Hello Prada lovers,

I can't believe the made in China thing - what is going to happen to the italian manufacturing plants?

Also, I am wondering if I could pick you brains... I am not able to start threads yet but I am dying to find out if this is a genuine Prada briefcase or not...

There is no made in italy tag inside, nor the metal logo tag, but was wondering if Prada used to do that back in 2000?

Thanks!

Seems as though..... Check this out:

That's right, ladies and gents! Prada has pulled another fast one on us. First the Pleather Fiasco, now they are selling the couture line Prada (with couture line Prada price tags) and they are being manufactured in CHINA.

This is going to make reselling Prada bags a nightmare! Can you imagine someone getting a real Prada with a "Made in China" tag so carefully hidden away. Can you say "Paypal Dispute"??

We all know the Linea Rossa line is Made in China, but it's priced accordingly. I have nothing against items made in China and own my share, but when Prada is selling "Made in Italy" bags at "Made in Italy" prices and they are being manufactured for next to nothing because of the low labor costs in China?

Sorry, folks. I'm done with Prada. This is completely unacceptable. I'm sick of this. It's deceptive as hell and I won't be supporting it any longer.

OMG OMG OMG!! I never thought I'd see the day!! I am so shocked!! This is unacceptable. I'm surprised that Prada would pull this stunt. Made in Italy means "MADE IN ITALY" I'm really at a loss of words.

I'm totally with you PP and I've embarked on selling most of my Prada. I've bought a perfectly lovely Bally for my everyday bag. I'll keep a few of my smaller, evening type Prada and one large overnighter which is perfect and gets a heap of use. But the rest can go. DH will also be so pleased at the amount of room which will be vacated in the closet. I think the Car Shoes might go too - guilt by association.

The post you quoted was a while back, Figgy, but not that long and by the recent posts on this thread, this:

Is already starting to materialize....

Off topic, Figgy, what do you think of my two new favorite designers? :graucho:

Hubby says the next thing I'll be after is an Hermès holster. :lolots:

And why not!!!

But 2!!! You got another one!!! I can see you've been well seduced by the "wild side":roflmfao:

I bought Prada cork wedge slides from NM online. They were on sale, and the description said "imported" and it never really occurred to me that they could be made anywhere but Italy. When I got them, for some odd reason I kept looking for that Made in...sticker. After a long while, I found it, its on the inside of the strap, more towards where the toes are, and basically unless you really, really, look, you wont be able to see it. The shoes are Made in China.
I don't have a problem with the fact that they are made in China, but more to the fact that the store for items made in Italy/France will say exactly that, but if its from China it will say "Imported". And also, the fact that its so well hidden on the actual shoe. Where my other Italian made shoes, the Made in Italy is so visible and obvious. To me both of those things are misleading, and while I won't say that I will never buy from Prada again, I must admit I am deeply disappointed by this finding.

So you are saying that the Made in China bags are now being sold in the actual Prada boutiques and not just in the Space Outlets?

Yes I purchased my bag at prada boutique in scp!! Very very very disappointed- and I even asked why the tag was cut after I took the bag home, and even the manager claimed she's never heard of prada bags being made in china...all I can say is beware when buying prada!

I was planning on a trip to Cabazon to visit the Prada outlet until I heard about the made in China bs. I was hoping it was like the Coach outlets, some items from the full price stores and made for factory carp. Glad I never went.
I just won a Prada bag on Ebay. As I recall it from last year ( saw it in NM and on Rafaello) I never even thought about asking where it was made. :push:
