General question: A scarf has been posted on the "Authentication" thread with two scarves folded and sewn together to make a long scarf.

I have "L'Hiver" and "Salzburg" done this way. Does anyone know if this is just a random thing Hermès does? Or...a year(s)? TIA, Jahna

Well it's a "grail" scarf for me (always loved the fun in it-should have bought it years ago). I finally did get one and keep it in my collection (as far as wearing it-unless you are going to a convention of Hermès addicts no one will be in awe over it LOL!). It is not a vey wearable scarf.

poupishop is suddenly selling a lot of scarves like this, but I am getting a bit leary over the "private" part of the auctions...wondering if these are getting bid up by friends.

That said, this scarf rarely comes to market, and poupishop (and its cousin houba9000) do have (as far as I know) totally authentic scarves. It just depends on how much you want it...

"Les Joies de la Montagne" is charming. If I owned it in a colorway that flattered me, I'd wear it often.

BTW, I live in a rural Kansas town of 8000 people. No one here is in awe of my scarves; they don't even know what they are. And that's fine with me, since that's not why I wear them. :smile1:

Hi Kate!

BTW, I come from Wyoming (speaking of rural). I have always loved that scarf, but it will probably go for a high number as it is sought after by collectors. I "collect" but I do WEAR my "orphans" (ones I have had since my thrift shop college days-with stains and holes). Increasingly I wear scarves to hide my neck LOL...ah, to be 20-something again!

Best, Jahna

Thank you for your input! H scarves always amazes me and I wish I had the means to collect them way earlier! ;)

This is a Reference thread all about Hermes Scarves!!!

This is the place to post pics, discuss information about cleaning, maintenance, designs, where to buy, authentic sellers, how to tie guide. It's all about scarves!

To keep this thread streamlined and easy to use, please keep chatter and comments to a minimum (ie. Oh, I love that, etc.). The less chatter, the easier it will be for you to find the information you need.

Enjoy ladies:flowers:
Can someone tell me about the design and the quotation of Joachim Metz's "Europe" (1993)? Thank you!

Dear tpfers,

I'm wondering if anyone have knowledge about this scarf,
Les Joies de la Montagne (The joy of the mountain (?)) by Jean-Louis Clerc.

I saw it posted on poupishop for an unsual price, over 1.5K
http://www.poupishop.com/newarrivals/page2.html

With the $$$ price, I'm wondering, besides it being a very old scarf design (and seems to never been reissued), is there any other significance to it?

It is the same scarf (note the pictures are the same). Since there is a reserve on the Ebay listing, it does not have to be sold under that reserve. (houba9000 is also poupishop). My guess is that the reserve may be the $1650 and it is only listed just in case someone bids higher. Or maybe the reserve is a little lower, and someone will get a deal. I am SURE it will go over $1000! ...or maybe someone will snap it up from the shop.

I should add that unless you are obsessed with this scarf (it is a "grail") your money is probably spent on other more affordable scarves. Take care of them (do have them cleaned by a certifiable Hermès cleaner) and DO NOT iron out the "Lyons" folds, or the "plump" hem, or take off the caretag. ...and don't drop it in your clam chowder like I did one today LOL :-(

Does anyone know which year was the most recent year that Hermes issued a jacquard 90cm silk twill? It's so gorgeous and luxurious that it hurts my heart to know that it won't be here again for a while.
Also, luxuryscarves.com shows that La Comedie Italienne was re-issued in 1993. Anybody knows which colorways were reissues?

Does anyone know the story of this cute gavroche? My guess it was a promotional scarf to go with Un Jardin Sur Le Toit perfume last year. Am I right?
Thank you in advance!

i dont really keep track of the jacquards but the Neige d'Antan detail zoom scarf from 2001 is probably the last new jacquard design introduced. The reissue of Fetes Veniettienians from 2003 might be the last time I saw a jacquard scarf in the stores.

As for the last reissue of LCI, there were a bronze border, a navy border, a red border, a black border, and green background ones. That's all i remember

Thanks Seton. Mine is the one with olive border and white background so I'm curious which issue it belongs to.
P/S: your scarf blog is very informative and it's a great pleasure to read :smile1:. Thanks again.

I think the olive one is the one that I am referring to as "bronze". it was sorta olive/kaki/bronze-ish with a blinding white background. I used to own that colorway about 10 yrs ago. Anyway, IIRC, the (C)HERMES was somewhere on the left side and it was the last issue.
Also, luxuryscarves doesnt list all the yrs of reissue. I believe that it was reissued at least once in the late 70s or early 80s.

Thanks for your compliments on my blog:smile1:
