I will leave this reminder as a sticky because tthis is often a thread that new members (or new Hermès lovers) post on - hopefully temporarily.

Why would I not ?
I was told I could ask for any bag and from the previous posts on this blog many ladies have asked for a quota bag without an appointment and walked out with one.
"Many" might be a big stretch if you compare the people posting these successes here to the many many people, leaving the stores without their QBs.

Wanted to post my recent experience.
Arrived in Paris this past Saturday and had no luck in Fabourg store with an appointment. The guy at the appointment desk was very rude and condescending I actually left my purchases and walked out.

I immediately headed to another boutique where I met a sweet lady and choose some jewellery items that I am unable to get here in London.
I mentioned to her I’d like a Picotin to try my luck with a humble bag option as I was due to leave the next day ( Sunday ) so I thought it might be achievable.
I instead managed to get a leather appointment for Monday ( today ) so I choose to extend my trip until today.

...

I’m not sure if I should be happy or sad that I spent this much and extended my trip to leave with a Picotin?
...
Nobody likes to be treated condescendingly. I can understand that very well and I feel sorry for you. I also can understand your disapointment.

Though: Still, I think: maybe you were a bit lucky not to have ended up in the "overheard Hermès" thread.:graucho:

Leaving your purchases from the other SA because you weren't treated the way you should have been by another / colleague - or didn't achieve your maybe true goal? - might not have been so pleasant for that SA who spent his time on you. And you asked for a Picotin and then were not satisfied, so this SA might even felt a bit not taken seriously/mocked?

"Many" might be a big stretch if you compare the people posting these successes here to the many many people, leaving the stores without their QBs.

Coupled with the 'I didn't follow the rules and I was rewarded with what I always wanted' is a better story to do a 'show and tell' than 'I acted like I was better than the plebs who do what they were told, and still got 0' which one might not want to share so readily.

That others don't understand 'getting lucky' is based on luck and not formula is difficult to accept. That's what FOMO is, fear is a distressing emotion, but even Bs and Ks are just bags. Hermes doesn't owe anyone anything.

Plenty of bags in Paris besides H Q/Bs. Plenty of Paris besides FSH.

So can someone explain how people manage to get a quota bag without winning the lottery? As I see it often with influencers they obtain an appointment via their hotel or randomly get lucky in store.
In my experience if you get an appointment asking for a non-quota bag they make the notes and your appointment is for that bag. Most of the time the SA will tell you no B/K/C your appointment is for a picoton. It is very, very difficult to turn a non-quota bag appointment into a successful request for a B/K/C- if that is what you want ask for it up front then if your appointment was scheduled for Monday they would know that this is what you are looking for, you still may have ended up only with a picoton.

In my experience the hotel/SA appointments have higher priority for quota bags than lottery appointments and you are very likely to get the bag you request provided they have the stock.

Take home message if you want a B/K/C ask for it up front. Do not expect to turn a walk-in appointment based on a request for Evelyne/picotin into a quota bag you will likely be disappointed.

I hope you enjoy your new picotin

+1. I hope “switcharoo” walk-in appts don’t end up making Paris decide to scrap walk-in appts altogether, which will ruin it for those who truly only want a non-QB. Although ideally Paris could just limit the requirement of a leather appt to B/K/C and allow the rest of the bag styles to be purchased without an appt.

Agree with this as well. I’m June I was in paris and asked for a mini evelyne as a walk in got the appointment and got the mini evelyne, also asked during the appointment for a bolide and got one. Never asked for a quota bag as I don’t think that’s right either and at the end the SA shared her details with me and told me to message her next time I was in paris. I do think you get extra points if you don’t do the “switcharoo” as is a bit disingenuous.

I doubt they would as they don’t ask on registration what people are looking for and want to be able to offer them a non QB if they don’t have a QB available.

I do think if a non QB is requested by someone nice or for a specific item they have the SA will try to accommodate if possible without an appointment from lottery but I wouldn’t be expecting a QB from it. It can’t be easy for the SAs. The system can be very frustrating for customers without a Paris based SA that can offer bags but the constant requests must be frustating for the SAs.

I did ask for appointment for mini evelyne and I during the appointment I also mentioned that my dream would be my first B or K, but I knew my chances were almost zero, still I don’t think it hurts to ask, but I totally was prepared for be offered only Evelyne and I was happy with that because I wanted to get one anyway. I wouldn’t ask for a bag that I don’t need or not want to have. Asking only for Birkin when you requested appointment for a non quota bag is definetly seems as trying to cheat the system, moreover after SA returned from the back asking to go check other styles seems to be rude. You could ask all at once so SA doesn’t need go to the back 2-3 times even though they know inventory they still have to go back and make it look like they are checking. Leather desk definitely put notes if walk in appointment was specifically arranged for certain non quota bag. i think little few are lucky to be offered more.

Maybe worth mentioning that a non QB isn’t guranted either as a walkin. When at FSH and George V in June, I asked specifically for a Herbag, but no SA available...

Definitely true. Sorry I didn’t mean to imply that it was. First they have to be willing to sell you a non QB and, if so, then it has to be available in what someone is looking for. Neither is guaranteed!

This space should provide a sense of safety for us to openly share our stories and feelings، It's unfortunate that sharing personal opinions or experiences about the appointment system and interactions with Hermes SAs can sometimes spark intense debates. As a customer since 2015, I've encountered situations where I didn't receive good treatment from SAs at Paris stores even with a lottery appointment. For those who justify such treatment due to SA exhaustion by walk-in requests, it's important to remember that customers should always be treated well and respectfully, regardless of the circumstances. The other thing is many of us, myself included, are fortunate enough to successfully secure the bags we desire, whether it's from the Paris store or other locations. However, it's important to remember that not everyone has the opportunity to travel or establish strong relationships with SAs. Let's be mindful of varying circumstances as we engage in discussions.

Your post needs to be a sticky! So well written and reflects my sentiments reading some of these responses.

I genuinely do not believe in “customers should always be treated well and respectfully, regardless of the circumstances”. As someone who has seen a person escorted out by security because they were crying screaming yelling verbal insults nonstop at SAs I think there is a line.

But that’s gonna be off topic for this thread!
I don’t know if this is so off topic. I just had a crazy experience in Paris where my time with an SA was interrupted by a demanding and unreasonable walk in client to the point the SA had to stop working with me for a significant period of time in order to deal with person. The SA was lovely and I remained calm and stepped back and this was the reason I was offered a bag. The behaviour was terrible and I hope to never see anything like it again and I certainly feel for any SA who has to deal with that rule of behaviour.

I think it’s somewhat on topic especially for the Paris thread especially. I haven’t seen recent intense debates referenced above, but perhaps I haven’t really read back far enough. Everyone’s Paris experience is different re bags, appts, SAs etc.
I do get a bit tired of newcomers who who have not used the search feature for simple questions, and who are solely interested in QBs, but that seems to be the flow of the entire subforum these days. I’ll be in Paris next month and I cannot wait. I don’t have anything in particular in mind, I just like seeing what is new at FSH :)
