One of the first pieces of advice an SA gave me was: "Buy only one scarf from each season". Perhaps she could foresee my helter-skelter slide down the orange slope...
That's either a very considerate SA or someone giving reverse psychology a try

Awesome scarves!30 Dec 2018 SCARVES OF THE YEAR: your favorite purchase(s) this year (new or new-to-you)
On the final week of the year I’m back after a brief hiatus due to a few RL issues. I am so glad to be here to share and to learn and to marvel at all of the silky wonders. I will be covering this week for dear @ABQ2ATL who is taking a break to take care of some issues at home.
Thank you, for the intro, dear @xincinsin . I am so humbled and excited to contribute to this forum as member of Team Scarf Mistress next Year!
This week’s theme is so much fun as we share our favorite and most special purchases of the year, as well as those that are from new designers or “new” to us in any way (a designer that we’ve just discovered, or a new format that we’ve experimented with, or a new discovery that we’ve made, etc.). So many possibilities!
One of my favorite scarves this year was Edgard Baribeaud’s Acte III, Scene 1, La Clairiere. Baribeaud is a new designer for Hermès and I was so happy to discover this design and add it to my collection. It was my first purchase of the Fall/Winter 2018 season. View attachment 4291881
Another new designer for Hermès is Jan Bajtlik who created the delightful and popular Animapolis for the Spring/Summer 2019 collection. This scarf is also my first purchase of the coming season. I immediately fell in love with it and it has already become a favorite.View attachment 4291875
And, now on to a couple of new and innovative concepts at Hermès: the interactive scarf and carré wash...
La Tour de Monde en 63 Cases is Hermès’ first interactive scarf and this idea was so innovative and fun that I couldn’t resist getting two CWs.
Also, this year Hermès introduced the carre wash or washable silk concept and I fell in love with the special vintage feel of these carrés and made the delightful Coupé de Gala my own.

And as far as favorites go, I must mention my lucky find in February of the yellow/grey CW of Parures de Samouraïs. Many here knew about my angst at having passed on that CW and a very kind SA tracked it down for me when all hope was lost. I’ve been over the moon with it since.View attachment 4291879
Another very lucky find of an amazing scarf was Flamingo Party, the special Miami boutique edition, which my SA casually and quite magically offered me in August. I was floored that they still had one of this rare edition floating around at the store. This is my very first scarf of an edition created for a specific city/store.View attachment 4291872
This was also the year that some very special vintage Grails came my way from designers new to me:
Fleurs d’Ecosse by Sylvia Kerr;
Chaque Rencontre est Unique by Hajine Katagiri; and Zabavushka by Evgenia Miroshnichenko.

Finally, there is my last scarf of 2018: Grand Manège Detail which has quickly become a favorite in my wardrobe. Can’t wait to see all of the beauties you will all share and how you will expand on this fun topic!
I remember when fifi got this FP thinking that it looks so much like yours. Is it actually different? Sorry not to know this....Welcome! I was thinking you might be the new new team scarf mistress.
Lots of beauties here, but that Miami edition of flamingo party would be so pe4fect for me! Jealous of that one!
Glad that we can feature multiple favorites, because it would be hard to pick just one or 2.
I think I'll make several posts of my favorite finds of the year. First up: a L'Instruction du Roy from the 1990's in Olive, Sienna and Gold

I love this one!!
Yes, mine has a cyclamen border whereas this one seems to have a blue or teal one.I remember when fifi got this FP thinking that it looks so much like yours. Is it actually different? Sorry not to know this....
Lucky you to find the moussie!I join the scarfies saying thank you to @bunnycat, @xincinsin, and @ABQ2ATL as our lovely team Scarf Mistress 2018! And a warm hug in welcome to @Living.la.vida.fifi as part of the Scarf Mistress team 2019. You've set this week off to a great start!
@Croisette7, what a beautiful Plume CSGM as a feathery contribution for last week!
@ElainePG, I'm in awe at your willpower to buy only 1 scarf - what a gorgeous moussie! This discipline would be fun to apply to my own collecting process.
fifi and bunny, I loved each your summaries of the year's favourites, it was a quick trip down memory lane of this year's posts.
@seasounds, what a romantic gift! And you wear it beautifully!
@bobkat1991, an amazing find! Love the elegant colours of olive, sienna, and gold.
@eagle1002us, love its beautiful blues and purples on you! Goes well with your jacket, too.
@Langsam, one of my "sisters in H blues," that gorgeous red suits you well! I'm still searching for an all red/mostly red scarf to fall in love with...sigh!
I have two true favourites this year, but I'm still too besotted with both, I haven't worn them!Selle de Dignitaire 90cm and, a happy discovery in an H airport shop, Della Cavalleria cw06 mousseline!

