Where do I get my knowledge ?
1 . Years of interest since I was little when mothers came to pick class mates while wearing scarves
2. Vast library , mostly difficult to find / rare books, mostly in French but some in Japanese ! , Italian , ex I have old books on hunting and they cover many of the hunting scarves or books on the Lyon silk industry that also touch on the subject
3 Lots of hard work going through old french magazines , lots of old copies of scarf booklets and Le Monde d Hermes , each magazine has very little but if you read enough of them .... there are 80 years of scarves and I have 80 years of magazine articles
4 I collect photos from the internet and am rather meticulous about recording when and where info came from , I put metadata on all the photos so they can be searched
5 I organize what I have and I am good at that , plus I speak several languages
Basically, I got the information the hard way, by research , you won't find the information already put together for you . Hermes chooses not to publish it and now intellectual property laws make it impossible to put the info out on a public forum , ex photocopies of book pages for my own private use is ok but not for general dissemination

Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and information and I really admire your way of working

Yes, thank you very much marietouchet. Your wealth of knowledge and your willingness to help others is very much appreciated. It is such a shame that you are not allowed write a scarves for scarfies book! It would be incredible. [emoji4]
No one has told me not to write a book but I just cannot get my mind around all the legal hoo-haa to obtain permission , scarves should be about fun not lawyers
But I definitely take care not to use anyone else's intellectual property - too much heartburn
But also, there is a mystique about Hermes, recalls the children's story of the Emperor's New Clothes, one does not want to be the little boy in the story, after all, there is nothing wrong about mystique,

Dear all,

Sorry to bother you, I wonder if any of you recognize this logo on the "Perspective" scarf. It's a special edition and judging by the copyright came out approximately in 60s - 80s. Really wanted to find out the name of the company. Thank you in advance!

I recently purchased this scarf, which I love the beautiful colors but I can't find that this particular colorway is real. I know the name is "Sacarabees et Pectoraux" but is often referred to as Egypte/Egypt. The artist is Caty, her name is on the scarf and it is from the 70's but reissued after that.
First of all, I wanted to know if this is a real version of this scarf because I can't find pictures online of it anywhere except from the one I bought. Was there a colorway that really looked like this or did I get tricked? It has all the markings of an authentic scarf, hand rolled edges with matching thread, artist name, the Hermes-Paris is correct and the Hermes with the copyright sign is there. It doesn't have a title on it, but I read that this scarf doesn't have the title on it.
I also wanted to know what year it came out? Was it from the 70's or a reissue?
Does anyone know anything about this scarf? I can post more pictures if needed.

Authenticity is covered in he authentication thread, not here, but we only authenticate scarves for sale - not pre owned - otherwise I would be up to my eyeballs authenticating the contents of everyone's closet LOL
That said, there are many scarf cws not found on the internet

I'm not so worried it's not authentic because I've compared it to my other scarves and everything seems on point. I guess I was more interested in whether this was from the original release which I read was originally in the 70's or if it was part of the later reissues? And I was really shocked that I couldn't find pictures of it on the internet but if a lot don't have pictures that makes more sense because it's older. I'll be the first to post I guess.

As for not finding everything on the Internet I'm pretty sure there are a huge number of H scarves/CWs which are not traceable there. I recently acquired a Grottes des Lascaux from 1954 in a CW that I hadn't previously seen. I am sure it is authentic, but assume scarves that old weren't produced in large numbers and/or documented in a way easily accessible on the net today. Enjoy your scarf
