Arrived in Paris on Tuesday the 30th. Made my first attempt for an appointment for the 31st and 1st. Received a confirmation immediately but no rejection or acceptance either evening. Tried again yesterday morning for Saturday the 2nd and got an appointment confirmation last night for today at 6pm. As they email said to check back frequently during the day, I did and my appointment had been moved
Up to 1:30. Mad dash to get ready and when I checked again, it said my appointment was imminent. Grabbed a cab to George V and waited. About 30 minutes later I met a lovely SA who asked me
What I was looking for. I told her I wanted a gold 32 or 35 Kelly and a few back up choices. She left and returned about 15 minutes later with a single box. She slowly opened it and it was a 32 Gold Kelly with PHW in Barenia Faubourg. I couldn’t believe it. The smell is intoxicating. Of course, I said yes and walked out with this beauty.

I was here in April this year and got an appointment after trying 9 times (x 3 with my husband, son and myself). Got the appointment on our last day in Paris at Rue de Sevres. Was lucky enough to get a
35 Black with PHW Togo Kelly.

I know I have been extremely lucky and I think I’m officially done with my Hermes acquisitions (is that even possible)?

The George V store was busy today. There was a line when I left the store.

Good luck to all who are trying for a lottery appointment and finding your special Hermes bag.
It can happen, I know it doesn't always happen. I have heard No many times but when you finally get the Yes, it is magical.

Thank you for telling me your truth and taking the time to respond to me post . I appreciate it .

You are correct about saying that I shouldn’t judge other peoples success stories . I’m just beyond frustrated at trying for so long to get something , be treated so terribly each and every time I’ve gone into an Hermes store . I’ve been to over 100 of them all over the world and each and everyone has treated me like the scene in Pretty Woman almost every single time . Like I’m not worth it to shop there . It’s just very frustrating after reading all over the purse forum that Paris is basically your only option to get offered one . I had very high hopes and expectations especially being there for 4 days . Which I understand isn’t alot but I tried every single day and to be let down every single time was a big bummer . It was just Hermes , but every store I tried to shop at was out of stock or sold out of everything I tried to get .

I hope I get my dream bag someday soon . Thank you for saying that .
Sorry to hear about your frustrations in trying to obtain an H bag. I hope that you are able to get one from H someday soon.

I’ve heard Hermes SAs in Paris each own their own metiers for a few weeks time and rotate… does this mean they can’t “help you” cross metier (outside of leather) the way it’s done in the states?

I have never been to a Paris boutique and am happy with my (tiny) local boutique and SA, but I may start frequently traveling to Paris for work on an enduring/recurring basis and want to explore potentially building a profile in Paris as well. Does it work the same as the states (find someone that matches your approach to shopping/exchange numbers for text and appointments etc)?

Any other advice?
It's true each SA serves in a particular department for a fixed period before rotating, although some SAs remain in the same department permanently. Generally, an SA will only assist you in their designated department, but there may be instances where they are willing to help with other departments. While it is possible to find an SA who is willing to provide additional assistance and even share their contact information, it is rare compared to home boutiques.

How does it work for locals in Paris with bag appointments? I’m sure that it is written here somewhere but I can’t find it. I recently moved to Paris for work and now wonder how I could get a bag appointment. I have been trying the lottery so many times but no luck. Don’t get me wrong I am totally fine with the lottery system but my vacation ended and now getting a time slot assigned the evening before clashes with my new job. I can’t cancel a work meeting with the words - sorry I just got a sought after spot for a meeting to potentially buy a handbag that costs several thousands of euros  well I could but I that’s not the legacy that I want to have:no:

And I am currently not in love with any of the RTW to start a connection with an SA who can’t probably help anyway.

Well for anything else then the lottery you need that SA connection.

But given you not interested in anything besides the bags, I’d say go retailer :)

Hello - Just want to share my story a few months ago in May at the George V store. DH and I each tried 9-10 times before DH scored an appointment the day before we left Paris. It was a 5pm appointment at George V so we said we needed to manage our expectation as there might not be enough bags at the end of the day and George V is a smaller store. Like others, our appointment got moved earlier so we started our appointment at around 4:30pm. We were assigned a lovely lady and she quickly noted down my wish list - top of my list was B/K in neutral colour. She was listening to me and was checking her phone as I spoke. She noticed from our purchase history that we bought some things in 2022 and said “oh you guy were here last year”. After she took down our wish list she went to check stock for about 5-10 minutes. And then she came back and said the magic words “follow me please”. We were led to a small room upstairs. She opened the only box that she was holding and it was a Birkin 25 in gold with PHW! I was beyond thrilled and I told the SA that of course I’d take it!

FYR - in terms of pre-spend, I have some pre-spend; we didn’t count specifically but it’s almost 1:1 to the price of a Birkin 25 (on DH’s account haha). All those spending were made during this trip and our trip in 2022. Before we scored the appointment, we tried to ask the SAs who helped us with the purchases each time for leather appointments (if and when we felt there were some connection with the SA…) but we were not successful. We were also declined for walk in appointments in all the stores.

(Ps I don’t have pictures of the bag with me right now!)

I hope this helps!

- Lottery system
- Try to ask for a walk-in appointment whenever you're free and around a store (kindly complaining at the desk about the lottery system and how it's not convenient for you and your work schedule as a local. A lot of Parisians do that (and that makes sense). It doesn't guarantee anything of course)
- Have one or several regular SAs

If you aren't interested in anything but the iconic bags, I would wait til you're a little more secure in the new job and then keep trying the lottery.

if there are other things you're interested in, just go shopping :) A non-leather SA can advocate for you to get a leather appointment (they can also help with non-iconic bags and occasionally with iconic ones).

No one is ever surprised when a client's main aim is to get a Birkin :)

I scored 2 appointments this year, 1 in May on my name and the other in June on my husband's name via the lottery system.
Both the appointments were for George V.
Unfortunately we were both received by the same SA and both times she took about 5 minutes to check for the bags we requested and turned us down both times. We were very open to different sizes and colours but she vehemently denied having any stock of bags.
It was absolutely frustrating as people were being led away to private areas during their appointments.
I did not even accompany my husband for his appointment as I was so put off by her attitude, that it seemed like a nightmare that he encountered the same SA.
Getting a bag in my country is almost impossible, so Paris was my only hope but I guess I will never be getting one.

I love this story, hope you wear the bag in good health! May I ask if your 2022 spend was also at George V? I wonder if it helps when you’ve purchased before at the same store or if generally having a purchase history in Paris helps. Thanks!
