Does that mean that even if you see a tag "MADE IN CHINA" in the zipper compartment it's still authentic?

No. The counterfeiters will still put a similar Made in China tag in the bag. Crooks always stay on top of things like this. The only sure way of getting a real Prada is from a Prada boutique. I don't even trust NM, BG or Saks b/c people have been known to buy real Pradas and return fakes to those stores. Since the SAs have NO clue how to authenticate, fakes can get out on those shelves.

i just bought a prada color flap from saks and the stitching on the bag is completely uneven! is this the quality they provide now? has anyone else noticed this too? it almost looks fake.. i'm tempted to go to the prada store to as if it is real- that's how bad it looks.

Much like every other "luxury" brand, the price keeps going up and yes, the quality has continued to go down, down, down. With Prada, for at least 4-5 years now, maybe longer.

When I was at NM looking at BN1844 Saffiano Lux Tote, I noticed the stitching on the red handbag was so uneven and crooked. It is quite obvious since its on the opening part of the bag. I haven't seen that kind of poor quality check in non premium designer handbags. I still bought a lux tote but in black and I inspected it inside out to be sure everything is ok.

Oh gosh! I agree really best to get it from the boutiques, seriously there are just too many fakes out there..

wow- this is a very interesting thread. I just surveyed my prada bags. All are from Neiman Marcus. 7 of them have a made in italy tag or plaque and 2 of them I could not find any made in tag- only found the small white tag with a number in the pocket.

Yes, thanks to the OP for posting this info. I just checked out a tela tweed bag from NM that is lined in suede and the tag inside the zippered pocket did read "Made in Italy."

But I could NOT find any "made in____" tag in one of the Prada canvas totes at NM. Anyone have one of the canvas totes? Does it have the "made in___" tag? I thought they were required to put that in the item.

It's such a shame that you now have to look at EVERY bag you purchase so closely to see where it was made before you decide whether you want to pay the price.

Wow, sorry to learn of this....I haven't been in the Prada forum for a while but was thinking of selling some bags I don't use and then purchasing another Prada Bag. Usually I would get at Neimans but now it sounds like thats not even safe.

No - they don't generally. The country of manufacture is usually stamped into the leather.

I was wondering where the "made in" was on wallets also. I can't find it on one Saffiano wallet or on one of the Prada bracelets. This is so strange to me. I don't like the idea of them hiding the "made in " labels at all.

Does anyone have any tips on where the "made in" label might be on the slgs?

TIA
