2018 was a pretty bad year for my wallet. Really, I have to calm down...

My favorite picks:

I hear you on the 'I have to calm down..." I need to slow my roll as well...but you do look marvelous! :)

This arrived on Monday so it just squeaked in under the wire for 2018 purchases. I found a lot of beauties this year....and maybe just need to close my eyes for the first quarter of this year to give the checkbook a rest.

Here is an old, but goodie from S/S 2009 - Carre Kantha moussie

There the excitement ended really; the SA could barely contain his boredom, regularly checking his watch then getting his phone out. I’ve never experienced such poor service in an H store before, and ordinarily I’d “reward” that by walking out without buying, but I did spy Shopping au Fauberg which has been eluding me til now so I grudgingly bought it, DD and good friend both told me I’d regret it if I passed on it.

My last buys for 2018: A l'Ombre des Pivoines and Animapolis. SS19 is going to just slay me :frown:
Tied Pivoines a few different ways as I'd promised Fifi and @Satya83 that I'd try to do modshots.

Thank you so much for these! The Pivoines is exquisite! This is definitely one that I’m considering now... And, it’s such a splendorous design! Ties beautifully! Congrats!

Oooh - so jealous of the Hippopolis! Great score! (I do have a GP du F coming my way....hope to see it by Valentines.....hope hope hope....)

These are lovely! They remind me of sepia tone pictures!
Thank you! And please post the Grand Prix when you get it. Such an awesome scarf! I love mine. Which CW did you get?

No idea about their listing. I was tempted to buy the book, but decided it would just introduce more temptation into my life  Some resellers are now referring to it to enhance their descriptions, but I'm more interested in the condition of the scarf.
Hmmm... Inuse mine as reference all the time... I’m going to pore over it to try to find these two!

All gorgeous BUT this is my ABSOLUTE favorite CW of Early America... Sigh...

@Living.la.vida.fifi you look awesome in every color! And your knots are TDF. :flowers: So much to learn here.
What a lovely compliment... Thank you so much!

View attachment 4295394 Here it is, I will still enjoy wearing it despite the rubbish service...
Oh my! I’m so sorry service was so bad there! But you did good with this one and didn’t walk out empty handed!

This was a special Brides de Gala year for me as well. I already owned the pink/cream Brides Fleuris but decided to get the black CW for my son’s high school graduation in May.

In January I purchased the Brides de Gala Love gavroche in two CWs for my daughter. So cute! I really should borrow them and play around with this format that still intimidates me.

So, somehow Brides de Gala Love is the one design I always buy to give away. I had purchased the 90cm to give as a special gift to one of my dearest friends who has through the years given me a few very special scarves. So the Love design was SO fitting for her! But not getting it for myself, I always regretted it. Well, this past year, I luckily was able to change that and I’m thrilled that it is finally all mine... and my friend and I can be twins!! So special!

:roflmfao: DH just says: " You have 20 min. Go to your H." It really focuses my mind in the dutyfree

Wishlisted this when you first posted, bobkat. Such a lovely cw of Chants du Henne!
I wish you great good luck in your search, xincinsin!

Great picture!
Very pretty scarf, and quite a find. Wishlist!
And I wish you good luck in your search, too, momasaurus! I feel so honored to have put one of my scarves on TWO wish lists!

What an amazing parade of lovelies! All gorgeous, but my favs are Jaguar Quetzal and Persepolis. I’ve been looking for a Persepolis for a while now and would love this CW!

Lucky you to be there! I love the H stores in spain! Everyone is so nice and gracious! Lovely silk... Enjoy!

@Cookiefiend explains it so well! Although it’s quite simple

Gorgeousness!!

Oh, I love this anecdote! I closed my eyes and tried to picture the scene!
Fifi, I will help you with the scene. Islamabad sits right at the base of the Margalla "Hills'. They are either the same height or higher than the Appalachian or Blue Ridge mountains here in the USA. Pakistan doesn't bother to name any mountains unless they are 21,000 feet or higher - that's how many peaks they have. Monkeys by the boatload, leopards, wild boars and other wildlife descend down and roam the streets or cluster around the big mosque. The first week we were there, the embassy put out a warning about cobras on the 35 acre embassy compound (where we lived). So life was never boring. :P

Wonderful story, bobkat, and the moussie is heavenly dreamy.

Very pretty, fifi!

Simply sublime Pivoines, xincinsin! Love it!
Thank you for your kind words, Croisette7!

I cannot and will not leave this scarf off my favorites list! De Passage A Moscou was on my wishlist for a long time, in the etoupe and gold colorway. When I saw this cw for sale, I thought "even better!" and hit BIN at the speed of light!

I lived in Moscow for 2 years with my late husband from 1995 to 1997. It was my first time living overseas and it informed me that I was NOT dreadful at languages! I got along very well in Russian....unlike my high school and college French in Quebec (which was a dreadful failure!)Passage au Moscou.jpg