Well, the brighter colors are definitely gorgeous on you... And you embraced them with two splendid samples! Such beautiful shades in this one! Can't wait to see you model the Animapolis... Nevermind the other posts... We are looking forward to yours! My fave purchase of 2018 is Animapolis but you've seen a couple pics of that recently. Here is my "most influential" purchase of the year, A Travers Champs which finally convinced me YES, I can do "colorful colors"! It broke my extensive blues-pastels-neutrals streak. I would not have sprung for Animapolis if I had not gotten this one first.
Thank you ever so much! I can’t believe you haven’t broken them out of the box! You must do so as soon as possible because they are surely a joy to wear! Congrats on both! And wishing you a most wonderful New Year!I join the scarfies saying thank you to @bunnycat, @xincinsin, and @ABQ2ATL as our lovely team Scarf Mistress 2018! Nope... The Miami edition is a distinct teal different from the others. Remember when I was trying to decide about the purchase and I consulted you about it? So glad I got it for it is a treasure! Thanks so much for your advice, @momasaurus!I remember when fifi got this FP thinking that it looks so much like yours. Is it actually different? Sorry not to know this....
Thank you so much! I hope I can explain in a way that it’s understood because I’m not very good at providing clear instructions about knots. On all of these the scarf is folded once in a rectangle but the key is that instead of trying a knot, a scarf ring is used so that there is lots of material to flop around. The exception was Samouraïs which I actually knotted. The entire rectangle is used to make the knot and not only two of the corners with an emphasis on fanning out as much fabric as possible. Also, the knot is not the usual tight double knot, but more like a simple foldAwesome scarves!
I love the big floppy knot you make (like Acte III, Samourais, and the last one). How do you accomplish this???

Really love those fuschias on you! That Tigre is really special.Like fifi said, there are so many ways to go this week on favorite purchases.
I started out 2018 with the resolution to locate some of my personal "grails" and 2018 delivered and then some with several favorites and more than just a few grail searches...(my wallet is still recovering...) So I guess I'll start with january of 2018 and just make my way through the year over the course of the week. (I'm actually having to consult my scarf purchase files to do this there were so many things this past year...
)
After finishing off 2017 right (Parures de Samourais for Xmas) and right after buying Jaguar Quetzal CW 01 the day it came out on h dot com, January-February dropped a long sought after scarf right at my feet....I had searched for a Tigre Royal for some time and to find it not only in my preferred colorway (purple/gold), but also in the preferred format (70cm) was a real bonus!
View attachment 4292059
This was followed shortly after by a drive by purchase (at H-matic) of a scarf I didn't expect to find... Sieste au Paradis also in purple/pink....
View attachment 4292061
and (seriously???!!) the week after that one was Bains d'Hermes. Honestly one of my best purchases of 2018. Easy to wear, always looks fresh, colorful, and a really fabulous format....This is probably my most worn scarf of the year.
View attachment 4292067
Really pretty on the pink! This year I only bought one scarf, but it's a beauty! I've never been tempted by mousselines, because at 5-feet-nothing I've always thought all that fabric would overpower me. But lurking on the Mousselines thread last spring, I discovered that... in a universe far far away... Hermés once made PM (90cm) Mousselines!!! Yesssssss! (Elaine does a happy dance.) The hunt was on.
After a couple of intense months, I found my dream PM Moussie: Ciels Byzantins.
