Fantastic, I will look into the color Pomegranate - thanks for the tip on that.

The MJ reference library isn’t really working for me, so many of the images don’t show up. I was thinking ok, it’s probably not barn red, I have a bag in cherry tart, it’s definitely not that, but I didn’t think it fit with Bordeaux, so I’m glad that you came up with another possibility! Thank you!!
Ok I did a deep dive on the color pomegranate, and I found out that it is pretty similar to the color Brick, but that pomegranate was typically lined with canvas, but that Brick was lined with brown suede. This bag is lined in chocolate brown suede, and now I’m leaning toward the color being “Brick”. I’ve attached a picture of the lining color next to the red leather of the body of the bag. I’m still not sure what of a year/season but that’s not really something that is hugely impactful to me. I wore this bag out to get groceries today.

Today’s bag:
Quinn (size medium?, about 9”x11”) in Eggplant (?)

Lined in bright purple suede.

I don’t wear a lot of purple so I just haven’t used this bag much. I actually feel kind of bad, because the size is very useful, it’s small and flat enough that I’ve packed it for taking on trips; I just don’t reach for it day to day.

Compared to my other MJ bags, the leather was pretty tough, but it gained a lot of softness through conditioning, it needed a ton of conditioner, I think it was very dry.

It has a pretty large blemish on the back, likely from rubbing when it was stored by a previous owner. This spot improves with conditioner, but the leather has been too worn over time for it to help more than temporarily. I’m not too bothered by it, it wouldn’t stop me from wearing it. Oh, and I wanted to post a picture side by side comparing the Elise and the Quinn, to compare size and color. I typically adjust the color settings in my photos, here I’ve made sure that both colors are showing as true to actual color as possible. If you have any input, happy to hear it! My current best guess is that the Elise is in the color Brick (lined in brown suede) and the Quinn is in Eggplant (lined in purple suede)IMG_5242.webp

Agree, it’s nice, I just don’t reach for it much and I’m trying to figure out why.

As part of this project I’m creating an album in my phone of pictures of my bags so I make more of a habit to reach for some more often. This one I know I took it on a trip to NYC a year ago, other than that I can’t think of the last time I wore it. I think I just forget about some bags once they’re put away. I just looked up and I paid $52.50 for it on The RealReal.😂😂😂

I know. I only have maybe 12-15 bags and sometimes I forget about some of them.

That is a reasonable number of bags, and really for me, I just want some variety to carry everyday around my neighborhood or then to go out to dinner. With the MJ bags especially, there were many at a lower price point than what I thought they were worth in terms of materials/design etc. that I went a little crazy. I was in school for a long time and missed out on some, so I’m sure that fed into my buying frenzy.

I live in a city, in 1000 sq ft, so I need to keep it to reasonable numbers, and what I have now is too many for my lifestyle. I have an armoire for bags, and then I’d probably like to keep some for “archival” or sentimental purposes, and that likely means letting go of some, where I bought everything not through the lens of ever selling, but just what I really like. But that’s likely the end of this whole thing. Right now it’s just maintenance.
