You ladies are absolutely correct. I am reading a book about luxury losing its luster. A lot of these bags and items are cheaply made; however, they cost an arm and a leg. Once items reach the masses, it is all about profit from there. Why do you think there are so many Birkins on the market now? You may as well buy a reasonably priced, well made bag than the designer crap that is being created now. Supply and Demand (Economics). The consumers are the dummies for buying this worthless crap. I was one of those dummies until I started paying attention to quality. When you start seeing soccer moms and young girls carrying all these designer brands, you can imagine the quality is compromised.

What book is that? Interesting read- maybe it can help cure my bag addiction..please let me know when you have time. Thank you!

After I saw this I ran to my bag to check, thankfully it said made in italy. The bag is the canapa righe in cobalto. I bought it at NM.

Update on my bag with no tag- sa said they found the exact bag in another store in the east coast and guess what?! That one didn't have a made in tag as well! Omg- unbelievable. I told him, Im not happy that I don't know where the bag is made so he said I can exchange it if I find anything I like at my local prada. I asked if it was illegal that the tag is cut or that none of the bags in this style have the made in wherever tag? Answer was they came in boxes that said MADe in Italy... Go figure. I'm going to prada this weekend hoping I find something....still fishy I think...oh btw, the bag is from spring 2009-

How ironic that Prada said that sooner or later everyone will do the same because the quality of China-made bags is getting better and better. I hope others will not follow suit. Prada forgot the fact that it's not the quality we are complaining, but the price!!

Something strange happened to me in a PRADA store couple of days ago..

I saw a very nice white bag and was interested in it. But after reading all these posts here, I wanted to make sure that "my" bag was made in Italy.
I friendly asked the SA whether she could show me where it's made.

She then said Italy and showed me the PRADA Logo, where Milano is written underneath. :push::-s

I was like eerm that's the normal logo, I want to see the tag, thinking a SA in PRADA just tried to fool me :cursing:

so in the end, it turned out that the bag was made in China but upon showing me the tag, the SA immediately added that they were made in China as the leather is better from there.

true or not, I smiled and left the store. :noggin:

Milano, China? :lolots:

That's quite a comical story!! Ha, at least we take the high road and don't chastise the SA's for being ignorant. ;)

I wish I could do that actually.

well, I sometimes think that they aren't as ignorant as they pretend to be

This SA certainly tried to take me for a fool but maybe I was just unlucky and got a mean SA. :shrugs:
