awww. thanks very much. I will see how it goes with its look over time since I've always wanted an old caramel b bag.

great that you are giving it some time... the best part about B-bags are that , unlike cookie cutter Prada/Gucci/LV, each is unique is its texture, leather grain, colour tone, distressing and thus, each is beautiful is itself.. this is why I guess you are able to accept the darkened handles in the first place! so, you will always find a good home for your luscious caramel ... though I guess all the envy here is making you want her more ?? kekeke:roflmfao:

i know your frustration. i had one of my bags go into a place like that to be cleaned - there was a stain on the back from rubbing against my dark jeans - and they cleaned and redyed the entire bag! i was really caught off guard when i went to pick up the bag... i was pissed off because the texture of the leather was very different and kind of shiny, but then at the same time i was amazed that the bag looked so clean and 'new'. it's taken me some time to get used to it, but even now it takes a backseat to my other bags - i take it out in the rain or whenever i need something casual to throw around. annoying, considering its cost. i don't bother selling because i know i would take such a huge loss from the dye job, i may as well keep it around as my 'beater' bag :(

Wow wow wow wow. Or as Borat would say: wow wow wee wah.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. Its seem unanimous that the restoration 'mistake' was worth it! Okay I'm DEFINITELY going to stick with it now and see how it goes. Thanks everyone for the input. For those in NYC who liked the results, you now have a restoration alternative to go to for your bags should you not want the LMB route...The place is called Angelo's in the subway station of 53rd and 5th.

I'm weighing in late. Just saw this thread. I am NOT anywhere near as informed as most of the gals here...I'm BRAND new to Balenciaga. But I have to tell you, I LOVE the "new" colour. It's absolutely stunning. I can completely understand your horror at the dye job, but, standing back from the heart-stopping surpirse you had, it is GORGEOUS. If the feel and slouch is the same, I'd say it's a big win. However, I know for BBag purists, it could be a tough sell. I really hope you "bond" with this gorgoeus restoration, because it's a traffic stopper! HONESTLY. If you decide you absolutely can't do it, put me on the list after the others who have spoken up! Really. But I do hope you two find a way to get along....she's a beaut. Good luck!

I'm also coming to this one late...that is one beautiful bag! One of the things I like about it is it looks new, but there's no other color this season like it.

I do think it will re-break in. As long as you can get beyond knowing it wasn't initially what you hoped for, this might be a real keeper.

But, honestly, who hasn't had that experience when we pick a color based on those postage-stamp size swatches and then see the color IRL? For months we were dreaming about a color and had our own fabulous version of it. Then we go look at our pre-ordered bag and think "Oh, no! That's not what I was expecting!"

And yet, we decide to try the color anyway and still end up loving it!

I'm even later, lol!
I think it looks great and the handles look amazing. Honestly, I would be fit to be tied if they did that to me too but I think it worked out for the best.
Did you find out how they fixed the handles? Did they do extraction or redye them?

I think they did a bit of both, clean and dyeing. I am pleased with how they came out. They are still darker than the rest of the bag but not black like before.

me too, I can't see any of the pics! And I'm so curious, the bag must look really great since everyone is saying so! Have they been edited out? Please please post them again for us to see!
