Rediscovering Marc Jacobs vintage

I also have a recent green (this one is a dark green) hobo/shoulder bag that was priced really well. The leather had some rubbing off in some little areas so I think the seller was just ready to get rid of it. I don’t see a lot of the older bags with this button style but I love these weird little round buttons.

Oh, those little button balls are really niiiiiice! Need one bag of those, too. It’s great to have so many bags to rediscover. 😀

This line was so scrumptious. I had the Kirsten for years. None of the luxury houses do leather like this anymore

I'm so happy people are talking about vintage Marc! I've been collecting his 2000s bags and have come across some insane showstoppers, I've included a few below. From left to right: Pre-fall 2009 safety pin Stam, FW06 python Capra, and a fur/python bag that I'm unable to identify. If anyone knows anything about the burgundy one, let me know! I haven't been able to find much information other than it retailed for $2,950 when it was sold.

Kate Hudson’s character in Running Point carries Birkins mostly but she has a Stam in a few scenes and I noted the interesting costume choice. It really fits the character that she would have an it bag from the early 00s

Hey everyone, I solved the mystery of the vintage burgundy fur bag! It's called the Monica clutch (though it can be worn as a handbag) and it's from FW07! I've included some runway photos and my original picture of the bag for reference :)

Amazing job. Like really well done. I briefly tried to look through some of the runway photos last night but there’s just so many collections. Glad you were able to solve it!

The leather is so solid too. I’ve only picked up a few pieces but all the leathers are so different. There must’ve been so many different types of leathers being used back then. This hobo feels closer to a Coach bag I recently got that’s from sometime in the mid-80s. Scrumptious. The seller included this little card which shows it was a vegetable tanned leather.

I’m looking at the Kerstin now and it’s so cute (again with the buttons 😍). I have to show some restraint because I’ve been so trigger happy with these vintage MJ bags!

Thank you!! I figured it out by looking through old purseforum posts from when people would post the whole collection catalogue with SKU numbers, estimated how to read the SKU for item type/collection/individual style and guessed it was from fall 2007. I ended up identifying it via this comment: https://forum.purseblog.com/threads...s-marc-jacobs-collections.143673/post-4488907

Omgggg I've been going NUTS buying vintage MJ bags and RTW these past few weeks. His clothes are beautiful quality and insanely priced on TRR and other reselling sites. I've gotten 3 different runway coats already!

I had one of these back in the day that was a pinkish-brown mauve color and I sold it because my friend teased me that it looked like a pair of breasts. I still have a black one somewhere with the round buttons too, if I dig it up I’ll post a pic.

Okay - that specific green bag pre-dates my MJ mania and I have always wondered how it looked/carries IRL - I love the close up shots - look at that perfect stitching!!!! I need a green bag!!!

I am happy to see that many people are engaged in this thread and I am happy to keep Marc Jacob’s a bit back in our heads. 🙏😁 I am certainly now into for collecting some bits and pieces from now on. Only reglementation: „made Italy“. It came to my mind that I have another Marc Jacob’s bag from an older collection. It’s hidden in my closet. Wore it once but the very perfect occasion. I am not even sure when I got it. Maybe it’s not even vintage. 🤭 I will dig it out for you all.
