I would assume you are right that "Monarch" was his dog. And I am "almost" sure they would never hem a scarf in a third color (from the scarf or the edge) -sure the experts will weigh in on this... but my quick search turned up this beautiful site (have the patience to scroll down!)

Dear Jahna,

Thank you very much for your reply!
The horses on that website are amazing (Aaaww, Utah is cute) *drool* Reminds me of my old horse-riding days :amuse: Thank you so much for the link (and also the link to the Musee Vivant du Cheval!)

I caution, Miskin, wait for the experts!! Query sdsurfchick or fleuretcarlines (pm them) about this one. I know lots, but it is a drop in the bucket compared to them!!LOL

Re: horses... I grew up in Wyoming and riding was my main activity...

First of all I would like to thank all the TPF members! You guys are the best and I am learning soooooo much on this forum. :hugs:

I still need to learn a lot about scarfs so I have two small questions:

1. Is it possible for Hermes to do the stitching with a thread that is different colour from the carré itself (or should I better say hem/rim). Because yesterday I spotted a "Farandole" in white and blue and it was stitched with a green thread

2. Does anybody know the story behind "Monarch" by Xavier de Poret? My first guess is that it's his dog (called Monarch, hehe) :D
Mishkin, I don't know about Monarch. Sorry. The thread should match exactly the silk that is rolled into the hem, including on contrasting hems.

Thank you so much for your time and expertise, sdsurfchick! I can't thank you enough :blushing:
