This arrived on Monday so it just squeaked in under the wire for 2018 purchases. I found a lot of beauties this year....and maybe just need to close my eyes for the first quarter of this year to give the checkbook a rest.

Here is an oldie but goodie from S/S 2009 - Carre Kantha moussie

Great colors! Also your ring. And the scarf ring!

I wish you great good luck in your search, xincinsin!

And I wish you good luck in your search, too, momasaurus! I feel so honored to have put one of my scarves on TWO wish lists!

Fifi, I will help you with the scene. Islamabad sits right at the base of the Margalla "Hills'. They are either the same height or higher than the Appalachian or Blue Ridge mountains here in the USA. Pakistan doesn't bother to name any mountains unless they are 21,000 feet or higher - that's how many peaks they have. Monkeys by the boatload, leopards, wild boars and other wildlife descend down and roam the streets or cluster around the big mosque. The first week we were there, the embassy put out a warning about cobras on the 35 acre embassy compound (where we lived). So life was never boring. :P

Thank you for your kind words, Croisette7!
I'm laughing (Pakistan doesn't bother to name any mountains unless they are 21,000 feet or higher) and squealing (cobras!!) at the same time!

This was a special Brides de Gala year for me as well. I already owned the pink/cream Brides Fleuris but decided to get the black CW for my son’s high school graduation in May.

In January I purchased the Brides de Gala Love gavroche in two CWs for my daughter. So cute! I really should borrow them and play around with this format that still intimidates me.

So, somehow Brides de Gala Love is the one design I always buy to give away. I had purchased the 90cm to give as a special gift to one of my dearest friends who has through the years given me a few very special scarves. So the Love design was SO fitting for her! But not getting it for myself, I always regretted it. Well, this past year, I luckily was able to change that and I’m thrilled that it is finally all mine... and my friend and I can be twins!! So special!

As a new person here, and one who is not into horses or horse riding equipment, although I think horses are beautiful creatures, just the same, I am stunned by the beauty of that black and white and floral Brides de Gala scarf you wore to your son's graduation. I am also stunned that I am stunned by the beauty of that scarf, because that is a design I would skip over again and again while browing the Hermes site, even though it is a respected and much loved classic design. I now think that Brides de Gala in black and white with the flowers is a scarf I would like to have for myself. It ties magnificently, and it looks beyond spectacular on you. I had no idea I could fall for a scarf with-- a design of horse bridles on it?! Is that even what they are?

And since I am commenting upon this scarf, might I tell you that I don't think there is a single colorway of any scarf that would not work with your coloring? I do not know how this is possible, yet it is true. I am amazed at the images you have posted of yourself wearing scarves with bright colors, yellows, golden colors, muted colors, pale colors, and now black and white, and all of these look perfect on you. You are like a scarf chameleon. Thank you for all of the time you have taken to help others, including me, see the beauty of these scarves.

You are so lucky to have seen several Pivoines IRL. We are deprived here in the northeast US!
Only three, and none of them was in my shortlisted selection. On the other hand, I might end up not buying any of my shortlist. That's what happened with Acte III. Eagerly awaiting @HermesHope's turquoise(?) cw.

Absolutely yummy!

And, De Passage a Moscou is one of those Grails that have always eluded me. I would be happy with ANY CW, although I refuse to pay an unthinkable price. Maybe this will be my year? Fingers crossed... Yours is spectacular!
This was also a year of unthinkable prices. There was much horror on the OMG They want how much thread regarding 90s going for more than a grand (just to clarify - resellers, not exceptionelles).

I would still like to see that turquoise IRL. And now your bronze CW has me really intrigued.
I forgot about that thread, but was personally horrified by some of the eBay prices. Some 90s are now in the 700-800 range!!

Love them both! I have already copied you on the La Maison.

Love to be your triplet on the gorgeous mousseline. I'm half sad half relieved that they stopped doing good moussie designs - at least one less source of temptation

Here are the scarves that I bought in 2018 - a mixture of new and used. I cannot decide on my favourite, although Jaguar Quetzal may be first past the finishing post. L’Ombre des Pivoines may eventually turn out to be my favourite for 2019, although I am cheating a bit and including it in this list as I bought it in 2018! But who knows?

Top row, L to R: Baobab Cat gavroche, La Femme aux Semelles de Vent, Jaguar Quetzal, A L’Ombre des Pivoines
Bottom row L to R: Persepolis, Bibliothéque gavroche, Coup de Fouet au Bloc twilly
beautiful choices and perfect selection for you!

These are all wonderful designs. I love the idea of giving scarves to friends — unfortunately, none of my friends enjoy scarves, although I often think they would make a great gift for special occasions. I love the knot in the last photo!
Thank you so much! My friend knows that I love scarves, especially Hermès so she has given me a number of beautiful and special ones through the years, although none were Hermès. Since she has always admired my H scarves I really wanted to treat her.

