After the excitement from last night’s appointment confirmation, the frenzy of booking flights and airport transfers etc, combined with lack of sleep from thinking about all the possibilities, I somehow managed to get myself in one piece to the airport. My appointment was for 6pm today and as I am waiting to board the flight from Prague to Paris I refresh my appointment confirmation and find myself panicked to see it has been brought forward to 2.25pm. My flight arrives at Paris at 2.15pm! I frantically call a number via a quick google search and surprisingly calmly (definitely did not feel that way on the inside) I explained to the lovely lady on the phone who assured me that it is ok to be late, I just might need to wait to be seen by an SA. Anxiously wonder how it’s possible for my appointment to get moved up so quickly, does it mean there are no bags and therefore prior appointments are getting wrapped up quickly?!?

Arrived late but the lady at the leather appointment didn’t seem phased at all and said someone will be with me shortly. The place was hectic and there were people everywhere. Within a few minutes I was seen by an SA. She was nice and polite but perhaps not quite as warm as I had hoped. She was definitely looking me up and down as she was talking to me. I felt I was reasonably well dressed with a few Hermes items peeking through, not sure what she made of it all. After chatting a little and asking me for my wishlist she went off to search. After 10mins or so she said follow me. I got into a lift with her and she lead me into a private room, asked me what I would like to drink etc. She said I don’t have exactly what you want but I have something special, then left to get it. I was excited because she obviously had something to offer me and I was in a private room so was hopeful it was something that need to be shown in private. When she returned and I saw the box my heart sank because I could tell immediately that it was not a Birkin (my bag of choice) by the depth of the box. She opened it and it was a black Constance 18 epsom with rose gold hardware. The bag was beautiful and I know many people would be very happy with such an offer. However gold hardware is important to me. When I was explaining to her that my hardware of choice is gold she said ‘mm yes I can see that’. I wasn’t sure what to make of that - I was wearing my VCA perlee bangle and ring but wasn’t overly flashy. Anyhow I digress, even if Constance was in gold hardware I think I would have still declined. My heart is set on a Birkin and I didn’t want to get caught up in the experience and lengths of getting here to simply buy something that was not on my wishlist. To her credit the SA did try to offer alternative choices but unfortunately not a Kelly or Birkin. Fair to say I was definitely disappointed/gutted but I was fully aware that this could be a likely outcome.

It is a sad trip back to the airport that’s for sure!! I had a feeling of guilt for using up one of the few days my family and I had in Prague but I don’t underestimate how fortunate I am to have had the opportunity to experience an appointment in Paris and get offered a Constance as I know many here have missed out altogether. Thanks again to everyone for all their warm wishes!!! It was an experience for sure. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas spent with your loved ones. Happy holidays!
So sorry to hear you didn’t get the bag you were hoping for. What a disappointment, especially after the high from getting a lottery appointment! But good for you for sticking to your guns and holding out for the bag you really wanted! That takes conviction!! I hope it was still a fun adventure and it’ll be good story to tell!!

Thank you for sharing! I’m sorry it didn’t work out the way that you wanted it to. Don’t feel guilty. Taking risks mean things could’ve gone either way! I’m glad you at least tried because you would’ve been beating yourself up about not going! You did the right thing by declining a bag you don’t love. That’s someone’s dream bag and they now have a chance to own it!

Thank you, and thanks to the other responses on this. I love a good thrill and adventure, but it sounds like the hunger games. Agree, probably best to stay focused on my home store. I kinda feel like I missed the boat on the Paris approach (3-5 years ago) and now it’s basically impossible. Hope springs eternal.
Ha! Same! But even this one is a little too adventurous for my liking. I say get to planning a trip so you can spend some time there getting to know the lay of the land so to speak. I knew from the first day that I got there that I’d avoid asking anything at the appointment desk at fsh. That’s where literally everyone stopped at I didn’t hear yes not one time and the SAs seem like they’d had a rough time.

Happy to share my experience as I always find other people’s stories so fascinating and insightful.

I saw two people getting offered picotins on the floor where I was initially waiting.

We went in a lift to the room, I think it might have been upstairs now that I think about it. She used a key to unlock and there was a small desk and chairs on either side. Felt a bit ‘office’ like. When I exited the room there were a set of stairs leading down which looked like it was staff only on the left and on the right it opened through to the store floor.
Thank you for sharing your story. I didn’t realise George V had private rooms; the store is small and I’ve seen people offered QBs in the open so just assumed they didn’t have private rooms like the larger stores.

I’ve only ever used this private room but there are also some discreet hidden fitting rooms on the second floor for trying on RTW!

Thankyou you all so much - this forum is filled with so many wonderfully supportive and lovely people! It was definitely a roller coaster of emotions the last 48hours and one I will remember for many years to come.

so much respect for you not accepting a bag you didn't want 'just because its an offer' and giving someone else the chance to get what may be their holy grail bag.
I wish you a wonderful 2023 and may you get the bag of YOUR dreams in the new year.
You deserve it

Slightly OT but do SAs receive commission in Paris?

I’ve been told that they do not. And, my FSH SA only wants me to buy what I feel is absolutely perfect for me; she would rather I leave empty handed if I am not sure; and it hasn’t impacted my QB and non QB offers.

An SA who is on her phone doesn't mean she's not working. I remember I was with my SA once and she left to check something, her phone was near me and I could see all the notifications of new messages that she was receiving. All from clients. And a lot!! That's also part of their job now, especially after covid when they eased the process between SAs and clients.

