Yesterday i saw in Hannover Germany a New man scarf, 140 cm, dip dye Which was crumpled in gray. Does someone can me give a link to a picture in this Forum Brause i dont know the Name.

I just got this at a thrift shop. I'm pretty sure its a fake. Maybe not?

No tag, hem looks to be machine sewn, the back is not vivid, hemmed not right to the corners edge.

Thanks so much!

You've already half-convinced yourself that it's a fake and indeed so it is!
Tell tale signs are:-
machine hemming ( and poor machine hemming at that)
inartistic placing of 'Hermes Paris'
no grave accent on the second e in Hermes

Tags can be snipped off - some ladies don't like them but it is considered 'bon ton' ( and far better for authentication attempts) to keep them.

Besides that the design is pretty awful and the state of the creasing leads me to suspect it might be polyester.

Bright colours good for the dressing up box though!

This is regarding posts #1601-03 about the Philippe Dauchez "Toulon Barcarolle" scarf. I know this thread is a couple of months old, but I just now found it.

Did I understand correctly that one just sold for over £500?? The eBay link is no longer valid, as the auction was too long ago. I have never seen another one, neither in person nor online.

I have this scarf. In fact, the photo shown here is obviously my photo of my scarf, lifted from my Flickr account (without my permission and without giving credit).

This is one of the carrés I wear the most, and in fact I'm wearing it tonight to a dinner party.

If anyone knows the date of the royal border colorway, I'd be most interested. MTIA.

Hi, the link is to the HSCI Photo Catalogue, of which I own - I only use photos with permission of the photo owner and/or published on the HSCI photo gallery. That has been my practice since the beginning. It's an older image from the earlier days of the catalogue - donated by someone, but I have removed it. I don't have access to anyone's Flickr account - are you the original owner? Any chance the photo might belong to the previous owner? Regardless, the photo is gone from the catalogue, as I have been religious in seeking permission for use. I think it's worth noting that this is the first complaint I've heard about regarding unauthorized use, so I take it very seriously.

This is my last remaining "must have" design. Lucky you.

Denise, thank you for your prompt reply.

I can assure you that it is most definitely my photo, taken by me with my camera. Several years ago I began photographing my scarves. I uploaded a few of them to Flickr, and not long after that my photos began popping up on various other websites (which is hysterical because they're not very good photos).

Since that scarf is, apparently, very rare, you are welcome to use the photo of it, or I can supply you with a better quality photo.

It's helpful to collectors and fashion historians to have access to images of the older, less common designs. Your website is great. Keep up the good work!

Do you know when it was issued? Or what colorways it came in? It's one of my faves, and I would love to know more about it.

BTW, as I recall, I didn't pay very much for it, though I don't recall the exact amount. I bought it years ago, before 2000 when I started to keep a database of my scarves.

KansasKate, I would love to include a high-resolution photo - with your permission, of course! Upgrades to the HSCI Photo Catalogue now include high res images, which will allow members to zoom in to see details. Older images are degraded due to space limitations, so I have some work to do. If, somehow a photo was submitted to me from someone who did not own rights to it, I apologize for the inadvertent error - I've made every effort to ensure photos are authorized by owners for inclusion. If you go to www.hermesscarf.com - there is a link to upload a photo....
