I will leave this reminder as a sticky because tthis is often a thread that new members (or new Hermès lovers) post on - hopefully temporarily.

I don’t know if this is so off topic. I just had a crazy experience in Paris where my time with an SA was interrupted by a demanding and unreasonable walk in client to the point the SA had to stop working with me for a significant period of time in order to deal with person. The SA was lovely and I remained calm and stepped back and this was the reason I was offered a bag. The behaviour was terrible and I hope to never see anything like it again and I certainly feel for any SA who has to deal with that rule of behaviour.
What happened???

Hi, peeps! I am back from a trip to Paris - we were there for two and a half days - from 8/8 to 8/11. We had a WONDERFUL time visiting all stores.

8/8 - went to FSH. No leather appointments were available via walk-in. Headed to the SLG desk (where yes, you can ask for KTG/CTG), and none were available. I bought a rodeo pegase and a calvi wallet in Yucca/Celeste — so pretty!

8/9 - did not secure a lottery appointment. Went to FSH; no leather appointments were available again via walk-in. At the SLG desk, I was bought/selected a Vert Fizz Chain D’Ancre To Go, which the SA said had come in that day - in three colors: Gold with PHW, Vizz with PHW and then a light gray (maybe Gris Perle, or something similar) with GHW. Also bought a bag strap for my other KTGs, a scarf, a bracelet and then my husband got a belt — we then walked the City allllll day, stopping in to Georges and Sevres; no leather appointments were available via walk-in. I did buy a rodeo at Sevres.

8/10 - popped in for the last time to FSH, no leather appointments available.

In the PAST, my sis and I had been lucky with walk-in appointments - this time, I didn’t really catch a vibe that they were doled out as regularly as before (or, maybe we were just super lucky on prior trips). I didn’t specify what I was looking for while asking for a leather appointment, which is probably neither here nor there. All-in, the stores were really busy and everyone was super friendly - we had such a nice time and I’m very happy to have added a new style TG to the collection (as well as everything else, of course).

Very nice, glad you enjoyed!

Would love to see your pegase, Calvi, and Chain D'Ancre

Related question for all you experienced Parisian shoppers: I notice how people often mention they were ordered ABC at the "xyz desk".

When people are saying desk, do they mean the literal desk...or do they mean the department? Does everything take place right at the "desk" as you walk in?
The OCD person in me is imagining how that would get congested and unorganized quickly.

Do SAs not offer you stuff on the floor (or at a seat/table)?

I’ll be going to Paris to try my luck next month and was wondering if any of you ever requested a specific color vs the type of bag? As in, I have been eyeing the verte fizz/verte criquet color and, if I can manage to get a leather appointment, would it be looked strangely upon if I said I want that specific color, doesn’t matter if it’s a birkin or Kelly. I know when a new color comes out, people might have wanted to acquire that specific color, so just want to see if anyone ever had success with this sort of request?

Well yes I have and most times my SAs could offer the exact specs I actually wanted. To be fair, my experiences are not that of the first time customer. You can certainly put in the request but if you only mention colour and not designs, then the bag offers might not necessarily be a Birkin or Kelly. Current seasonal colours are actually easier, as they tend to have that in regular deliveries, and also most first time customers request neutral classics. However the earliest bag drops tend to pop up first at the flagship.

I’m contemplating investing my money into a relationship with an SA in Paris
No prespend is necessary in Paris bc the SAs do not work on commission. usually only leather SAs can offer bags. And if your main goal is to get a QB, I think it will be hard to initiate a successful SA relationship in Paris. The reluctance of the Paris stores to cultivate new relationships has been discussed many times throughout this thread; the general consensus is that Paris now encourages customers to patronize their local boutiques

ETA: prespend in the US is very fluid and climbing bc of the limited supply and increased demand. Unfortunately spend exceeding 5-7K USD per visit, excluding leather, is common for many regular clients. This is explored extensively in the prespend thread; H relationship thread; and local shopping threads

If you get a leather appointment, you can be as specific as you like And should list your top choice first. If you want a QB, you should list that first without hesitation. You do not want to be offered a vert fizz Halzan if you really want a QB

That’s great to hear your SAs were able to find your exact specs! I was just worried that by requesting a specific color, and saying it can either be a Birkin or Kelly, I would look like I don’t care about Hermes besides just wanting a quota bag. Not sure if I’m overthinking this but I want to be as prepared as possible if I score a leather appointment!

If you get a leather appointment, they expect you to be hyper focused on getting a quota bag. I wouldn’t worry about it and just try sounding sincere “You know, I actually just really love the new color Vert Fizz! Its just such the perfect color that if I could have it in my collection, I don’t think I’d care whether it were a Birkin or a kelly!”

Haha I love it. I’m definitely overthinking, acting like I’m about to ask someone to prom

As the others said be very specific, at my last appointment in paris i even showed her pictures of what i want. I was offered the exact bag i wanted, it was in a bigger size but an amazing offer.

Thank you for letting me know about the Paris no pre-spend! A quota bag would be amazing but I just requested for a Herbag and haven’t gotten one whereas a friend of mine spent under $1k, and got one. We both shopped at the same store and she only spoke with her SA one time in 6 months and got a bag with no relationship build. She’s very lucky and I’m happy for her but it makes me sad how varied pre-spend is in the US. I’m just concerned of reaching to the point like other people I’ve seen on here where they spent so much for no bags. Figured I might have a better chance of scoring a Herbag in Paris and getting some cute RTW that’s different style from what I see here.

Would appreciate feedback from those more experienced at FSH!

First time in Hermes Paris today.
Was offered a Picotin 22 in a lovely pale blue (have forgotten color) as well as one more 22 and two more 18s at FSH today. I had no appointment, walked in and asked to see a Picotin.

I had no expectations for stock, and I’m not experienced with the brand apart from jewelry, shoes and silks. I was super polite, the SA was fantastic, and I could have left with a lovely bag.

However, I decided to think about it. I doubt I’ll ever be a K or B customer, but do like Picotin and Lindy. Should I have taken the chance when it was offered??