You know, I have seen a few on TheRealReal for a ‘normal price’ before. It wasn’t the CW I wanted to I didn’t get it.

My hotel has a bouquet with this plant that makes me think of Jardins Creole every time I pass it by. After googling the design to refresh my memory, I don’t know if it’s actually the same kind, as I am clearly not a botanist! View attachment 4295721
I’ve also seen it in the RealReal and by the time I decided, I missed out. I’ve been always waiting for maybe another CW coming along to compare but at this point I’ll take any if I find it at the right price!

I will! I picked out the hot pink one and it is currently in the "presents for later" stash Mr Bcat keeps on tap....

This is so elegant on you fifi! Love the cape-let! (I think I may be your twin on it. I have a white one too...)

This color is so perfect for you bobkat!
The pink will be great for you. I saw it IRL and it’s beautiful. I loved that capelet jacket so much that I also got it in black... Thank you so much!

First time wearing my lozenge shape scarf. I really like this size

That looks like such an easy shape to drape and tie. Really want to play around with it when I visit H next. Yours is gorgeous! The pop of orange hem is fantastic!

I keep forgetting I have this scarf. And with all the purple I wear, it's a shame.

(Obviously not a 2018 purchase.)
Oh, I love how it ties! Great CW!

Ah, the all white with that POP of Brides de Gala is gorgeous!
Thank you so much! The outfit came first and I knew I wanted to wear a new and special scarf with it. I knew immediately this was the one I wanted! Luckily it was so readily available. It’s still on the website!

Thank you so very much for such lovely compliments! I highly recommend the Brides Fleuris... It is a timeless design made edgy and modern with the tattoo and so feminine with the flowers. You must take a look at it up close... the flowers look actually as if embroidered in the most realistic trompe l’oeil!
And regarding being a chamaleon that wears anything, it wasn’t always this way so I know it’s more mind over matter. In my younger years I avoided yellow, grey and some neutrals. Then, when I became a shameless old lady, I removed the barriers and began to wear EVRYTHING... with gusto!
Another example is that I went for decades without wearing pierced earrings because the hole in one ear had been pierced way off center when I was a little girl so earrings always stuck out in a conspicuous way. Then, in these shameless years, that limitation is also out the window. Also, I’m very short and wear THE biggest, boldest statement jewelry in the planet. I hear people say that they don’t have the stature to wear certain pieces and... look at short ME!! I go for it and pull it off always!
Nothing’s gonna stop me from wearing and enjoying every beautiful thing that comes my way (provided I can afford it, of course!)... My motto in this respect: No more mental boundaries and I’m gonna make it work!

So very true about the prices everywhere. I remember when I was offered a Turandot for $400! I’m still looking for one and it looks more and more hopeless!

Your philosophy is quite right, fifi!

You can really pull off that La Maison! It reminds of the Surf one — love the design, cannot pull it off to save my life.

This color way is perfect for your shirt!

The scarf is lovely, and I am so fond of the colors on it, which look great on you. It must be so much fun to have such strong associations with a lovely part of your life.
Thank you so much!

These were all purchases made in 2018 of scarves from past seasons... before it was too late:

I knew I wanted Ndop the minute I found about the history and inspiration behind the design, but wasn’t totally convinced that it was for me and kept putting it off until I ordered it on impulse from the H website and it became a keeper.

Fouets et Badines was probably the design that most surprised me at the beginning of the Fall/Winter 2017 season when I saw it displayed at the H boutique. The checkered hem jumped at me. But it was a design I kept leaving behind for others. Until I saw the green one worn by a Hermès aficionado I follow on Instagram and, inspired by him, I knew I had to have it in the same CW.

Appaloosa des Steppes was one I avoided because the giant spotted horse with the staring eye gave me the creeps, so I never even tried it on. But then I saw so many beauties here on TPF that I decided to give it a try and it was love at first tie. Now there are tons of CWs still on the H website and I may even go for the more neutral CW. Love it so much!

I thought I wanted Etude pour une Parure de Gala in the black and white but they never had it at my H store. Then last summer when I was buying my Acte III, I tried the pink on and died. Didn’t decide on it right then and there but thought about it every day until I finally went and got it. And with it came the white later. I had to because it’s such a luxurious swath of decadent white and I gasped when I saw @Pautinka wear it to the theater. Maybe I can still get the black, it’s such an elegant classic.

Finally, Jardin a Sintra. Fell in love with the design but could never make up my mind about the CW. I tried on the blue/purple with the orange border in the summer and was blown away but kept remembering other CWs I had seen on TPF, namely @Croisette7 neutral one. But I had my SA hold the blue/purple for me until he called me before Christmas asking whether I still wanted it. I couldn’t commit because the more neutral one was haunting me. Then the night I purchased Animapolis from the H site, there was the neutral Sintra suddenly available, but I left it in my cart for still a few more days. The night I went in and purchased it I went back to look and it was gone. So, I may have gotten the last one? This was my last purchase of 2018... I am soooo in love with it!
