30 Dec 2018 SCARVES OF THE YEAR: your favorite purchase(s) this year (new or new-to-you)
On the final week of the year I’m back after a brief hiatus due to a few RL issues. I am so glad to be here to share and to learn and to marvel at all of the silky wonders. I will be covering this week for dear
@ABQ2ATL who is taking a break to take care of some issues at home.
Thank you, for the intro, dear
@xincinsin . I am so humbled and excited to contribute to this forum as member of Team Scarf Mistress next Year!
This week’s theme is so much fun as we share our favorite and most special purchases of the year, as well as those that are from new designers or “new” to us in any way (a designer that we’ve just discovered, or a new format that we’ve experimented with, or a new discovery that we’ve made, etc.). So many possibilities!
One of my favorite scarves this year was Edgard Baribeaud’s Acte III, Scene 1, La Clairiere. Baribeaud is a new designer for Hermès and I was so happy to discover this design and add it to my collection. It was my first purchase of the Fall/Winter 2018 season.

Another new designer for Hermès is Jan Bajtlik who created the delightful and popular Animapolis for the Spring/Summer 2019 collection. This scarf is also my first purchase of the coming season. I immediately fell in love with it and it has already become a favorite.

And, now on to a couple of new and innovative concepts at Hermès: the interactive scarf and carré wash...
La Tour de Monde en 63 Cases is Hermès’ first interactive scarf and this idea was so innovative and fun that I couldn’t resist getting two CWs.
Also, this year Hermès introduced the carre wash or washable silk concept and I fell in love with the special vintage feel of these carrés and made the delightful Coupé de Gala my own.

And as far as favorites go, I must mention my lucky find in February of the yellow/grey CW of Parures de Samouraïs. Many here knew about my angst at having passed on that CW and a very kind SA tracked it down for me when all hope was lost. I’ve been over the moon with it since.

Another very lucky find of an amazing scarf was Flamingo Party, the special Miami boutique edition, which my SA casually and quite magically offered me in August. I was floored that they still had one of this rare edition floating around at the store. This is my very first scarf of an edition created for a specific city/store.

This was also the year that some very special vintage Grails came my way from designers new to me:
Fleurs d’Ecosse by Sylvia Kerr;
Chaque Rencontre est Unique by Hajine Katagiri; and Zabavushka by Evgenia Miroshnichenko.

Finally, there is my last scarf of 2018: Grand Manège Detail which has quickly become a favorite in my wardrobe. Can’t wait to see all of the beauties you will all share and how you will expand on this fun topic!
