I am new to the forum. I have read through the entire thread. Is this the only thread on this forum that discusses scarves?

I have been purchasing H scarves for over 20 years without realising one day that I've become a collector! Now I'm focusing on collecting rather than just purchasing to wear.

I have so many questions. I hope you all can help me. I apologise in advance if this is a really long post.

-- is there a listing/ catalogue of all H scarves available online? If not, where can one see a listing to date, authenticate, etc.? I want to catalogue my own collection.

-- I am especially attracted to scarves designed by Henri de Linares. Can anyone tell me something about him? Is there a list of all the scarves he has designed? Can anyone identify the name and year of this particular scarf? I own one in a red/ brick border/ colourway.

-- what is a "sale scarf"? Does Hermes have sales on scarves and if so, when? How do you learn about them?

-- I have been learning a lot about H scarves through eBay. I don't understand some of the terms. When a seller is describing their scarf, it seems to be important to mention that it has never been worn, or has original folds or is in the original box, etc. I have a question for collectors. Do you wear your scarves or do you just collect them?

-- someone mentioned collectors forums. How do you join an online group other than this one? Is anyone willing to share the web link(s)?

-- I am interested in owning a Ludovicus Magnus, Napoleon, Pavois and Grand Apparat. Can anyone tell me something about these scarves? The years or resissue and in what colourways? I've seen a number of them come up on eBay but before I settle on any one colour combination I'd love to know what the range is out there. Also, have these ever been counterfeited?

-- I saw the discussion of Grand Fonds being counterfeited. Any others? Is there any list/ website anywhere that keeps track of all the fakes? It seems there are sooo many Les Clefs and Brides de Gala.

-- why do some scarves come with a jacquard fabric and others do not? Does the jacquard fabric indicate that it is an older scarf? To me, the jacquard is so beautiful and in my mind it would add to its value. Is this generally true? Are scarves with jacquard fabric more valuable/ desirable than those that are not?

Thanks in advance if anyone can help me with some answers. (I've got a lot more questions but this is a start!)

^^:D Wow!

Cadreamin, the ladies here can definitely help you with your inquiries (and boy! you do have inquiries:yes: ).

I wish there was more of a Hermes Scarves thread, but I think this in the only one. Though I like the bags, I love the scarves.

Hopefully someone will be able to answer some of your questions.

1. There are 2 yahoo scarf groups that extend membership through invitation. They have an extensive list of scarves produced, artist, and year.

2. This is Gibiers by Linares, 1966.

3. Hermes does have scarves for sale during their biannual sale. Stick around here and you'll pick up the dates.

4. For some collectors condition of the scarf is very important. So some sellers will list that the scarf is new, in box, with the original creases, etc.

5. PM me your email address and I'll request an invitation.

I'm in a bit of a rush, so if no one comes to answer the rest of your questions, I'll be back to answer them later tonight. There are few scarfies on board that are extrememly knowledgeable, hopefully one will come by to help you along. My apologies, but I must be out the door.

CobaltBlu,

Caleche is a classic motif and you will occasionally find them as a border, central theme etc. The latest one I can think of is 'Jeux d'Ombres' by Loic Dubigeon 2004 which was also issued as a 55" cashmere/silk scarf. Maybe some stores still have them on their shelves, no harm asking, or ask your SA to see if she can check the inventory ... some suggestions.

luxury-scarves.com

hope that helps.

^"De Passage a Tokyo" is for the Spring/Summer '07 collection and will be available worldwide. It's new, wait a couple of weeks, everything should start coming in around end Jan/beg Feb. If you have difficulty obtaining one by middle Feb, just drop me a note and I'll help you get one.

does anyone know what this one will look like? thanks

Thank you everyone, thank you AirMEss.....

I have looked at many many scarves with the caleche or attelage motif, al the parades and promenades and so forth, and this particular carriage with 4 hourses, I have not found yet.

I thought/hoped, it was like some of the other bracelets that were derived from the scarf (Vie du Grand Nord, for example, and many others), and match up exactly, but as yet, I have not been able to match this carriage.

I have looked as SO MANY beautiful scarves, what a treat!!!

In addition to Luxury Scarves, there are hundreds of scarves pictured at
Scarves

this is not a sale site, it is for reference only, and I could not get the search part to work, but if you want to see them in alphabetic order, there are hundreds pictured to drool over.

CAdreamin, you can see other colours of that beautiful Linares scarf there.
It also has information on fakes of particular scarves, and how to spot them in general. I am sure you will be able to get a great start on your catalogue, there is also info on re-issue, and interesting information about where the copyright moves around on some re-issues, etc. HAVE FUN!!

House of Scarves
also has a database of many scarves that you can sort by artist, designer, or theme.

Enjoy!!

I hit the jackpot yesterday while looking for my little attelage!

This website has extensive photos of authentic scarves, as well as a list of fakes by collection for 2003-2006, Fakes of Classic Scarves, and a complete list of fakes. I am not affiliated with this, nor am I an expert on H, but this website owner certainly has taken the time to put together an exhaustive resource for H scarves.

There are photos as well.

CobaltBlu, many thanks for sharing your research with us :flowers: used to look at www.xumbador.com but their server was down since last week and haven't had any luck since. Hope you find what you're looking for. Btw, you can send an email on the Hermes website where it says 'contact us' and ask them about it. They should really be the best resource for you and would be able to tell you everything you need to know.

Good Luck!
