Just wondering if Balenciaga was going to help you out?

One of my Chloes has the 'edgework sealer paint" cracking problem. I am curious to see if this is fixable.

I don't know yet :( The lady at my post office promised me we did everything right and there would be no Duty and Import Tax Fees, but she must have done something wrong because it did! So they just sent it back (of course) and now it's beeing held up by the duty-office in Norway (where I live), so I'm just waiting and hoping that I don't have to pay taxes to get it back!

I have these problems too for my other bal bags such as 04, 03 etc. However, i ever asked from a service shop (services designer leather bags) and he told me he can try to paint on the cracks or the handles of the colors went off.....I haven't really try it as i was too busy and have to bring all my bbags for him to check first and he said have to leave the bags for a day or so to see how it goes.....it could be one of the solution....:)

Does anyone else have the problem of the paint that seals the handles under the whipstitching cracking and flaking off?

On my Black City, the paint cracked and chipped off in a bunch of places on the handles, showing white underneath. I have been carrying my Blue India Part Time a few months, and I'm starting to see the cracking in a couple of spots & don't want it to get worse.

Is there a way to prevent this from happening in the first place ... or at least from worsening?

I actually sent my Cafe day to Kim last week to have this exact thing repaired. The underside of the handle was all chipped off? WTH???

my newly arrived magenta 05 box looked rather maroon like on some parts (especially upper half in front) and the same parts are very "rubbed-off" (not only the shine has gone but it went slightly further and looked like it has been rubbed until it is very matted and the grain became different from the rest of the leather, if that make sense).

do you think this is because it has yellowed in those parts? if so, do you know how to revive the original magenta shade?

the bottom and the back of the bag and also sling strap look like they have the original magenta shade, purplish rather than maroonish, and i want to get all of the bag that way again....

HEEEEELP......

thanks marie. i thought of LMB too... maybe i should email her and see if she has any solution in mind. i am not hopeful though... anybody has any experience with fading or yellowing and managed to solve it...?

Yeah pics would help, i just sold my brand new mint magenta box and here are some pics of what she looked like!

aaww... that's nice.... the bottom, back, and sling strap are that shade of magenta. but not the front upper half, a bit of the top, and the back strap. not sure why only those bits of the bag, but those parts of mine has this maroon-ish undertone, which i suspect to be yellowing... been trying to take a pic of them, but i could not capture it. i can understand how the seller's pic did not show this either...

Is there any way you can take pictures so we can get a better visual of these problem spots?

To me it sounds like the leather has just been worn down from use. I had a BBag that was like that. The previous owner had used it quite a bit and the leather on the backside was different in a spot because of the leather rubbing against clothing. The spot was pretty large and slightly darker than the rest of the bag. I ended up conditioning the bag with LMB products and the problem spot seemed to become more blended in and not as noticeable. The leather texture was always different though. It look like it had been rubbed smooth.

It might also just be darkening of the bag from oils and dirt? Like how the handles darken. I’ve seen some darkened handles on Magenta bags look maroonish. I don’t think darker colored bags can yellow; always thought it was just the paler colors but who knows.

Definitely email LMB and see if they have any suggestions. Good luck!

thanks guys. just emailed LMB and crossing my fingers. i definitely love this bag from the back! love the thick leather (how can i "go back" to newer leather after this??) and the original magenta! i know what you mean by rubbed from extensive wear. and in some parts it definitely look that way. the front of the bag is really the part where the leather variety is most extensive. with some shinny parts looking like they have been varnished or coated w/ film of shine over them, and the next patch looking totally matted and worn. but the colour shading is formed in a straight line which suggest more shading rather than rubbing to me, it looks like a tan line.... i hope i am making sense. 1 am here now. will try to capture this on camera before the week ends.

my hypothesis right now is that this may be sun exposure due to improper storage. since i saw somewhere in this forum, a new b-bag which was carried on some summer holiday and came back aged beyond comprehension. seller told me she only carried it about 10 times and had bought it from another who claimed that it was new. so can't be from wear. and that tan line look about the shading too.

do all magenta 05 have that varnish shinny look when they were new?

Yeah I had Magenta first it was in mint condition (regret selling her so bad) and was really shinny and soft, so I think that's how they are when they are new. I really think you're best option is LMB, hmmm I wonder if it is from the sun, could it be a stain. I'm sure it can be fixed but it will cost. did you pay much for it?
