hi all. thanks for your posts. i absolutely adore the magenta 05 leather and colour. and if the flattening, matting, and darkening of the colour is part of the aging process, then so be it. i just need to know what to expect with magenta and just live with it. i can just say to myself that the front of this bag has aged before the rest. and if this is not part of its aging process, i want to know how and what can fix it, and what caused it, so i can prevent it from spreading to the rest of the bag.

is it reasonable to expect for magenta 05 to remain the way it does when it first came? is this just part and parcel of having a certain colour range? if that is the case, i need to rethink my b-bag colour collection because although i love acqua and magenta, i am not sure i have enough energy to have to maintain more of such bags. the acqua is Ok thus far by the way. i am just thinking now if i should even bother with violet, yellow and apple green.

by the way, LMB said they have worked on magenta b-bags before and seemed familiar with them. let's see how much they charge and i will make my decision then. the seller has been very kind and offered a complete refund if i choose to return the bag. but i have to make this decision by tomorrow.

fiatflux, your city seems nice to me! i suppose i don't mind the dulling part. it is the darkening of the magenta into something more purple-ish as suppose to the pink-ish undertone that it came in originally that bothers me most. although i like veiny leather, i don't really mind the flatness of it either. yours looked nice and pinky! but i know how hard it is to capture the colours of b-bag on camera! i am guessing in real life they are darker? and has a purple/maroon undertone? and not the kind of pink undertone i can see in your pic?

deana, i thought about returning the box, and am still thinking about it. but the idea of having to hunt down another one really makes me ill..... i so admire you stalking ebay for one! how can you tell what's fake or real?? i am normally good with spotting fakes but come to b-bags i am a bit lost. so, will update you on what i decide.

i emailed some pics to LMB and they seemed to suggest that they can fix it. she said she had some experience with this colour and problem. and since mine is not extensive in its shading/discoloration, she felt she can handle it. i did emphasis that i want MINIMAL interverence. i have asked for a quote but have not heard back from her. she did say that they spend a lot of time on each b-bags even though the areas of concern were often small. should i go ahead and try my luck with them?

I'm just wondering if anyone has actually successfully had a warranty repair done on a Balenciaga bag purchased from Neiman's?

I need to do this, and I just know that the SA is going to be completely clueless about the process...so what can I say to her in order to help facilitate things? How will she know whom to contact at Balenciaga and how to communicate what needs to be fixed, etc?

I'm thinking of writing a detailed letter describing what needs to be done along with pics of the bag with problem areas circled and ask the SA to send that letter along with the bag to Balenciaga.

I think that if the bag is defected and you just bought it, I think you can just exchange it. I have never bought anything fot NM so I am not much help. Good luck.

Well - I actually have two bags. One is a year old and the whipstitching covering came off in several places on on of the handles, plus the handle paint is cracking/chipping. Looks really awful (and it has for a long time; I just hadn't gotten around to trying to get it repaired because I've been dreading trying to communicate this whole thing w/a NM SA whom will probably have absolutely NO IDEA that Balenciaga even does warranty repair). I think the warranty is 2 years, so I hope I can still get it fixed.

The other one is a Vert Gazon GH Day bag that is "brand new" but it has unusual fading on the top part of the bag. I could just return it, but I'd like to see if it could be fixed since the bag is pretty much impossible to find now.

I remember when I had a problem with my HOOK Bag, I was told by NM (I purchased the bag there) that I have to go to the Neiman Marcus who carries Balenciaga since they have the licensing to do repairs and damages of Balenciaga items...other than that it shouldn't be a problem.

Have you tried BAL Ny? I know they also do repairs.

They can always locate another one for you -if there are any left. I hate the idea of buying something brand new and already needing to be fixed.

Good luck and please keep us updated - since I've also purchased Bbags from NM in the past and would like to know details in case I would ever need it repaired.

Well, it's not looking good so far. I called the Neiman's in question today and asked for my SA - let's say her name is "Amy" (not her real name). The SA who answered said Amy was not in and "who knows, your guess is as good as mine" as to when Amy would come in next. So - the implication is that Amy is not super responsible. Then again, I don't really want to deal with the SA on the phone because she is coming across pretty unprofessional ... ugh.

I called Christine at Neiman's in San Francisco. She is "xochrissie" on tPF. I highly recommend calling her if you want a good & knowledgeable SA at Neimans!!

She informed me that Neiman's rarely sends bags back to the manufacturer for repair (maybe a very, very few Chanels, for example). Neiman's has their OWN "Repair Center" and they repair most bags there.

This is not good news to me. I don't really want Neiman's messing with my bbags!!! I certainly don't think they could fix the fading on this VG GH Day.

My understanding is that BAL NY will tell you to take it back to the retailer where you bought it if you want to do repairs IN WARRANTY.

Sorry that you're not having so much luck with the whole repair situation.

When I was at BalNY a girl asked about getting the piping on her Twiggy bag fixed and they said that they can do it (take 2-4 weeks, not sure exactly what the cost would be) and she was never asked if she got it from their store - I'm assuming she didn't since she had to fill out that form that you fill out when you make your first in store purchase.

yes, I had a repair done from NM before. I took it in to an SA at NM and she wrote a detailed description as to what I needed fixed she sent off the bag to BALNY and they charged a fee. Nm then contacted me with the price charged by BALNY to do the repair then the repair was completed. This took about 2 months. In the end the process worked out smoothly:okay: just the time frame though!
