Rediscovering Marc Jacobs vintage

Both are brown, I hope you meant the tan color bag? 😆
Ah I didn't realize the little Stam was brown, I have my brightness turned down pretty low haha. Thanks for sharing the picture!! The Real Real often miscategorizes exotic skins as "textured leather" or "animal print." Marc often used leather linings in his exotic bags as well, which aligns with yours!

Amazing find!! I've also been lurking this forum for old posts to help me identify bags but also to see old Marc bags that I'm not familiar with.

I actually just found a very rare vintage Marc bag on TRR last night because I had just seen it on an old PurseForum post! It's fall 2006 from the limited "Sweet Punk" collection, and the canvas pieces like mine were boutique exclusives.

It was priced so low because The Real Real marked it as fair condition for the hardware being chipped and the bag being scuffed, but that was done on purpose and they were always sold this way! Marc Jacobs also reissued this one in particular in 2017, but with some updates like a Marc Jacobs logo on the front of the new one and a slightly different shape.

The newer ones on TRR are priced similarly to the totes, like in the $200 range but I only paid $80 for mine, which is the original! It retailed for $695 at retail in 2006.

I've attached pictures of the original (left) and the reissue (right) for reference and I'll post pictures of mine when it comes!
those bags are beautiful and you got a great price
They were very popular here on the PF back in the day. I got one but sold it, mostly due to the weight and the HW on the handles made it clunky

The prices are absolutely unreal right now but I have a feeling that they'll spike up within a few years. Which one did you have? I'd love to find a black leather one! I found a leather sweet punk bag on Poshmark but it's in the beige which I don't love unfortunately.

I've bought three super vintage-y pieces in the last month that I knew were timeless and only one is in so-so condition. Well, I get it today so I'll be able to assess how much work I'll have to put into it. But for $50? When these bags never dropped below $500 even on discount at a department store? I'll take it.

Please post when you can! There are people online who do magic on restoring leather bags and they have some great tips

Curious if anyone knows names for these bag styles or what era these bags were from. They all have the mini studs on the handles, the large front buckle and then the fluted tassels, so assuming they were from similar collections around the same time. I really enjoy the wackiness of the black version with the fringe.

Maybe we should do a "post your vintage MJ finds" like the Balenciaga forum. I need to take a break from buying so someone needs to buy these so I don't:

Yes, that a great idea with a vintage thread. The most contemporary bags haven’t reached that age…I will look into that tonight….maybe we can set „vintage“ to our goals. Means- not up to at least 20 years but starting from 15 years or so 😅
