I meant my scarves are 90 cm, not that I have 90 of them. Just to be clear that I speak only of my 90 cm ;)

Indian Dust was ink jet printed - not screen printed - so a finer mist of color that does not soak through to the other side as for screen printing

Honestly yes on some of my authentic vintage ones I have noticed that. The process has changed over the years but even my Indian Dust scarf from 2008 was much more vivid on one side than the other.

I am curious to hear the answer to this, I recently picked up a vintage scarf and it is not as bright on the flip side as my newer 90s. Sorry I can't help...ETA or maybe that does? It was from the Finds thread so I am almost positive it is authentic, seller has all authentic ratings :smile1: I can take pics to compare if you would like, the difference is subtle but noticeable, this scarf is also lighter in color than my others. :roflmfao: I am afraid I just made it more confusing again...hopefully someone with authority will chime in.

Thank you ladies. This is making me feel better as I thought that all scarves were screen printed. Does anyone know if Lumieres do Paris was ink jet printed?

Haha Melora, I prefer the alternative interpretation! Assuming 6 complete years between 1999-2005 then it would be a manageable (!) 1.25 scarves per month to amass 90 of them... When I say manageable, one could be understandably be tempted by more than 1.25 per month even if the budget might not allow :-)

I would have loved to buy 90 scarves between 1999 and 2005!!
Although I feel lucky to be able to have an orange box every year, even if it's not always new, and sometimes smaller than a 90 :)

On the subject of ink jet printing... Pierre Alexis states that Hermes uses it

http://www.cleveland.com/style/index.ssf/2013/10/herms_artistic_director_pierre.html

Dumas states that some of the designs eg the Albers ones were done via IJP

Digital engraving is a fancy term for saying that the screens were produced by computer not by hand

Of course, if you go to the Festival des Metiers all you see is screen printing and a person hand crafting the screens, which might incorrectly lead you go believe that all Hermes scarves are screened, with hand made screens.

I'm wondering if anyone has any pix of the very colorful versions of "A la Gloire de Guillaume" in action. I'd really like to see how it ties. Please excuse if this is the wrong forum - I'll also post over is SOTD. Thanks!

I have just become the proud owner of Luna Park, and wondered if anyone can tell me about the carousel featured on the scarf. There was a "Luna Park" amusement park in Coney Island, in Brooklyn, New York (though it had closed years before this scarf was issued). My mother remembers riding a carousel there when she was a girl.

I found this image of the B&B Carousel... might this be the carousel which inspired Joachim Metz?

This one. It's the seller's photo, from eBay, but I suppose it's okay to use it, since I bought the scarf.
What doesn't really show up in the photo is that the border is a VERY bright sapphire blue. It really makes the "fireworks" jacquard stand out.
Ignore the stain in the lower left corner. It came out easily with just one washing.:smile1:

This is lovely Elaine, it will great on you. And the carousel certainly seems to at the least inspire the design - maybe rebuilt from the original?

Hi, I am looking for "Musique Des Dieux" (by Claudia Stuhlhofer M) in the resale market/xbay and what I have come across so far are the charcoal and black color ways which are not MY color. Can anyone please tell me if there are any in light color ways. What I understand so far is there was no reissue .. Any input will be greatly appreciated. :smile1:

Musique des Dieux was done in unusual cws ... Lots of super dark ones also a peach/mint/lt blue, violet/periwinkle, red/wht/blue, org/grn , ylw/red

IMHO many of the cws were at odds with the Grecian motifs - to me the patriotic red/wht/blue cw did not work at all, nor did the primary color ones

Originally i did not like the darker cws but over the years thought they went best with the theme , rather like Grecian black figure pottery

I have the red enamel, I guess it matches a scarf.

Thank you, Marietouchet - I treasure your opinion and agree with your observations that the darker colors still stand out above and beyond.

Melora24 - its a great piece on you. Thank you for sharing:smile1:
