Hi, I recently purchased a Black City from 2004. It's in decent shape but the handles are a little frayed; does anyone have recommendations for a repair/restoration shop in Los Angeles? This is only my second Bal purchase so I'm not really familiar with how the bags need to be maintained.

If you are talking about the lacing, I'm pretty sure it is rather easily replaced. If you mean the edge-coating has separated and the white is showing, I believe that is fixable too, though not as simple.

The only folks I know he might be able to fix either issue is LovinMyBags.. You might try contacting Barbara with a photo or two, and see what she thinks.

Good luck!

I'm not really sure, but here in the Philippines we have bag repairs shops that can patch broken and torn leather and make it look new.

I think there is something called "leather patch" than can be applied to small areas. This damage looks extensive though, and I wouldn't want to attempt it. Also, the bag looks like suede, which would not blend with the material I'm thinking about.

I've seen handles that were wrapped in ribbon, or scarves that look interesting and pretty. You might do a search and see if any of these ideas would work for your bag.

EDIT: Ooops sorry. I was attempting to respond to the original poster.. Jacquesjax. :shame:

Hi all! I bought a bag awhile back and lost a stud! Has anyone had any experience with buying a replacement stud off ebay? I have not tried to call any Bal stores because my bag was second hand... What can I do???

I bought one of the smaller studs, haven't had to try it though...The backing is not normal. i.e., it isn't a large rivet like ones behind the studs on our bags. I bought it just in case I might need it one day, but I don't think it would stay on without a larger rivet for the back. Maybe you can check out a good hardware store if you buy one of the ebay ones, and it doesn't hold on with the small backing.

Hello girls.
Yesterday I bought a 2011 Grenadine bag. I got it with a discount as the color on the front of the bag had faded (maybe yellowed a little). There is not a great difference with the back or the mirror and otherwise it was new. It was in the windows or under those terrible lights on the shelf for too long. Is there a dye I can use to fix this discoloration? I used the Bal moisturizing cream and also Leather Honey which revived the dry leather but the difference is still the same.
I would appreciate any info here. Have in mind that I live in Europe so I realized that some products (leather dyes) can only be shipped to residents of USA or Canada.
Please help me out here.
Thanks in advance.

Wish I had some better news.
There is really nothing that will bring back color that has faded. I'm sorry. Dying your bag will surely ruin the texture and depth of the finish, even if you could get a perfect match.

I would only use dye if you really hate the way the front of your bag looks.
Tarrago leather dyes are the most popular, but remember, they are essentially paint. I've had a bag dyed professionally, and even the experts can not make Bal leather look natural once color is applied.

You might do a search on the forum for some "DIY" (do it yourself) projects before you decide what to do next.

Thank you for your suggestion Conni618! I'll definitely check the website.

Hi girls !

I bought a (cinnamon I guess ?) Day today, it's beautiful but unfortunately there is a leather part missing between the handle and the bag (2nd pic). Unfortunately seller did not mention it :nogood: :

Do you know where I could fix it ?

Wow, that's very bad. I really recommend you to return the bag. It seems like you bought it off on ebay. The seller should have disclosed it. It's pain in the neck to have it repair. A good leather repair person can find a way to repair it. But it won't match the original part completly. If you knew this flaw, you wouldn't have bought it, right? I hope you will be able to return the bag smoothly. Good luck!

Try to return it. Balenciaga stores don't accept repairs even if you pay unless the item is bought from one of their Boutiques.

Thanks for your answer girls !

Yesterday evening, I found the part missing in the front pocket :thinkin:
There is one rivet missing, that is why someone put it in the pocket.

I had contacted the seller during the day to say how disappointed I was, she told me that she was discovering this "defect". She explained that she had given the bag to a friend who has a consignment shop and took back the bag when I bought it on the website (Videdressing in France). She apologized and told me she didn't know how it could happen.

She said she will go today to the store where she bought it (Printemps in Paris) and asked for another rivet and repair. She said she will of course pay for the repair. I am waiting for her answer, I really love the bag, I paid 350 euros for it. I think it is a good deal if they can fix it ? The bag is in excellent condition except this problem :hrmm:

Bal is quite stingy about repair. If the seller is the original owner, it's the best to have the seller deal with Bal to fix it. I bet the seller has to send the bag to fix it. Bal just doesn't give the rivet to the seller. I understand you love the bag. But it's really too much to deal with.

There is an amazing place in NJ, Rago Brothers, http://www.ragobrothers.com. that does bag repairs. They have contracts with many of the top designers/stores, and do just terrific work. I took a distressed Balenciaga to them and it came back looking almost new. They're also, I think, very reasonably priced. They'll take shipments and give quotes; the service is stellar. Ask for Tony Rago. He runs this incredible family business that he's so proud of. Good luck.

hey ladies, I'm not sure if this bag can be helped- its totally worn out and at the corners the leather is cracked. Is there a place in Europe that does repairs as I think it will be too much hassle to ship to the States and back? I don't want to use this poor Coffee Balenciaga anymore due to the state she is in. I almost thought of throwing her away.. :/ Please help ;)