Agree. Between what’s app; email; texts; appts; they are almost totally overrun with their existing clients, which is why I can understand their frustration when they have to continually refuse QBs to new customers

When a brand show me that they aren’t a good fit for me or don’t want me as a client I move on especially one where I’m just buying things that I don’t NEED. You have one maybe two times to treat me in a way that I feel not good and that relationship is over.

Exactly. When my first local SA left, I stopped boutique shopping for many years. It just wasn’t as fun without her.

Just keep in mind having an appt does not guarantee the bag of your choice.

iMO, this is the only way to approach the lottery appt system

Just wanted to give everyone a quick update. I've had no luck with scoring an appointment, so we tried walking in just in case they had any cancellations. The starts must've been aligned for us (husband and I). My husband was offered a B25 so of course I said yes since I've always wanted a baby birkin. We got a few other things on my wishlist so I'm very pleased but now we can enjoy the rest of our trip just wandering around Paris. Goodluck to everyone and happy holidays!
Sorry, this took me a while to post. We are back from Paris and the Christmas rush is over, so I have some time to go into more detail about my experience at FSH.

My husband and I were in Paris for about 3 days and tried every day for an appointment at FSH with no luck. I wanted to get a few things other than a quota bag so I figured we could stop in and ask if they had any cancellations since we were already there. It was a Saturday morning in December, around 11:45am when we arrived at the FSH store. We walked in and I asked the first person I saw if they had any cancellations and she directed me to another associate to check for availability. While I was walking over to check I noticed someone right behind me following because she too was hoping to get an appointment. Luckily for us there was one cancellation. The associate gave us the iPad and asked us to put our information down and asked us to wait a few minutes for an SA to assist us. While waiting for our SA I decided to check out the scarf section and got sidetracked with all the beautiful display items. About 10 minutes passed by before I got a call from my husband telling me the SA was ready for us, so I quickly walked back to where we were waiting. The SA greeted me and took us to the second floor where it was quieter. We sat down at a desk, and she asked me what I was looking for and took notes. ‘What colors do I like, what colors don't I like. What's my hardware preference?’ We then chatted for a few minutes before she said she would go check to see if there is anything that she could find for me. We didn't wait long, maybe 5 minutes and when I saw her come back so soon, I felt a bit disappointed but then she said to us "Let's go somewhere more private, I have something that I really think you will like." So, we walked up to the 3rd floor, where there was no one around, no bags in case being displayed so I thought this had to be good! She had 3 boxes with her, the first she opened was a small box... I immediately signaled to my husband "it's a 2-5" and I was right. She pulled out a Swift Birkin 25 retourne in magnolia with PHW. I immediately told her I'd take it. She then offered a fourbi which I was on the fence about, but she and hubby convinced me to get it. The third box was a leather accessory for the Birkin but I wasn’t sure what it’s called. It was a flat piece with a zipper on one side with two holes that goes over the handles of the Birkin (or Kelly) and is like an outer pocket for your Birkin. Hubby insisted I get it but then asked if we had to worry about color transfer since it was black. Our SA went to check and came back advising us that we should pass on it because color transfer is a possibility. After she showed us all the items in the boxes, we told her about how we got engaged on the rooftop of the Hermes rooftop garden and that Michael Coste said he would come see us when we visited the store, so she called Michael to let him know we were there. He came within a few minutes, we chatted for a bit before making our way over to the Hermes Airship (holiday display/workshop) for photos. Afterwards we went back to our SA and she asked if there was anything else I was looking for and I told her I’d love to pick out some twillies for the new Birkin but also a Birkin 30 I recently purchased. After we picked out some twillies I went back through my wishlist (notes in my phone) and asked her for a pair of Story Boots. She checked her phone and told me there’s one showing in my size but usually that means it’s out of stock if it’s showing ‘1’ in their inventory. She left for a few minutes and came back with the Story Boots. She asked me again if there was anything else I’d like while there and I told her I’d love to get a gift for my mom and I had a mini Lindy or mini 24/24 in mind, preferably in a neutral shade like black or gold. She informed me that the mini Lindy isn’t available but would check on the mini 24/24. This time she asked us to move to a different area, somewhere more private and took us to a room where we waited with all the boxes we would be leaving with upon checkout. She left for about what seemed like 10 minutes. When she came back, she said “I have something you’re looking for. I didn’t think it was available.” She opened the box, and it was a mini Lindy in gold with GHW. I tried it on to show my husband, he liked it and said it would suit my mom. Now we are finally ready to checkout. While checking out our SA wrapped my twillies and bagged our items. We were saying our goodbyes and she handed me her card and told us that if/when we return to Paris to reach out to her for an appointment. We thanked her for all her help and for taking care of us. We were getting ready to leave and she said to us “Can you hold on for a few minutes? I have something special for you.” She left us for another few minutes and came back with an orange box and said, “I had to get approval because we usually don’t do this, but I wanted to give you something for Christmas.” We thanked her again for all her help and left. We didn’t open the orange box until the next day, here it was a scarf! How sweet and thoughtful of her.

I truly think that the stars were aligned for us. Our SA from our previous visit left the company and we had to try for the lottery with no luck, there was one cancellation, and we got that slot. I hope that my story inspires someone who is reading to not give up. If you don’t win the lottery and are close to a boutique it wouldn’t hurt to ask if there’s any cancellations. The worst they can say is no.

Thank you for letting me share my story with you.

FSH is a magical place❤️ Congratulations and Happy anniversary!
