I will leave this reminder as a sticky because tthis is often a thread that new members (or new Hermès lovers) post on - hopefully temporarily.

- Lottery system
- Try to ask for a walk-in appointment whenever you're free and around a store (kindly complaining at the desk about the lottery system and how it's not convenient for you and your work schedule as a local. A lot of Parisians do that (and that makes sense). It doesn't guarantee anything of course)
- Have one or several regular SAs
Thank you, that is helpful :ty:

After being a client for a long long long time there is only so much that you really need that can still fit in your closet as well and my appartment did not get bigger with the move to Paris, rather the opposite. But maybe I will then try to ask for a leather appointment with my occasional scarf purchase.

If you aren't interested in anything but the iconic bags, I would wait til you're a little more secure in the new job and then keep trying the lottery.

if there are other things you're interested in, just go shopping  A non-leather SA can advocate for you to get a leather appointment (they can also help with non-iconic bags and occasionally with iconic ones).

No one is ever surprised when a client's main aim is to get a Birkin

It’s never about being more secure in my job, it’s more like I don’t like to cancel meetings the same day for something that is honestly not urgent at all. This forum and social media sometimes makes me think that bags, accessories and RWT are all that matters, but life often reminds me that it is indeed not.

Well for anything else then the lottery you need that SA connection.

But given you not interested in anything besides the bags, I’d say go retailer

I never wrote that I am not interested in anything besides the bag. When it comes to resellers - not my cup of tea. I rather know that my bag is authentic and in the end only Hermès will know (there are superfakes out there and I don't need to have a bag I purchased for a super duper premium to be destroyed once I give it to Hermès spa, even it it is an entry bag like an Evelyne).

To all of you who visit Paris and want to score a lottery spot. I have tried the lottery now for so many times that I stopped counting at around 30 times in a row. There is soooooo much to do and see in Paris. If you are unlucky with getting a spot, try to see it as a sign that the universe has a better bag available for you at a future point in time. It's how I see it now.

Someone on this thread was told by an SA that applying everyday is viewed negatively and they shouldn't do it. If you don't work on Saturdays, maybe just apply weekly of a Saturday appointment.

This is interesting. I’m a statistician/data scientist professionally, and they must have some algorithm to process the daily # of requests for an appointment. From what I’ve observed and heard from this community, you have a greater probability of scoring an appointment if you have a France profile, I also believe how long you’ve had a profile makes a difference. There must be some sort of logistic regression model they’re using…

Still through the IT grapevine, no algorithm at all. And regarding the France profile, I have one since more than 10 years now, and after around 100 applications, no appointment in Paris where I live.

Yeah I don’t think there’s a specific algo with the lottery system, as it’s geared mostly towards tourists. I’d be surprised if they had an in-house engineer writing a specific client-ranking algorithm for a lottery system lol. Too much risk for people to “crack the code” and game the system.

Okay so if this is true, then it wouldn’t matter if someone was applying every day…?
