Hi,

Just did an online repair request. Both handles: $390 Binding $100 Each side strap is $100 for $690 total. Initially quoted $1070 which included replacing the bottom piping and the inner locking system. I asked for a price breakdown and was able to decline the piping and locking system replacement.

Not sure why she offered to replace the bottom piping considering its in perfect condition and its not vachetta but I was told they make commission off repairs... not sure how true that is.

Based on all the steps needed, they actually will need to disassemble the whole bag completely. So while they are at it, it is very easy to just use a new leather strip for the bottom piping instead of the old one. They will need to do that step anyway. And since it is more hassle to adjust an old used piping under the sewing machine, I wouldn't be surprised if your bag would come back with a new piping anyway. It is a more difficult job to keep the old parts.
There are many cases on the forum when people report that they got this and that extra repair done complimentary. And in most cases it is not because Vuitton is that nice, but because it is easier for the craftsman to do it from scratch with brand new materials than reusing the old one.

Part of me is hoping this is the case for my locking system. I dont use it... I honestly forgot it was there until she mentioned it... so I wouldnt mind if they didnt put it back on the bag. I just dont want to pay the extra cost for new vachetta on something I wont use.

My quote was online. US based. Glad to know the zipper does include the lining replacement. I had forgot to ask.

This may sound crazy but did you recently purchase this bag from a Japanese seller? I swear this is one of the bags I was looking at (based off the serial code) before being offered an amazing price for my trousse.

I did! Actually, I screenshot the pics and send them to LV before I bought the trousse. I knew I would have to replace the interior anyway but I also knew I wanted to stay below the cots of a new Toiletry bag. So in the end It will be a little over 300€. Bag + Repair

All in all, I had both D rings replaced, the zipper pull replaced, the vachetta tab, and they ordered me a new strap.

I'm confused on the pricing because they did not charge me for everything that was done. Also, they charged me less than what was on the actual quote. The quote listed the change of the D rings and the leather tab - each $100.00 USD. I double checked with the SA helping me after noticing only those listed if everything else was getting done and she assured me they were.

Oddly enough, my item was ready for pick up two weeks later (I'm still waiting on the replacement strap to come in) and the same SA that helped me when I dropped off, helped me again and she only charged me $150.00 - lol.

Very happy except, when I got home, I noticed a small crack in the canvas on the area of the D ring. I'm wondering if this happened when they were changing it out.

I'm under the impression canvas cannot be repaired but I was stalking a few threads on here and I saw some people say they had canvas repaired in small areas stitched together - Is this true? I have to go back to pick up the strap whenever that comes in, maybe I will bring it back in and ask?

Does anyone had a product they can recommend me use to close the crack up since it's so small?

also, the photo makes it look worse than it actually is - this new iphone's camera to insane :lol:

Is the binding the top piece of the bag? Time frame?
