Prada Bags: Now Made in China for Italian Made Prices."

I haven't bought a new Prada in several years...this is so disappointing! Was just checking out the Fall line today...I think I will pass now :-(. THese designers just get to big for their britches! Just keep on raising the price while sacrificing quality...why would Prada Milano be made in China? One at a time I am running out of designers to buy...I'm stubborn...don't care who's name is on it. They will of course blame it on the economy...

it was from ebay...and from what i feel n see . it looks real...its from past season..shoudli post pic?

I've not seen enough Prada briefcases to know exactly where the would have the "Made in" tag. Did you look inside the inside pockets, all the inside seams? Even though it's saffiano, it usually will have a tag since it's not a small accessory like a wallet (where they heat-stamp the Made in Italy).

You may have to check every single corner of the briefcase with a magnifying glass to find it. If you don't find it, I'd be very suspicious that it had been removed.

Oh no... I juts got a saffiano briefcase and there no "made in italay" tag,,, only a number 48 white tag,,, anyone know what the number means?!

I have a canvas tote that I couldn't find the "made in" tag. In the pocket I had a number like yours--no idea what it means--looked like an "inspector number" you find on stickers on clothes like inexpensive T-shirts to me--lol. Anyway, I eventually found the "made in Italy" tag--in the bottom lining of the bag. I wasn't concerned about authenticity because I bought it at NM directly from the store and it was a completely new item just out of the box direct from Prada. Try looking all over the interior lining for a small tag.

I've inspected several of my bags and slgs, all so far are made in italy. But some are several years old--when it was very easy to locate the "made in italy." And I still can't find it on my bracelet.

I bought a Saffiano Lux (BN1844) from Prada.com just this week and checked the label. It was "Made in Italy".

I really wouldn't have minded even if the label had read Made in China. I doubt it means the quality would be lower than in the ones that are (supposedly) made in Italy. It's a reasonable way for any business to maximize profits to find the most cost efficient way to produce items and services.

hmm wasnt there a dispute with COACH regarding the "made in China" fiasco.

Call me whatever you want...I prefer my handbags to be made in Italy. Heels too. I prefer Italian handcrafted shoes.

As far as this is concerned, I don't think it's safe to assume anything. Check carefully before purchasing.

I agree with Miss Figgy.

But where and how to look for it?

Well, I have these two beautiful Prada long wallets.
I hope these pictures will help a fellow tPFer find the "Made in" tag.

Here are my 2 gorgeous Prada wallets, in Fuoco and Viola (Saffiano leather inside and out, no pleather here ;) )

The "Made in" tag takes some patience to find, and a very good eyesight to read.

The tag is hidden inside the middle pocket.
If you are inspecting the wallet in person, be sure you are in a well-lighted area, and if you wear glasses, be sure to wear them. If you have magnifying glass, bring it! The tag is so tiny and the letters are even tinier. Be careful not to pull the pocket too much.

It took me a while to capture the tag and make it readable.

Zooming into the tag...

Now, I know it is hard to read, and even harder to read upside-down.
So here is the inverted pic.

The first two words - MADE IN - are easier to read than the third word.
When I first inspected these wallets, I could not read the 3rd word.
But I could clearly read the first letter to be "I" and the last letter to be "Y". For me, that was enough. :graucho:

There you go. Now you know where to look for the tag :D
