Should have added
Customer satisfaction with a CS treatment varies a lot with design style.
With a busy design, runs & pills are hard to see before & after treatment
With a design with large expanses of solid color, pills & runs are more noticeable.
A treatment will do the same magic in either case, but customer satisfaction can vary

Good afternoon everyone! I have a question (really 2)…
I just purchased Aloha dip dyed, Ref # H112026S 05

What does the Reference number mean - what can you learn from it?
And what year is this scarf from?
I found it on the Hermes site (which is where I found the number) but it doesn't tell me the artist, though I know it's L Bourthoumieux because that info is on the purple scarf that comes up first on the search, or what year it's from.

I feel so foolish about these scarves, there is so much I don't know.

Part 1 of question - you cannot determine artist and date from ref nbr
Some people will remember that 002209S04 was from 2012AW but they did not get that explicitly from the nbr.

Part 2 what does ref nbr tell you ? It is a SKU number, there are 3 parts
11 = prefix , tells you format eg 11 is a 90cm dip dye
2026 = design , in this case aloha
05 = cw number in this case purple
BUT ...
The prefixes are reused ... eg a 56 may be a 70cm taffeta this year and a 100cm jacquard two years later
The prefixes do not tell you the fabric unambiguously - 24 is for a CS scarf, but at least 3 types of CS have been used in the last dozen years, all of which had a prefix of 24
Colorway numbers are assigned randomly eg 03 may be black for one design and lilac for another
Design numbers are problematic too. A lot of new variants (à pois, cut, chevron, remix, (maxi) twilly version etc.) of designs are assigned new design numbers, so if you look for all scarves with a design number of 2026 will you find all the alohas? Probably not,
There are no published lists of prefixes, design numbers or cw numbers
You can compile your own list by perusing the Hermes site, sometimes members here have lists of the cws for a given season of a design
Good hunting !

Thank you MT! I appreciate your time!
It sounds as though I might need to apply my patented SWAG (silly wild a$$ guess) moves on this.

Ok, strange trivia question.... I just purchased a Cheval Phoenix from a reputable reseller that still had the original tag. It's a colorway that I had never seen before and don't think was ever shown on their website so I went into sleuth mode. I pulled up the 8 colorways that are still shown on the all-en H site. It lists CWs 2 through 7 and then CWs 9 & 10. The one that I purchased is CW1 (which makes sense). Of course, that means that CW8 is still a mystery. Is it typical for H to not show certain colorways?

Yes.

It's my understanding FlaTiger (and I truly am no expert) that sometimes the intended cw doesn't turn out as expected (dye issues, screen issues, whatever) and they just skip the number. Of course this answer may be in the same category as 'the numbers on the scarf tags indicate the roulotesse (sp?)'. Like I said, I know nothing. ;)

I am trying to find out more about my new scarf: Les Secrets de Minos. Does anyone know anything about it or have the design story? Obviously, I know that it is based on the Minoan Frescos at Knossos, but I would be grateful for any more details. Many thanks.

I think also, in addition to not all CW's end up being produced, is that not all CW's that are produced make it online, and I think the all-en site only has the CW's stored that were actually available online so it's possible you could pick up a CW in a boutique that was never online.

This is particularly true for mousselines.
