Thank you Ladies, yes I have the France scarf,I bought it some time ago on French ebay. Then they called it Paquebots de France or something like that. i see now that it is actually in the HSCI catalogue, but I still wonder re. christiane Vauzelles as the designer. I don't Think it fit in, well, well...

No Jahna I did not find out more of the life presercing scarf, I guess I'll take Sdsurfchicks advice and send Hermes an email and Ask.

Well, she is all over the map with designs apparently, and here is where I found my info (they need a picture):

sdsurfchick, I will admit that I had a moment of utter disbelief when you said Vue du carosse. Flat, it's - I'm so sorry, Hermes! - one spectacularly ugly scarf. And then I googled how it ties. And then I looked up the colorways. OMG, straight to my secret wishlist. By this time tonight, I have even found the movie and saw the gorg Diane's scarf - is it cream/white/gold? Thank you for the new grail :)

Also, Tuiga is :heart::heart::heart:

Jahna, what an amazing stash! I'm very curious to know what cw's of Henry Smith and Marché flottant you have? Thank you so much, I will be researching all of these. I also remember now that Per Astra Ad Astra is a recent nautical.

Eeeeee, Jahna, how I love your color choices. Marché was my first ever Hermes and then I'm so drawn to the whimsy of the naïve art and the large brush strokes in Henri F. Smith.

sdsurfchick, you've made to the dot com! SO FREAKING COOL. If I were you, I would so print out and frame it :woohoo: And the rose/gris colorway of VdC is the one that I thought could work best for me as well, thank you for modeling it. I'm on the extra vigilant lookout now. Thank you for all the database links as well :smile1:

The owner of the HSCI Catalogue is shifting over to a new site. I'm not sure if she has completed the process.

Also, here is her database:

sdsurfchick, thanks so much for this! I have loved both sites, and the fact that the second you can click on the columns-fantastic!

BTW, I see she has no artist for "L'Art d'Ecrire"; I have that scarf and have as the artist Maurice Trenchant?

Also, I have "Mail Coach" and have the artist as Hugo Grygkar; can you confirm?

Textilegirl, I can put you in my will; please send all relevant bank info, credit card numbers etc. so I can be sure those scarves go to you! :roflmfao:

Yes, you are right about those designers.

Thanks sdsurfchick. I will stick with those.

One more thought about the life preserver: Lots of the early Philippe LeDoux scarves have that same kind of layout... Is it Ledoux or LeDoux?

First of all I would like to thank all the TPF members! You guys are the best and I am learning soooooo much on this forum. :hugs:

I still need to learn a lot about scarfs so I have two small questions:

1. Is it possible for Hermes to do the stitching with a thread that is different colour from the carré itself (or should I better say hem/rim). Because yesterday I spotted a "Farandole" in white and blue and it was stitched with a green thread

2. Does anybody know the story behind "Monarch" by Xavier de Poret? My first guess is that it's his dog (called Monarch, hehe) :D
