This thread is for discussion on authenticity of Hermes scarves and Ready-To-Wear.

Please follow the following rules:

  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated. This is not a thread to ask general questions about Hermes, please refer to our reference section for such information. Finally, do not submit requests for something that is obviously a fake, e.g. the item says it is a replica, or a $200 Birkin.
  • This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:

Comments:
  • Authenticators are not required to answer every request, and it is their right to ignore a request that is not in the proper format.
  • Authenticators may also request additional pictures and/or information in order to assist with authentication. Please remember, it is always useful to have several close up pictures when submitting an item for authentication.
  • For scarves, please provide pictures of the hem, tag if possible, copyright, and close up to show the weave. Hermes stamp on every item.
  • Please do not intervene to confront a troll or rudeness on the boards, just use the REPORT function ( button) to alert the mods, and let them handle it from there. In the meantime, just ignore the poster until a mod can intervene.
  • Always be respectful when you post and treat others as you expect to be treated. This is an open thread and everyone is welcome to participate.
  • Do NOT PM an authenticator or moderator to request authentication. Any and all such requests must be posted in this thread.

DBF bought me a scarf from that seller that got the thumbs-up from the authenticators, IIRC.

^^Never mind. It's over. I'm sorry, I feel that the division of H auth. has only worked against the spirit in which it was intended. In the united forum, this probably wouldn't have happened. Mods, feel free to delete, I fully expect it.

why to you thing that, b? because it seems to me this is going to make it much more efficient. if i had been checking in during the two hours between when you posted and when the auction ended i would have looked at all the threads - and i'm sure any authenticator comfortable with scarves who popped in during that time would have found and replied to your request.

B, I saw your post asking for authentication. I didn't respond because I feel I am not qualified enough to make any calls on scarves even though I own several. But that's as far as the domain of scarves for me goes.

I agree with DQ that the separation of product types help in getting us eyeball what we can do.

Sorry that you missed on the listing. But I think in a short time to come, the scarfies will realise that this authentication thread is dedicated to just scarves and all those interested in scarves, will get the enormous pool of ladies in the know to assist. JMHO.

Hello Ladies, could you authenticate this étole 'shawl' in mousseline ?
I know you favor this seller but I would like an opinion resting on the item alone...

item : Brides de gala, shawl (étole actually) in red/orange mousseline
list nbr : 160309612522
seller : jb 8506
link : http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=160309612522
comment : I am not familiar with this caretag, very different from one of my étole.
I have seen this pattern & cw in 70 cm scarf but this tag puzzles me... I dont know either the price asked in the H boutique, any idea ?

BTW, I am all for this separation of threads, SO much easier than to wade between the B's and K's and much clearer for the scarf specialists I hope.

Thank you so much and a very happy New Year to all our dear authenticators

Hi Brennamom,
I don't know why I am even here (I think I clicked on this by mistake so it was a fluke) and I stumbled across this...
If it is any consolation, while I have no shortage of scarves, I have no confidence when it comes to authenticating scarves, so, even if the scarves were still with the bags, I'd still blow right by them....
I think once everyone gets used to the new division, it will be better for everyone!

looks good to me, c - that's the same style tag as on the toile d'hermes stole i had until a week or two ago. the stoles are priced roughly the same as the GM mousselines, and i believe they're about $680 now.

Thank you Pepper. I believe there are no accidents, so something led you here and for that I am thankful! You all have been so kind, so let me say, OT, that my first scarf IS authentic, as it came straight from SCP. I got the last Carre en Carre in rasberry. Go Big or Go Home, no? I hope to do a reveal soon...Off to study MaiTai's Magic Scarf thread
