I hear what you're saying. I once had an Ink Day with really thin 06 leather and I was super paranoid about it. I loved the colour as it had more deep purple undertones but I just couldn't handle the leather. So, I sold it to someone who thought that thin leather was fab. There is always a market as we all have different tastes.

my co worker bought a black city from 2007 back in feb and hers has a pretty big rip on it. not the outside but where the zipper is on top. no idea how that happened but it looks kinda bad. i'm sure it's a rarity. she's bringing it back to see what can be done about it.

Hi girlies, well im still searching for my first Bbag! And I have noticed that some of them have been restored, either the handles have been un-darkened and treated etc. What is everyones views on this? Im thinking it doesnt really matter but on the other hand I dont want to buy a Bbag that others will not want after me if i decide to sell ,kwim?
Is it a common thing thats older Bbags have been given some extra attention?

Thanks everyone! xx

As time goes on, bags from the early seasons will obviously continue to age but will still be in the B-bag "circulation." So yes, we'll be seeing more bags with restored handles, dyed leather, etc. Personally, I'd rather have an early year bag in original, mint condition but I know those will be a lot harder to find. So with time, I think I'll become more willing to consider restored bags, especially if I'm really jonesing for a particular older color. Hopefully they will be professionally restored WELL and not done by a hack!

I think people can do whatever they want with their own bags, of course. But you might have to accept that it COULD, with some but not all people, limit your ability to resell the bag or affect its future price. And of course there would be differences between protectants and restoration, etc.

It depends on the type of restoration.. if the handles were lightened professionally, then it would be ok, but if it's been extensively restored/redyed I would pass and try to find another bag. It's worth the time and money for a better condition bag.

i think it depends on how badly you want the color and how much of the bag has been restored and if they did a good job or not.

for example if the only thing they did was have the handles lightened, or if the corners were redone- not horrible. but if the bag was completely redyed- i would skip it and find another one.

ITA - lightening the handles makes the bag look better and not so "aged" but i think completely redying the bag affects the leather, which is what makes b-bags so unique.

i would totally buy a fixed-up b-bag, if it was one of my must have or wanted bags, but i would have to pass on a completely redyed bag. JMHO:smile1:

My metal plate that says "BALENCIAGA" is falling off (the thread is loose on 1 side). Should I sew it myself or would it void the warantee like LV? Do I have to send it for servicing for that little thing?
