Something interesting that I overheard at FSH: a lady gave the SA her B & K wishlist, he went away for a few mins and then reappeared saying 'Since you are a long-term customer at the Sevres store (he had checked her purchase history per usual protocol), I cannot offer you a bag here. May I suggest that you try at Sevres instead?'. I've never heard this line before! What's the point of the 'No store preference' option on the appointment site then? For people who have zero purchase history only? :whut:

Yikes! They are really trying to redirect people. I will say that store is BEYOND busy. You can barely move through people!

George V is also very crowded usually and there is also usually a queue outside to enter the store (before joining another kind of queue inside to be assigned to an SA). Sevres is quite pleasant but it seems very hard to get an SA to help in any department (as in, there is literally none in sight haha).

Wow. Just wow.

I know that the online lottery system was implemented to resolve the problem of lines snaking in and around the store and other surrounding businesses in the neighborhood - and people camping out overnight - but my goodness.

I missed the old days when people would line up at the store, at least it’s easier to score an appt if you’re there early. The online system is a mess. You can’t buy a bag without an appt. I even told the appt lady I wasn’t interested in quote bags and she said no.

Yeah Most SAs at Sevres aren’t busy (they just pretend to look busy). I’ve seen them using their phones while clearly there were people looking for help in front of them.

They should make it so that an appointment is only required if you’re after a B/K/C. Not everyone wants one of these bags.

I’ve found FSH SAs in Rtw, scarves and home goods to be quite proactive in approaching you and asking if they can help. The only annoying thing is they only work in their department and so if you want items in more than 1 section you have to work with different SAs. There are exceptions but quite rare I find.

Hi all! New to the group and loved catching up on this thread on all your Hermes buying and appt experiences. Im in Paris on 12/23 and 12/24 and hoping to score a leather appt to get a bag and/or wallet for my mom. I have a pretty humble purchase history and its all in the US (this is our first time in Paris).

In the case a leather appt doesnt work out, how have you approached an SA about getting one not through the online system (is this even possible)? How do you show knowledge about the Hermes brand? I feel a bit awk just talking about what i know lol. Appreciate all the insight here!!

What bag are you after? If it isn’t a B/K/C you could just try asking at the leather appointment register desk in the stores, mentioning what non-quota bag you are looking for. No guarantee this will work but it doesn’t hurt to try. Just be polite but to the point rather than talking about the brand to show your knowledge (the latter you can do later if you manage to get an appointment). Also bear in mind that even if you get an appt, you might still not get offered a bag at all/a bag in your desired specs. Your dates are likely to be very busy as well.

For wallets you don’t need an appointment, just go to the SLG counter/area and ask an SA to help.

I think Paris lottery would ideally target people with zero purchase history who perhaps don’t have access to a home store. The option of no store preference gives the best chance at an appt.

Im not sure why someone who has an extensive long term history at Sevres would not have a regular SA and therefore make a direct appt with that SA or simply try sevres in the first place?

@hec97 , you do not need an appt to get a wallet. You do not need any purchase history to get a leather appt. Only luck. I agree with @_gelato_ above. If you do want a BKC, don’t settle on something else. I’ve heard that people on the thread get. Non QB; subsequently get a leather appt, and then are told, I cannot offer you a bag bc you just got one.

Just went to FSH to do one last round of shopping. My husband and I managed to each get a belt that was on our list. The SA who served us at the belt section was nothing but nice, and probably new. We were directed to the cashier for payment after and the cashier told us we would need an SA to follow us for payment. By this time, we were a bit lost so we just asked an SA who was near the cashier to assist us since she was free. To our horror, she just shrugged her shoulders and rolled her eyes and tried to brush us off. Then she said something in French to the man at the cashier (probably showing her annoyance) and stormed off unwilling to help us.

We are shocked to receive such treatment at Hermes. I hope for no one to have such an experience :(

Sorry you experienced that! I think people forget that not everyone knows their companies protocol! The cashier should’ve explained to you that you needed your SA to check out. I wonder why the SA left you?! I understand being new but that’s very different from it being a very first sale new! Every time I’ve checked out the person works on the register to do the total, take my payment and explain the vat refund while the sa that I worked with prepares my stuff! Once the payment is collected the SA hand me my stuff!

Slightly OT but do SAs receive commission in Paris?

Maybe you saw my Sèvres SA on her phone texting me while I'm travelling and still asking her questions about items and remotely ordering then...
An SA who is on her phone doesn't mean she's not working. I remember I was with my SA once and she left to check something, her phone was near me and I could see all the notifications of new messages that she was receiving. All from clients. And a lot!! That's also part of their job now, especially after covid when they eased the process between SAs and clients.
