Dear Ladies,
Please forgive me if this post is in the wrong thread, if so, please direct me to the correct one.
I was wondering what to do with vintage scarves with trashed hems. Is it possible to repair hems or other issues like holes. I have several very old scarves with issues like this (Jahna, I'm thinking amongst others about the life preserver one). The silk on these are thin but as I know some are really old and very rare it would be nice to get them repaired.

Anyone?

TIA!

Brage, I suppose the Mods will delete this if we're in the wrong thread. Hermes does re-hemming. You need to send/take to your boutique and they will send it to Lyon (or wherever) to be done. It is expensive and takes a long time (several months). In the U.S. some use Tie-Crafters in NYC. I have used my people at Hallak (also in NYC). I'm unaware of hole repair. Good luck.

Never faked. Original had rajahs in the corners - they were removed & replaced in later issues & the scarf was renamed

The rajahspictures were real people - they actually existed - so maybe they were pictued w/o permission & that was why scarf was redone

Thanks for this (the only thing turned up in databases and a Google search to comment on the corner pics); I have one with the Maharajas in the corners, and have not found a picture to confirm... so this is the original issue? Does anyone know the date?

Thanks in advance, Jahna

I just found a reference from fleursetcarlnes listing this as 1996/97... with the no-face reissue as 2000/2001.

I will be grateful for any additional info, thanks.

I don't know to what this refers! But I bow to whatever marietouchet has said as much of what I know I learned from her!!!

Anyone have opinions about the correct name for "Soiree de Gala" versus "Soiree a l'Opera" for the scarf by Jean-Louis Clerc? Maybe different vintages? There seem to be mixed messages on resource sites...

Thanks!

Is there a way of telling the difference? I think mine is an older version. I am just trying to get all the right info attached to the scarf I have. I'll post a pic later, as well as more of the "transportation" scarf as promised. Thanks for the one you posted as well.

I have spent the last two weeks organizing my "shopping frenzy" purchases this year LOL.

Hi everyone,
I am sorry if this is the wrong thread, I am a newbie. I just recently "accidentally" won in a bidding on ebay, I would like to know if this scarf is authentic before I pay for it. I hope this few pictures on the listing are enough :/

P/S : please direct me if I am not on the right thread

Thank you soooo much !!! :)

This pochette is authentic, a special issue promotional item.

Details like copyright symbol, caretag and coloration make it pretty easy.

Thanks sdsurfchick; I'll go see what I can find on my own before I cry HELP!!! LOL! I looked at the usual sites for ref.; maybe what I need to do is find the re-issues and work backwards...

Good exercise.
