I will leave this reminder as a sticky because tthis is often a thread that new members (or new Hermès lovers) post on - hopefully temporarily.

We were in Paris in early June and I had really hoped to get a QB but failed to get any lottery appointment. We were also visiting France in February this year and connected with an amazing SA who shared her contact information. We reached out to her once our travel plans were confirmed and sent her most of the items in advance so she could put them aside for us. We tried to get her help to get a leather appointment but no luck either. She did mention to keep trying for online appointment and if that doesn’t work until our last day, she’d do her best to surprise me.
On our second last day I went to FSH to look for Oran sandals but they didn’t have a lot of color options in my size, I then asked for Chypre and the lovely SA took me to a corner and asked me to wait. She then came back with 2 beautiful colors for me and I decided to purchase the neutral color. My husband was really jealous cuz he’d tried to get Chypre all 3 stores and had no luck. The SA was so lovely, she overheard our conversation and went to see if she could find a pair for DH. To his support, she did find it and in the color he’d wanted. We were surprised as just 30 minutes before this the men’s department told us they had no chypre in his size. We connected really well with the SA and had the best shopping experience. As I went to browse in other departments, to my surprise DH said the SA is making my bag wish come true. She made a request and got us an appointment . I didn’t score a quota bag but I did score a beautiful constance that I’m absolutely in love with. I was also offered an Evelyn but I left it for someone who would appreciate it more than I would. It was a successful trip and I’m so glad I met two lovely SAs.

For everyone who got an appointment through lottery system and got offered QB, does the SA give you their business card and offer you to reach out to them in the future if you plan to go to Paris?
I was lucky to get an appointment couple weeks ago. The SA was super nice and we had a great time chatting. But that's it. I'm wondering if anyone is lucky to connect well with the SA and get leather SA contact info for future trips.

My FSH SA recently offered to ship things to me from Paris, but I wasn’t sure as I have only shopped in person.
If you have RTW/merchandise shipped from Paris to the US, how does it work for sale taxes? I live in a state that doesn’t have taxes on clothing and shoes.

You have to pay duty tax, and the percentage varies depending on the material. 100% silk clothing is 3% tax but synthetic composite (I just bought a polyester/silk dress from AW23) was a whopping 16%! Leather also varies depending on type. There’s a whole tariff table that is used to calculate the tax. It can also take 2-3 weeks for everything to ship and clear customs. I think for most things you still save a little since prices are lower in France. Plus sometimes they have items not available here yet or different sizing.

I had two pairs of men’s swim trunks recently shipped from my SA in Paris to the US. The trunks were $734 (FSH took 10% off as a courtesy like tax free), shipping was $50. Then DHL charged me $242 for import duties before they would deliver the items.

Anybody in Paris with news of H shopping with the riots?

British people tend to take their cars, so it may be different for those flying, staying in nearby hotels to FSH/RdS

I was supposed to be going to Paris for work, most of us were staying in the 16th and working Place Vendome, typical lux tourist area, it's been cancelled due to the Risk Assessment.

As someone that has lived, slap-bang in the middle of riot zone area in London (2011) and whilst my earlier home was surrounded by the 07.07.05 bombings in a cordoned-off area, no way in or out, I am glad we're not going. My advice to others would be be postpone the trip if possible.

Thank you for this timely warning. The person shot as he was driving away from a traffic stop was a 17 year old. Although he made a mistake, he was a child, and the officer failed to contain the situation and is responsible for the tragedy. These riots are very very different than the ‘normal’ protests or strikes over the age of retirement or garbage.

PT has rightly directed you to the customs thread but also know that if your state does not have sales taxes on clothing and shoes, it may very well have use tax, and international shippers will often report shipments for this kind of tax.

Yes, this is different to anything we've seen, tbh. The officer has been charged with homicide. It's gutting for many of us.
I have already left the city (bc of summer, not bc of this), but my neighbor just told me the Left Bank is quiet, but there are protests around the larger landmarks on the Right Bank.

To stay on topic, Sevres may be in the quietest area.

From my understanding, your items get shipped without VAT, but get charged Import taxes in the US. State tax is separate from import tax. Import tax is a a federal tax.

Business owners boarding up storefronts on Champs Elysees
The fact is we are so fortunate that we can even view this through the prism of this thread . . .

Was shopping at Le Bon Marche on Sèvres around midday and was warned about the riots. Shortly after went to Sevres Hermès and it was not mentioned. Around 3 pm went to FSH and it was not mentioned there, however, I did see a lot of police ”preparing“ near Champs Élysée in the taxi back to my hotel.

On a more positive note I was able to secure a walk in leather appointment at FSH today. I was sure to mention that I was only looking for a picotin. They coordinated an appointment for me without checking my profile. Once I was assisted they asked what color I was looking for which they unfortunately did not have, but allowed me to view all the colors that were available. I opted for a gorgeous picotin 18 in blue de prusse with ghw. For only being in Paris for 2 days and this being my first trip trying for a bag I could not feel more lucky!

Congrats on your beautiful picotin! Glad you are safe :)

We had a scheduled appointment with our regular SA this week at FSH. It was later in the afternoon and she said there were no Bs or Ks available and offered a C. It is the first time there hasn't been any Bs or Ks available during our many year relationship with her. I'm not sure what to make of it. Were there none? Or had we not purchased enough at that appointment? Many times we are there and do not even ask for a bag and buy lots of other things. It would seem rather unfair that all of that additional spending doesn't seem to count. We only buy what we like at that time and there just wasn't much this week. I remember hearing from our SA in the past that there are always Bs and Ks available on some level, so I guess we didn't make the cut this time.
Don’t take it too hard. You went the week in between PFW Men’s shows and Paris Haute Couture week. Perhaps the QBs have been earmarked for VIPs? In any case, what’s most important is that you had quality time as a couple and you enjoyed the food, sight, sounds and shopping in Paris. And the wifey got a C.

May the Hermes gods shine favourably on me during my upcoming trip!

Do the the Paris-based OGers have any insight on the impact of stock at mothership post-the major fashion weeks in Paris?
