I remember from when I was a young girl said grandmother's trip to Tibet and still have a few mementos that she gave me including a postcard with a similar view of this monastry) and Les Giraffes (which I simply missed in the stores but fell in love with the very first time I saw it here on TPF).
2018 was a trial in many respects but very good to me in terms of H.
